Any reason why on 7/7? I'm not from the UK.
It was a terror attack in London on 7/7/05. Suicide bombers targeted London's public transit during rush hour and it killed 56 people and injured around 700 more. OT: Being an American here in Crete, Greece we get occasional announcements and such through AFN (American Forces Network) which broadcasts to Americans in Europe. Anytime the condition level changes, emergencies occur, evacuation orders, etc...we get warned through that. A big fear for those of us living in Crete is the toppling of the Greek government and massive rioting breaking out. In the event of an emergency evacuation we are to grab a specific manila envelope containing emergency orders and our IDs that we keep safely protected in a fireproof safe. If it were during the day we'd probably hear an emergency broadcast over the TV then a humvee would come pick us up and take us to the base where a C-130 would cram all of us and other US Civilian families on board to take us safely back to the states. It's kind of neat, sort of like an action movie with an "In Case of Emergency" action plan.
This is going to sound dumb, but I always think of this when people post things like this:
I live in a city in Canada called Prince George so i was sketched the fuck out when I saw that at first, and then i was confused as to how they knew where i lived and how they put Prince George on there and then i saw the county part after and realized it was just part of the game
Any siren of the natural disaster/attack kind scare me. [editline]29th May 2012[/editline] I always thought the radio National Weather Service tests were scary too.
Here's a question: Is it illegal to incorporate any aspect of the EAS (or any variant not withstanding) in an advertisement?
Lucky for me, we don't get that shit in California. All we get are random Earthquakes and we all know that a big is going to hit sometime soon
And the occasional tsunami warnings. Those are the worst.
The sirens would probably be activated before any emergency broadcasts were made to make sure everyone gets inside and sees it.
I remember the first time I heard one of our emergency broadcasts. Imagine hearing this from your mp3 player with no warning.
Here's a question: Is it illegal to incorporate any aspect of the EAS (or any variant not withstanding) in an advertisement?
No but it would be illegal to broadcast it for the TV station, because it is the same as pretending to be a government official etc. You couldn't even play it in a storefront TV, because that would be disturbing the peace.
It's scary as well if you live in the midwestern area of the US and this pops up:
I fucking hate that thing.

I was in London on vacation during the terrorist attack in 2007 and we were scared pretty shitless. We would've been on one of the affected underground rails if it wasn't for this thing being late. Pretty crazy shit. I also remember watching TV in the hotel and being pretty confused about what was going on. I was 15 at the time but information for tourists was pretty scarce. On our way back to the hotel we saw lots of black boats on the Thames and a few anti-terrorist response vans.

It was going pretty well until it used a computer generated voice to explain the emergency, that kinda ruined it. Then the flashing emergency alert stuff at the end was ridiculous.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/Same.ogg This gives me the creeps.
damn, had my volume on full :suicide:
I'd be quite tempted to look out the window to see any mushrooms.
The fun fact of the matter is, no matter what country you're in if you're being attacked, you won't know it until you look outside. Watch some of the 11.09.2001 news reports.
Sounds like the intro to a bad '80s horror movie.
If that caught me off guard, I would think my MP3 player is transforming into the T-1000.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/14/Same.ogg This gives me the creeps.
I always have shivers go up my fucking spine whenever they have tests for this.
This isn't inherently scary stuff, it's just a little creepy, but for some reason watching this at 2:30 in the morning all alone in the dark is more than just a little unsettling. [editline]30th May 2012[/editline] I feel like I'm about to die, but I can't stop listening. :tinfoil:
Who the hell would nuke Britain? I mean don't get me wrong, it's not like they're powerless or anything. It just seems like if someone was going to get nuked it would be like, New York. Or South Korea. I don't know, something that the countries with nukes really hate. I just feel like there are more plausible disasters that could befall Britain.
