Yeah but it's hard to blame us, it's very uncommon for pigs to be flying through a frozen hell under a blue moon. Usually when the right tries making jokes it's indistinguishable from the times they aren't making jokes.
Only if the only political comedy you are aware of is The Colbert Report and John Stewart Makes Faces Like This: :O

Well who do you consider to be the pinnacle of right wing comedy?
OK as the official expert of right-wing comedy I declare so-and-so to be king
OK as the official expert of right-wing comedy I declare so-and-so to be king
My reason for asking was because I simply know of zero right-wing comedians but several left-wing ones. It seems that right wing politics simply aren't funny.
tbf south park kinda champions the views of 90% of this website with the whole "i am having an aneurism b/c of this political correctness" thing that crops up sometimes? and i mean considering most of the people here are emotionally stunted 17 year-olds and matt stone and trey parker are both like forty-somethings that's maybe not a point in the show's favor
[editline]12th October[/editline]
i mean of course they make valid observations sometimes but tbqh for the generation of asocial teenagers who post thunderf00t videos on gaming forums south park is pretty much their sacred cow
[editline]12th October[/editline]
ugh this political correctness, ugh why don't people listen to pink floyd anymore, ugh this vacuous facebook post about shoes makes me want to deck someone because i'm totally strong enough to do that, ugh why isn't anyone else this socially observant
I didn't say a thing about South Park being ideologically correct. I think that South Park is funny as fuck and even necessary to a degree. Whether or not you think they are funny is another topic of discussion. That was not my point. My point is that if your skin is so thin to the degree that you find South Park abhorrent, maybe you need to take a step back and reevaluate your own self. The same goes for people who base their ideology in something as stupid as a satirical, purposefully irreverent comedy.

Or maybe the scene - especially stand-up - is so dominated by the Left that the Right can't get a look-in. Television seems the best bet, though, as Mike Judge is pretty obviously of the Right (along with the South Park guys).

I think you guys trying to fit people into boxes of who is 'right' or 'left' is pretty disturbing. Not to mention you'd be wrong about both Judge and Stone/Parker, I think.

It's a pretty black & white view of things. Political views are a spectrum, and not only that, but people don't have to blindly follow all of the beliefs of a party. That's why you can support gay rights but still be a conservative. The South Park guys are also not conservative. Just cause they satirize left things doesn't mean they're right wing, they just target society in general. The gender identity episode, for example, is really anti transphobe while also making fun of 'transtrenders.'
;46214748']Problem here is that he's doing this to try and convince the viewer or make his viewpoint make sense.
Holy shit, someone with ~wrong opinions~ is sharing them? And trying to use humor to be persuasive? SOMEBODY STOP THIS MONSTER
If it was the same thing, like some black guy going off about how white people are the devil and so on and actually proposing that white people be fucked over or their plights ignored or what have you, but just in a comedic tone, it wouldn't be any better. And I'd bet you and everyone else would even be offended by it.
So don't play that bullshit. This guy is a transphobic, islamaphobic, politically ignorant run of the mill "conservative" and the fact that his message is wrapped up in a few (admittedly funny) zingers and comedy shticks doesn't change that.
Actually, as an islamophobic, transphobic conservative, I'd probably say something along the lines of "lol what an idiot" and go about my day because I'm not an oversensitive baby
Because humor stigmatizes people and never helps us deal with difficult topics.
And as we all know, the best way to handle a social issue is to declare any remotely negative discussion of it a no-no and get upset when people don't oblige your delicate sensibilities
who wants to do another culture war already
no rules
shirts vs skins
play to 50 million
if you see a car coming down the road make sure to tell the rest of us

Kinda contradictory there.
If somebody tells me to stop saying something he/she finds offensive, I'll stop saying it, especially if it's a friend. It doesn't mean I agree with it.
I just find it weird that if I were to continue saying it, I'd be labeled an asshole for doing what I normally do and have done for all my life. Sure, it may not sound like you're asking much from us, but some of us will find it hard to adjust to the changes in society. Old habits die hard.
A slight changing in your wording really isn't that hard. Instead of 'moron' or 'retard', you say 'mentally challenged person'. Instead of 'Negro', you say 'black person' (or 'African-American'). Instead of 'guy in a dress', you say 'woman', or if it's absolutely vital that you need to mention that this person is transgender (eg if she's being harassed for her gender identity), 'transgender woman'.
Sometimes, there are aspects of society which need to change, and there has to be a person who says "From now on, I will do this instead of this, and encourage others to do the same", to varying levels of success. I really don't feel like it's a significant burden to alter words slightly.

It's still a bit difficult to avoid saying it; My dad still lets the word 'negro' slip since that's what he was raised to say.
As for the guy that says "From now on, I will do this instead of this, and encourage others to do the same"...

They may be on the receiving end of this as well from their peers. I don't want to deal with this either, even though it's less severe than what others have to deal with.
