Meh, sometimes remakes are fucking amazing. Which brings me to my point, where the fuck is my multi-million dollar remake of Starship Troopers.
A remake of that movie would fucking suck, the cheezy special effects and acting is what made that movie fantastic.
Inglorious Bastards?
YES! I can't wait till next weekend.
A remake of that movie would fucking suck, the cheezy special effects and acting is what made that movie fantastic.
I realize that but at least give the series a decent film since the first one, and for the love of god include Doogie motherfucking Howser.
Some of them are good though.
Most of them are shite but that's a given in Hollywood.
Only remake I've liked is Funny Games
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
I couldn't agree with you more.
That was probably the best movie I've ever seen. hands down.
Just don't fucking watch it if it bothers you. Just be glad George Lucas didn't butcher the original trilogy with a remake of Star Wars Episode IV so that all you geeks could jack off and rage about how it "wasn't as good" as the original one.
I can only stand 15 minutes of the Willy Wonka remake.
You cannot replace the original actors, especially Gene Wilder.

I like the remake. More loyal to the book. Though Johnny Depp sounds and acts more like the late Michael Jackson in that film.
The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Blob
War of The Worlds
Star Trek (Okay, that was fucking epic)
Captain America
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3
Alien
Dawn Of The Dead
Friday The 13th
Haloween
I am Legend
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
A remake should be a REMAKE. It should have the exact same plot. Exact same characters. Exact same scenes. Just re shot, re edited and ever so slightly re scripted to work for today's audience. It should be an alternative for newer generations as some people really don't like old movies. But 95% of remakes seem more like half hearted sequels.
I totally disaggree with you on what a remake should be, what the fuck is the point in reshooting a film? Fuck that. A remake should preserve the story and quality but give a new spin on the initial film, a unique visual style, a more well rounded story etc. Not just a shot for shot reshooting of the original film. If you want remake magic, watch The Thing From Another World, it's fucking great and the remake is awesome.

Same here, I don't get what they're doing to poor Johnny Depp, he's always forced to play total cunts.
Making a thread in fp doesn't make a difference.
Yeah but Dawn of the Dead was remade by the same director. So, using modern technology it has just been updated.
The remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still was just awful
They're remaking 'The Wolf Man' as well for 2010.

Benicio Del Toro, eh?
That movie should be nice.
Yeah but Dawn of the Dead was remade by the same director. So, using modern technology it has just been updated.
No.
You're mistaken.
George A Romero made the original, Zack Snyder remade it but without the same characters, location, plot or zombies.
Why do they even call it a remake?
I Am Legend isn't a remake, it's the third movie to be based on the book I Am Legend.
"I am Legend" is a remake?
When was the original?
and Star Trek wasn't really a remake, it was just a new story / dimension with a new cast.
Making a thread in fp doesn't make a difference.
To discuss it with people. Isn't that why anybody makes a thread?

"The Omega Man". The Omega man was a movie version of a book called "I am Legend".
The film I am Legend is a remake of the film. Not the book.

One of my main points. If you are going to change everything from the original but keep one or two details it shouldn't be called a remake. It should be called something else. Something original.

No, it's an adaption of the book.
A very poor adaption.
I Am Legend isn't a remake, it's the third movie to be based on the book I Am Legend.
Nope. It is a remake of Omega Man. Look it up.
It has scenes that where not present in the book but where present in Omega Man.

I just did, I can't find anything linking it to Omega Man.
I never knew there was a remake of The Blob.
Awesome.
Nobody cares what you think

Actually, some of those examples in the OP were fairly decent
Wait, what? They're remaking Alien? Why the fuck would you want to remake Alien? It looks like a modern film, if you ignore the shitty computers. The mechanical alien looks better than most modern CGI! What the fuck would remaking it do? It's not like it looks shit now, it still looks awesome! GAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I HATE YOU FOX I FUCKING HATE YOU AND WANT YOU ALL TO DIE GAAAAAAAAH!
Have you actually seen modern CGI?
Have you actually seen modern CGI?
I don't know why, but I find that most CGI looks really obvious to me, no matter how detailed.
Jesus christ. The remakes are because people are so not creative in Hollywood!
I don't know why, but I find that most CGI looks really obvious to me, no matter how detailed.
Yeah, it's because you know it's fake. Therefore it will never be perfect.
We aren't hollywood, and the OP watched the latest AVGN videos.
No, it's an adaption of the book.

They missed the whole point of the book in the movie. Should've kept the original ending.

District 9 has some of the best CGI I've ever seen in a film so far.

And plot.
The book was about Neville's loneliness, but they fucked that all up by putting the dog in from the start.
And I hate how the VAMPIRES are portrayed more as zombies, or "the infected", as if the film is embarassed about the having vampires.
