do libraries call the author every time someone checks out a book
No it's registration with PLR and ISBN verification as posted above.
Why can't they just leave us alone, it's just software, it's just imaginary profits that wouldn't have been made anyway because the people that torrent (music for example) are MOST likely not going to buy it. Games are a tad bit different, but god damn they're 50 dollars! If they make them cost less on release then maybe they'd make more money.
You see? THIS is terrible logic. In fact it may very well be the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my life.
He was mocking you.

All your paying for then is server space and the actual cost of development. When you use physical retail you have to pay for materials, packaging, shipping and handling, and stocking charges. I can understand if you buy a console game or a PC-DVD, but not digital download. Cut the prices there and you will get much profit.
He was mocking you.
Actually he wasn't.
For the love of god, even CHINA of all people doesn't waste time on piracy.
ITT: people butthurt about the thought of not being able to pirate and trying to make up legitimate reasons to why this bill is a bad idea
ITT: people butthurt about the thought of not being able to pirate and trying to make up legitimate reasons to why this bill is a bad idea
Trying? Read the very first post I made in this thread. Then scroll down a bit, you'll see why were not going to take it.
the thought of actually buying photoshop is scary, i know :O
the thought of actually buying photoshop is scary, i know :O
Uh...it's 500 dollars, so yeah, no one wants to spend 500 dollars on much anything these days, especially not a computer program that'll get outdated in a few years~
the thought of actually buying photoshop is scary, i know :O
I use gimp, you really need to actually read the treaty. Or at least a summary.
iTunes is slow Music is protected (Can't edit them because of a huge virtual padlock) Some can't be ripped FUCK THIS SHIT, I'M GOING TO MARS
ITT: people butthurt about the thought of not being able to pirate and trying to make up legitimate reasons to why this bill is a bad idea
It's a bad idea because it might fuck with people who legally own things. These kinds of anti-piracy bullshit always do.
Uh...it's 500 dollars, so yeah, no one wants to spend 500 dollars on much anything these days, especially not a computer program that'll get outdated in a few years~
Most open-source and free photo editors outdate photoshop any given day of the week anyways.
the thought of actually buying photoshop is scary, i know :O
Photoshop is really fucking expensive.
no
Before I start buying movies and music, the price has to go waaaaay down. Seriously, some albums here sell for $30 AUD, which is just unacceptable.
Waddatheygonnado? Fine the millions of people who pirate shit to the combined order of countless billions of dollars? Pshaw. This is just pissing in the wind in a sea of piss on planet Pissolon.
I'm still confused. Do I need to get rid of all of my music I just got from YouTube? Fuck THIS MAKES NO SENSE
I'm still confused. Do I need to get rid of all of my music I just got from YouTube? Fuck THIS MAKES NO SENSE
There's a difference between youtube and limewire. On youtube you get the music the artists want you to hear as a draw to buy the full album, so what you have now is most likely okay as long as you got it from the artists' youtube page.
Did I also mention how hard it is to get older songs or songs no body knows about and is only available on torrents? I'm not encouraging warez but half my music is randomly searched and I can't find them on iTunes at all. But teenagers are seeming to drop from the limewire fad and actually buying iTunes credit. Anyway, ACTA can't stop pirating, it is an endless operation. [editline]04:34AM[/editline]
There's a difference between youtube and limewire. It's a failure at its best.
So according to some of this thread, listening to the radio is illegal.

So why isn't it okay? Well, there goes freedom. I'm moving to Romania.
99% of videos on youtube involve people stealing the music from artists without their permission.

if you get it from the artists' youtube page
:derp:
right because some silly little act thing is going to keep people from pirating anything that they want. Yeah, totally going to happen.
they day acta was passed... all piracy immediately stopped... and the companies profits... stayed the same. someone isnt gonna buy photoshop for 500$ to photoshop funny pictures or do faceswaps. especially if that person has never used it before. the same goes for just about any professional design software. however, some of these people learn to use it, and then later in life work for a company that buys it, or buy it at home, etc etc. but wait kybalt! theres a 30 day trial! and to that i say, find me someone with a life who learned photoshop in 30 days, this doesn't even go for other programs like maya or whatever. as for music? artists arent loosing money, only the record companies are. why do the record companies even exist? games? try before you buy. especially considering the amount of shitty ass games that come out, do you really want to pay 50$ for spore just to find out it sucks? its unfair to the consumers to have to gamble like that, especially since you cant return PC games. movies? oh god the box office sales of avatar weren't enough for the 13th gold plated yacht! must sell DVDs and Blue-Rays!
why do the record companies even exist?
High five man Also I really think steam should have a returns policy, it would really help them alot.
Well fuck, I guess I should burn my mp3 player. Or burn all of my songs to CD and go back to my Walkman CD player.
