Anti conspiracy theorists are worse than theorists or why we need the photos released.

Really? That's what you're going to vote on? Not economic stuff, or social policies, but JUST this? Well that's just horrible decision-making.
hrm... I still say contrast is better than a confused group
The choice is to piss off international terrorist or piss off conspiracy theorists. Given that the worst thing conspiracy theorists are going to do is vote for Donald Trump I think the choice is pretty obvious.
I swear to god you fucking conspiracy theorists would think the US government would try to kill 4,000 of it's own people just to get some oil.........oh wait...
Lol where is all this oil?
I love how people claim "this war is over the oil!" and they forget the part where we never got any oil.

Well, we actually did, but we had to pay for it.

TH89, I'm pretty with you on this, but is it really a fair argument to say that this would provoke extremists? I mean, they already hate us after all.

Why would someone wage war for oil they still end up having to pay for?
Well, we actually did, but we had to pay for it.
Really? We got lots of oil from Iraq?
Stats please, because what I see is a bad economy and rising gas prices. If there was some massive conspiracy to get oil, they really fucked up somewhere along the line.

This
If I were bin laden I would record a video every day saying "ha ha I'm not dead after all, p.s. [newly released film or CD] is for infidels"
Or plan an even bigger attack, carry that out, and then throw it in our faces.
Note this is a theory, I don't believe this is happening.

This as well, if there was a conspiracy that just wanted to wage war for oil, why would they do it in such a way that we still have to pay for it, and why would it have no effect in keeping gas prices down? There'd just be no point.

Good, because it's not.
Osama was killed by Hitler in a sound stage in Argentina.
The lack of released photos prove my statement.

Yes! Success in the war on terror is measured not by how many insurgents and terrorists we shoot, but by how many people we prevent from becoming insurgents and terrorists in the first place. For every terrorist there's a hundred angry young men who can't get work and sympathize with bin Laden. We want to A) not piss them off and B) promote economic development in their countries so they can live normal lives.
That's how you fight terrorism. Not by shooting everyone and publishing the photos of their dead bodies.

Fair enough, I suppose that makes sense.

Honestly, here's what it comes down to.
Bin Laden is either dead or as close to dead as to not make a difference. I'm willing to accept that the military wasn't so respectful of his corpse as they claim to be, but I don't think it really matters. Maybe he's being fisted by a man in a caligula costume in Guantanamo Bay right now, but you know what? I don't care.
The guy was a fucking insane egomaniacal homicidal asshole. So long as he's dead, or blind, deaf, mute, and amputated, I don't give a shit what the military did. No more than I would care about any of the other human rights violations that the military has committed that are plainly documented anyway.
Point is he's fucking dead.
Let's knock this shit out:
1. We have confirmations from a variety of sources that Osama Bin Laden is dead.
2. The photos are supposedly gruesome. To gruesome to release. That's fine.
3. Not dumping his corpse would have led to a variety of issues, from that of burial to that of who should have said corpse.
4. There is no reason to lie. It isn't election season, not even primaries(Which wouldn't benefit him anyway, as the President). If he wasn't dead, then he could easily embarrass the US. It doesn't end terror, it might barely serve as a rallying milestone. That's it.

You cannot sum of almost a decade of war in a comic strip, I've talked to many marines and army men and it isn't really like that at all.

1. Confirmations aren't proof.
2. No, that isn't fine. If it's gruesome then put a warning and people who are queasy won't look.
3. So cremate the body and spread the ashes, at least that way it could have been examined before being destroyed.
4. Yes there is. There's always something to gain.

I beg your pardon?

1. Confirmations from multiple opposing sources, even from the group that would have nothing to gain from admitting it(Al Qaeda)?
2. I could care less about gruesome-ness, I admit. But it isn't imperative to show it regardless.
3. Erm, they did examine it. DNA tests and shit like that. It's not like they're going to let an outside party come in and poke at the fucking leader of Al Qaeda's corpse. It's inflammatory enough, and at least dumping in the ocean is somewhat valid under Islam, cremation is not, not at all.
4. What is there to gain, then?
When do you stop trusting the media?
When do you stop trusting the media?
have i not already made this fucking clear
it doesn't matter whether you trust them or not, this event is of no practical consequence, and it's symbolic effect doesn't mean dick to us anyway.
all that matters is is we know he was an asshole and he's dead. anything else is unimportant.
When do you stop trusting the media?
When it stops being a reasonable source of information that has repeatedly proven itself to be fairly accurate?
When it stops being a reasonable source of information that has repeatedly proven itself to be fairly accurate?
The media is, their source lies to us on a daily basis.
The media is, their source lies to us on a daily basis.
So the depression we are currently in doesn't even exist?
Swine flu was a hoax? The images of the unrest in the Arabian world all faked?
The media is, their source lies to us on a daily basis.
Let me guess, all media is full of lies.
As stated before, Slender-man has a better chance of existing then 9* out of 10 conspiracy theories.
*I say 9 because you have a 10% chance of some being somewhat true or based off a true occurrence.
double edit: also not all conspiracy theorists are unreasonable, I used to think that 9/11 was an inside job until a user on this very forum proved to me otherwise. (thanks, Sgt Doom!)
Tbh I honestly thought you were being facetious when you admitted defeat in that 9/11 thread.
I don't really think that doubting the validity of an event having occurred when you have probable cause to doubt it is really conspiracy. If a tree falls in the forest, and only a select few witness it, later going on to claim the existence of the tree when they've burned it for firewood and disposed of the ashes is it rational to believe the tree ever existed? If you find the bare spot in the grass where the tree was, can you determine when the tree fell? Should the ashes be found if the other trees in the forest are magical tree beings that will seek revenge?
This post doesn't necessarily reflect my personal views of the situation.
Well, I just want his pictures released so I can have something masturbate to while I sit in my American flag adorned room eating a Big Mac and cleaning my guns.
I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I would very much like to see an actual picture. I have faith in the government saying "We got him, we promise!", but what I would have A LOT more faith in is an actual picture of a dead Osama. I'm not suggesting the government has taken them to their secret base and is turning him into a cyborg or any dumb theories here, I'm just saying this is an important event and it would be nice to see the proof with my own two eyes. I think they should release the photographs, and as a matter of fact I don't see any legitimate reason why they shouldn't.

Sorry, even if you don't believe anything insane and just want the photo released because they don't have a legitimate reason to keep them, you're still a conspiracy nut here.
