I'd like to see kids getting raped while working in a factory :q:
If the best job available to a person is at a sweatshop, then it's better than nothing. A lot of them provide housing & food.
Who would it really help if the jobs went away? The workers? They'd be fucked. They're already fucked, but a little less fucked than they were before.
But it's not going to pull anyone out of poverty. third-world countries need to find ways to compete in business. Instead, they're just being exploited to help others compete.
I feel like if any country is going to move beyond sweatshop-poverty, it's going to have to come from within. As far as I know, no humanitarian aid mission has ever truly changed a country.
They are just taking advantange of workers because they know there is no where else they can go. That is not ethical.
From a business perspective, I think it makes sense to seek whoever is willing to do a job for the lowest price. There's nothing unethical about that.
The problem is that an oversaturated job market will drive wages down, to the point that I'm sure some people will work just for food and shelter.
But if someone is so desperate that they set their price that low, then I would hope that they could find a taker.

I'd like to see you get raped. By a 17 inch wide cock
As ethical as taking a shit on your neighbors yard.
It's certainly not ethical by our standards, but the alternatives (such as child prostitution) are much worse.
In other words, the wide spread movement of boycotting sweatshops just fucks them over even more.
I really think OP hit it spot on. Give yourself a pat on the back OP. :)

If them being homeless is more ethical, then ethics is a bunch of crap...
If I could I would work in a factory. I love welding, soldering, ect.
I'd say no to sweatshops, but sometimes its the only choice they have to support their families. the lesser evil, i suppose.

i wouldn't say sweatshops should be ended. But i'd want the working environment to be safer for the workers. No crazy chemicals.
Sure as long as the workers get paid.
It really depends on the specific sweatshop..
