I use Mac, but when my mom asks me if I pirate games and such, I reply with, 'No, no, just linux distros.'
And she was none the wiser.
Yeah well whatever it's not like they can enforce anything.
We can still download Linux distros, after all they are free and open source.

Argh, what the hell is linux distros, please tell me.
They are distributions of Linux OSes, because Linux itself is just a kernel, people have made OSes on the Linux kernel.
The only things I don't torrent are games by Valve or EA, or Music, anything else such as OS's or software I'm afraid gets downloaded. although I will actualy be buying windows 7 eventualy, I only have the leaked version right now.
Go ahead an ban me for warez, I'm not promoting it, I'm just telling you the truth.
Hey guys, if someone starts talking about a game he has pirated, let's rate him "Dumb" and ban him, but when piracy is going to hell, let's rate "Agree" and condole each other.
Why would you pirate a valve game?!?
I don't pirate valve games, I think they actualy deserve the money for the quality of their games and I do not want to go fucking around with my steam installation.
I bet every single fucking one of those people who are trying to stop pirating have one or more pirated things.
This event is gonna be a fail like Prohibition in the 1920s.
This had better not effect my downloading of Linux Distros.
Just a friendly reminder for the people who think this will affect Europe as a whole. It won't. It will only affect the member countries of the European Union, so if you live in, say, Norway(which has declined EU membership several times) or Croatia(which is only a EU candidate, and won't be granted membership for several more years), you're off the hook, at least for the time being.
Just as Machiavelli once said, "It is better to be feared than loved"
The thing is, I don't get scared by that, but amused by how they try to stop warez uselessly.
Valve makes great products for what they want.
Most piracy either involves laziness or unwillingness to pay out the ass for something that can be done on paper. Fucking Autodesk and their wanting 3-4.4k for a drafting program.
I will just not bother and get some pencils and paper. Then I can draft and wear all the paper pirate hats I want!

I agree, I fucking hate Autodesk.
Why are you talking about Valve in here and it's games
piracy is more than games

And I'm more than sure that the "drafting program" you're talking about is more-than-complicated.
If people start getting arrested for piracy here in Finland, there will only be about 400 people walking the streets.

I'm Finnish and I don't know anyone who wouldn't have downloaded a song from internet. Not. One. Person.
[editline]05:40PM[/editline]
Even my grandma has downloaded Carmen from internet.
This is why copyright laws are retarded in the digital age. Big fat corporations you get enough money as it is.
I haven't downloaded music in a while since I got Grooveshark and I haven't pirated games since Steam.
If the content producers make it easy to access their content when their customers want it, then piracy will go down. TV shows are the only things worth downloading since there is little alternative to watch them outside of the TV (Being in Canada, I can't access Hulu without proxies and even then it's random if shows will actually play).
Wait when you say uploaders do you mean seeders?
Holland is going to pass a law to crack down on uploaders AND downloaders now. Not that I give a shit, since they can't even wipe their own ass without a vote to pass.

It hurts the economy too.

YOU ARE NOT SAFE :smith:
He said EU, European Union.
Norway isn't part of it.

I also would never pirate any recent Blizzard or Valve game.
I support those developers, normally I buy those games from the Blizzard store or Steam (Valve games).
Free Download != Possible Sale
time to fire up truecrypt.
I'm from Croatia!
poor countries FTW!

It usually isn't the artists intention for people to download the song and share it with friends off their Youtube page. Hence why people who reupload the same song risk the problem of having the video removed for copyright reasons. Even if they got it from the artists page.
Not saying it's right for companies to get so anal about their music though. I make guitar covers on youtube, and I know of a ton of musicians who spend days learning to play a song, only to have their videos taken down for "copyright infringement". It's a huge slap to the face, when all your really doing is promoting their song. Especially if it's a single you hear all the time on the radio.
