Are you manufacturing a firearm? Manufacturing a firearm with the intent to sell it is illegal without a licence.

Think about what you just asked and then think about what an ATF agent would do if he read this question. What state do you live in again? This sounds like you live in Connecticut or California.
Actually this sounds more like a way to get around not being able to buy a lower under 21. Because It hasn't been assembled yet and could still be assembled to make a handgun you have to be 21 to purchase one. It's not illegal to sell a gun you made, if you do it under the right context. I could say assemble a sten from a parts kit and make a semi auto no problem. If I wanted to sell it to get rid of it or put the funds towards another firearm that is completely legal. Where it becomes problematic is if I build the gun with the intention of making a profit off of it, ie you build it for the sole intention of making a profit. Sorry SGTSpartans but no matter which way you cut it it's not going to work. It's either a straw purchase or building with intent to sell, which is illegal as hell no matter how you cut it. With that being said unless you live in a commie state you should be able to buy an AR under 21 no problem, save maybe a purchase permit (unless you're under 18 that is).
I was assuming that this was illegal as hell. Granted in Indiana, you buy rifles and shotguns at 18, just not a pistol from a shop. However, it is legal to buy a pistol from a private individual when you are 18(CCW permit is allowed at 18). We regulate ourselves in these situations by requesting CCW permits to show that you at least passed a stringent check. Even then not many will be willing to sell to someone under 21.
Woah damn my bad. I should probably read up on the code more. I havent gone through anything, still completing the upper. Ill wait 2 months till im 21 and avoid any risk like that. Thanks for the responses, sorry if these are dumb questions.
Jesus that all sounds crazy. If my buddy with no license had me buy a pistol with the sole intention of selling it to him when he gets his license there's no problem with that here. My dad bought a pistol with the sole intent of selling it to me when I was 18 because my license hadn't come in yet, which as I understand it is hella illegal in the US for a few reasons.
Placed my order today, from what I've heard about PSA I should receive all my stuff by the time my great great grand children die. I'll post pictures when I get it.

The laws around straw sales and under-21 y/o ownership of pistols is really fucking murky depending on what state you live in. Like in Georgia and Florida, an 18 year old could own a pistol if it was gifted to him by his parent, but if he paid a dollar for that pistol then it's a straw sale and underage ownership. It's insanely fucky. I wish we could get full federal oversight on gun laws and just ignore the state laws on it, or at the very least federal CCW's. I had to turn a 1,700 mile roadtrip into a 2,000 mile roadtrip just so I could avoid Illinois on my vacation last year. Absolutely ridiculous.

12 days til that repeal NFA petition expires, think we can make it? 40k atm, need 60k more. 40k in 19 days, 60 in 12? :/ The Hughes one isn't going to make it, 9k atm. :( Atleast succeed on the NFA one for the love of god.

It means the Whitehouse has to make a statement on it, which will be "lolno". Youre wasting your time with that.

Govenor Malloy (first of his name) of Connecticut has proposed a new budget - and as part of this new budget is increasing the Pistol Permit price (have to get it renewed every 5 years) from 70 dollars to 300 dollars. GG connecticut. just emailed my state rep and senator about this.
"in order to make less people do it illegally, lets make it harder to do legally" A++ fuckin reasonig there
I'm probably more pro-legislation than many of you but stupid financial barriers need to fuck right off
I know, but still it's helpful imo.
Not really, because theres no way most gun owners would logically support unregulated machine guns. Even the NRA isnt going to touch that turd of an idea. Repeal the Hughes Amendment instead.

So I've never been a gun guy, but my friends dragged me to go shooting at our school's rifle/pistol club last night. It was only the second time I've ever fired a gun and the first time I ever tried shooting accurately. Somehow I managed to a) not look like a total fucking idiot and b) actually shoot somewhat accurately. It was all .22 so nothing too exciting but I think I want to start getting into this money pit of a hobby. Is there any good place to start reading up on shit for someone who knows almost nothing about firearms? I live in Indiana so from at least when I'm ready to start buying shit it should be pretty easy.

If you want to learn more about history of a gun then Chris Bartocci or Ian from InRange TV. [editline]8th February 2017[/editline]

"Before the Hughes amendment, registered machine gun crime was nonexistent....
Paraphrasing, but what he's quoting is BECAUSE of the fact that the NFA makes machine guns so hard to get and the background check process is so strenuous. Removing that process is going to cause issues. Yes, SBR's and cans need to be pulled from the NFA act, but I have no issue with machine guns being on the NFA. What needs to be done is have the tax stamp process streamlined and not take 9 months to a year to get the thing you bought. Hughes amendment needs to be tossed in the trash too. MAC is a libertarian dipshit anyways.
IV-EYDIEYD-EYDIEYD is just plain out obnoxious and colion noir should really only shut up and shoot without trying to sound smart.
Noir is sponsored by the NRA for the sole fact he's black and makes videos about guns, but isn't an obnoxious gang banger. It's some serious pandering on the NRA's part.

Now with SafeAct I have to renew every 5 years or they revoke it and I can never get it back. At least it's relatively free and easy but I'm sure getting a permit was free and easy at one point and now it's a fucking nightmare or paperwork and money.

Absolutely appalling. I was planning on getting my Pistol Permit when I turn 21 as well, in October. If that part of the budget is kept looks like i might not be getting it :/. The background check fee is going up as well, from $50 to $75.
Classic Firearms emailed me and said they have Kel-tec RFBs in stock. https://www.classicfirearms.com/bullpup-kel-tec-308-7-62-ktrfb18-rfb

How is IV8888 obnoxious? Not a fan of southerners? Nuttnfancy, James Yeager, Vigilant Spectre, and James from TFB are obnoxious.
nutnfancy is a try-hard, operator-wannabe whackjob, but at least you can rely on him to have good information and not suck up to manufacturers. sootch00 just plain pisses me off.
Yeah I can barely stand nutnfancy but yeah he isn't AS biased towards manufacturers

Took a cutting wheel to my 93 year old Model 10, dropped the barrel to 18.25". [t]http://i.imgur.com/RyodBsW.jpg[/t] Not really, I just bought a barrel that'd already been cut. [t]http://i.imgur.com/YqxR259.jpg[/t] I hope one of you would shoot me if I ever chopped a century old gun. :v: Took more fitting than I expected but it works. Makes a huge difference in handling.
