IIRC a few people here had problems with Pietta guns. Uberti is owned by Beretta, should have some pretty good QC.
Anyone have any experience with the Pietta 1873 Peacemakers? Sending off for my restricted tomorrow and i'm looking for a good quality peacemaker without the Colt price. I was looking at the Uberti version as well but its a bit more, would be willing to shell out though if there is an extreme difference in quality
Personally I wouldnt buy either but Id go with the Uberti if you really want one.
Pietta has QC issues, a lot of springs leave the factory with no or insufficient heat treatment and the parts are sometimes too tightly fit. They will fix any issues for free and it'll be a good gun thereafter but in my opinion they should be doing that as they come off the line, not after someone's already paid for them.
So... I might have a connection for a 1942 Springfield Armory Sky Box M1 Garand, a 1916 Mauser M98, and (I believe, I haven't gotten the marks to translate) possibly an Ariasaka Type 38 Cavalry Rifle, or a Type 44 Carbine. He's also selling a Westinghouse Bannerman Converted M91, a reproduction M1 Carbine, and a Winchester Model 94 .32-40 John Wayne Commemorative. Kind of neat.
Picked up a WMD NiB-X Full Auto BCG w/ Hammer for 150. From what I've read its a solid BCG. Any one have any thiughts or experience on them?
I hear really wildly varying reports on the currently quality of DPMS AR's. I'm looking at a 5.56 recon AR from them, but I'm unsure. It has a lot of the features I'd add after market, but I'm unsure of the base quality. Are they any good these days? I could also go bushmaster, but I seem to recall that their quality went to shit. Smith and Wesson and Rock River arms are also options, but meh. In general I would prefer not to get an AR, but I need a patrol rifle and those are my options. I can't build my own, so who is the favored manufacturer of the lot there?
Anyone have any experience with armalite ars? I was thinking of getting a def15 for 700.

If you want a patrol rifle, get that.
http://www.gunbroker.com/All/BI.aspx?Keywords=sig+556
Sure as hell not willing to buy it at above $1000.
Sure as hell not willing to buy it at above $1000.
They're well worth the money, even above a grand. I owned one for a few years and it is by far the most reliable rifle I've ever owned, and dead accurate too. I had to sell it to make rent and I regret it, I should have just got evicted.
Sure as hell not willing to buy it at above $1000.
You really think you'll get a Sig rifle for under a grand?
You really think you'll get a Sig rifle for under a grand?
No, they are just not worth that much to me when there are cheaper, more competitive options out on the market whether it be new or used. It does stand out as a well made piston gun in 5.56 that takes Stanag mags at a great price if you look at it like that. Sig just doesn't click with me. I've heard the AK variant was shit though.

I have a list of manufactures and a requirement for the AR15 platform.

RRA is good too, but can be a bit dated and heavy with their quad rail forends with little to no lightening cuts. RRA also comes with too many sling mounts on the front sight/gas block.

Even then it would have an inferior flash hider and a worse barrel.
S&W would need all of the furniture swapped and would need a trigger replacement. Even then it would have an inferior flash hider and a worse barrel.
What kind of furniture are they specifying? They sell M&P-15s with Magpul furniture pre-installed.

If you're looking for a non-AR in 5.56 but doesn't suck, a SG556 is the best for the money. You can buy $700 rifles that are similar but they don't perform nearly as well as the SiG does. There really isn't much out there to compete with the SiG that doesn't cost 2 grand, or isn't a god awful AR.
What kind of furniture are they specifying? They sell M&P-15s with Magpul furniture pre-installed.
Magpul stuff is my preference. Trigger is policy. S&W Has stuff with magpul furniture, but no forward rails and a fixed front post sight. That mess gets all kinds of caught up in a vehicle.

Hell even the sport 1's could keep under a 2 MOA group no problem, and up until the sport II's came out all the barrels were melanited.

If I'm a cop in an average North American city, I don't think I'll be getting into too many firefights outside of 300 meters. Out in the 'burbs, it's still unlikely. Rural, maaaaaaaybe. What kind of job did you just sign up for, fox? Police?

The additional weight helps to manage recoil. [editline]4th February 2017[/editline]
Depends on the operating environment and what the opposition is carrying.
I've been a cop for a while. Hitting the point where I can carry a patrol rifle in addition to the 870.
What's the environment like? Dense urban? Sparse rural? Somewhere in-between?
What's the environment like? Dense urban? Sparse rural? Somewhere in-between?
All of the above! For rifle purposes, that is irrelevant though. We won't engage much past 50 meters. Most anything will get the job done, but scoring well during qualification reflects well. Also when you are 600 rounds deep on range day, the lighter barrels start doing fun shit.
you cant buy a functioning lower or stripped lower until 21. I'm building my AR in parts so that's why I'm not just buying one off the rack. I'm looking at the 80% route, but I'm not sure if it's worth the jig and time, when I could just wait a few months. Would be badass though.
Go this route then and pay for transfer? Still a really good deal, and is a "rifle" on paper. I use mine on a ranch, goes with me everywhere. I also burn through some ammo with it from time to time. [editline]5th February 2017[/editline] "Must be 21 or older to purchase." Shit. Nevermind.
No, police, but we get called out for other stuff.
Good shit. Stay safe out there, man.

Hitting the point where I can carry a patrol rifle in addition to the 870.
MOA is your grouping... as in you can keep it in a 1" group at 100 yards (hence 1 MOA). Unless you're running full auto or trying to shoot prairie dogs at 300 yards extra weight isn't going to do a whole lot for you in recoil management. A government profile barrel (full profile, not M4 cut) would work well for pretty much any situation. Couple it with a good M-lok free float and you'd be good to go without having to have an A2 front sight getting caught on crap or having unnecessary rails dig into your uniform/stuff.
