Even though I don't have anything illegal on my hdd, I would smash it to pieces before anyone can search it if they even try.
Just smash it? Smashing is smalltime. Use thermite! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ckechIqW0
Yes, the artists don't make money from albums, the record companies hog it all. The artists make their money off concerts (which I think is more fare anyways, because they are working for it). Look at bands like Nine Inch Nails, they go and tell their fans to pirate their music because the companies refuse to drop the prices when they ask. NIN make a shit ton of money, because almost every one of their fans will go and see them live.
That sounds like a gross oversimplification. The fact that some bands don't make much from albums doesn't mean "Album sales yield little to no money for the artists. Pirate what thou wilt." is true.
Meh, this is still very very gay.
Just smash it? Smashing is smalltime. Use thermite! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ckechIqW0
Thermite: destroyer of all. I miss Brainiac. :sigh:
ACTA isn't doing shit. Pirating in my honest opinion, doesn't seriously hurt anyone. The shitty people are the ones who pirate, then sell bootlegs. Those are the assholes.
Punkbuster reserves the right to scan your computer for any illegal content and report it to the government also. /off topic
Not like any respectable person plays MW2 anyway.
Not like any respectable person plays MW2 anyway.
Punkbuster is used in the Battlefield series as well.
I heard somewhere that an MP3 player stocked on songs (pirated) is the most expensive thing we owe, in fines I mean. Maybe that's bullshit.
I don't pirate! The Swedish people just happen to get me great discounts on everything I buy!
The police in here have lately gotten a lot of cases about harassments on the Internet and they are all pissed about it because they'd have real life crimes to solve too. It's quite unlikely anything will change in here.
Punkbuster is used in the Battlefield series as well.
And great game engines like ioquake3. You cannot tell me you have played not one modern Q3 game.
I heard somewhere that an MP3 player stocked on songs (pirated) is the most expensive thing we owe, in fines I mean. Maybe that's bullshit.
if so then my ipod is a fucking goldmine
The shitty people are the ones who pirate, then sell bootlegs. Those are the assholes.
They have the same impact on the industry as people who pirate for personal use, but their activity is reinforced by them making money from it. Reminds me of GameStop.
1. Off to Sweden  2. I learned my lesson 3 months ago. Warner Brothers wasn't to happy with me :sweatdrop:
I heard somewhere that an MP3 player stocked on songs (pirated) is the most expensive thing we owe, in fines I mean. Maybe that's bullshit.
Napster, I'm sure thats paid off though since their back in business with a pass/ticket model.
1. Off to Sweden  2. I learned my lesson 3 months ago. Warner Brothers wasn't to happy with me :sweatdrop:
A friend of mine just sent me a message saying Warner Brothers caught him and his ISP was pissed. Clash of the titans?
They have the same impact on the industry as people who pirate for personal use, but their activity is reinforced by them making money from it. Reminds me of GameStop.
Uh, no they dont. If you pirated a game, you either A: Want it but dont have the money and will not buy it since you pirated it. B: You want it and WILL buy it just to support the dev when you get the money C: You are testing it out to see if its worth it. Sure there are other reasons, but those are the 3 main ones, in 2 cases your either going to buy it or not, so their copy you "stole" is just reinforced with your own money, or your not buying it at all, in which case they lose nor gain anything
A friend of mine just sent me a message saying Warner Brothers caught him and his ISP was pissed. Clash of the titans?
Yeah... For the longest time I avoided new releases like the plague, I slipped and WB contacted my ISP. I deleted the file and called my isp and told them that I did, and they just said not to let it happen again. I'm not willing to risk it.
Clash of the titans?
Who would even try to pirate that?
This means nothing. The participators don't have to enforce anything, it's all just legal circlejerking.
Added one. [editline]10:06PM[/editline] :sweatdrop:
AKA: Abandonware And I lold
Ha.Ha. 300,000,000+ Americans. I wonder how many agents the government has to monitor us? 1,000? 2,000? say even 5,000? Not all cases will win for them either if this works. Imagine 20,000 being convicted using this scheme. I can tell you for sure 20,000 aren't just going to walk into jail. The government is either going to eventually revoke this or prepare for a shit-storm.
Added one.
Oh yeah, sorry, forgot about abandonware, Sorry. kind of tired
You're all a bunch of idiots blaming corporations. Why don't you stop being a thief and pay for your fucking products. If you need them so much, obviously they are worth something.
Fuck copyright, I support copyleft. Best idea ever.
ACTA won't pass. And if it does pass in secret, when it starts being enforced there will be global outrage and it'll get repealed.
Pirating music is a joke to me. Damn near all the music I listen to is Pink Floyd. Good thing my father owns damn near every cd.
"ACTA would overcome many court precedents defining consumer rights as to "fair use" and would either change or remove limitations on the application of intellectual property laws." So, this is the aforementioned countries saying a collective "Fuck you, legal systems. This is what's going to happen." Also, bye bye consumer rights...
They have the same impact on the industry as people who pirate for personal use, but their activity is reinforced by them making money from it. Reminds me of GameStop.
Well people who buy secondhand have just as much impact of the industry as pirates, since no money goes to the developer.
