Dawn of the dead remake was actually pretty good, Thank. You. Very. Much.
I agree. I loved it, even though they ripped off 28 Days Later.
The War of the Worlds was a perfect movie. The special effects made me cum bricks.

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers
And the list forever goes on. All these films have been remade or are currently being remade. Now correct me if I'm wrong the only reason a film should be remade is if it no longer works with a current audience. Okay that's understandable but 95% of the time the remake has butchered the original material beyond recognition. Compare the original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers to the more recent version. It's not even the same movie any more. It has a few similarities but other than that the films have nothing to relate each other to it. The film would be more successful if it just gave itself an original name.
A remake should be a REMAKE. It should have the exact same plot. Exact same characters. Exact same scenes. Just re shot, re edited and ever so slightly re scripted to work for today's audience. It should be an alternative for newer generations as some people really don't like old movies. But 95% of remakes seem more like half hearted sequels.
So Hollywood I beg you. Next time you think about slapping "remake" on a movie title. Think.
Would it be better to release it as a sequel?
As a new film franchise? Because it probably is nothing like the original.
Better. Don't release it at all and stop encouraging people to see the remake and not the original.
I Thought I Am Legend was alright?

Never said they where bad films. Just bad remakes.
As in they are nothing like the original which they should be. Most of the time they look and feel like a new film all together
Do you mind if I remake this thread?

HEY! I Am Legend was a spectacular movie.
Remakes are good for directing the youth to the original content. I know growing up there were some great films i would have never saw or thought of if not for the remake. In a way they keep the old films alive.
The problem isn't the remakes. The problem is bad remakes. Dawn of the Dead was a pretty decent remake and it pretty much takes a crap on the new films Romero came out with. He should just stop directing and let other people handle his lore because he's the new George Lucas.
So it's essentially what they're doing to CoD now? Just change a few things and slap a new/keep the exact same title and sell it for 2x the price?

Oh god damnit who bumped this? I didn't realize it was two years old.
Ok we will stop.
