I think people are bit mad that the main story (Guts revenge on Griffith) was pushed into the background for a lot side plots and the long hiatuses. Don't really understand what he means with convoluted mess though. It has some complicated background stuff going on but other than that it's understandable for the most part.

Tough to keep track where the story is one issue at a time over 30 years
Sometimes re-reading helps. Monthly releases is just a normal schedule and I'm kinda glad that it's monthly. I remember how Attack On Titan creator tried to get his series as a weekly series on Weekly Shonen Jump only to be turned away being told that they want "Shonen Jump material and not manga". Sucks for a long running, monthly series but afaik the series only has 15-20 years left. Creator once said that Berserk was 60% done.
AoT in the manga is getting seriously bogged down in Flashback mania at the moment.
the manga's a letdown but after following it for literal years i feel obligated to keep reading
hopefully the ending is good but i think we're set up for dissatisfaction (imo)
Ending? The manga seems to go on for many years. At least the direction right now is much better than what we had for the past 20-30 chapters.

I'm pretty sure AoT manga flashbacks ended with the most recent chapter(Probably going to get flashbacks of what's happened in the time skip though). The last chapter was like a flashforward of [sp]3 years[/sp] or so.
It was a huge shift from the previous chapter though. Was kind of lost when I first read it.
holy shit a talking titan
There was already a talking titan in the Season 1, it was one of the OVAs where one of the earlier failed expeditions to recapture the walls failed and one of the historians met a lone titan who could speak before killing the only survivor of their group, it was really meant to foreshadow the origins of the titans and the humans and junk.
no afaik, the fan game was way better anyway

not sure if it's still active though
This game was actually incredible and was a huge load of fun; the updates it received back when the creator was still developing for it was insane! I never expected to have an outdoors horse riding map in it but playing it is by far a lot of fun, really captured the freedom of movement you'd expect from an AoT game. It's a shame that the creator stopped developing with no warning, it had a really active and populous community at its peak though these days I think it's died off since Unity on web isn't a thing anymore and no one expects content updates anymore

not sure where i've read, the author said something to the effect of it ending with ~100 chapters
Didn't know that. Damn, I really expected it to go for a while.
