Lmao, NO.
But w/e if your fat stop eating cookies because you know you won't just stop at one.
You get what I'm saying. Doesn't turn INTO fat, but can do the same thing as it if he eats too much of it.
Are you seriously trying to tell him that spot fat removal works?
Seriously get out, you clearly have 0 idea of what you're talking about.
I studied Physical Education for two years, but seriously? muscle weights more than fat, if starts weight training he will loose weight but in the long run gain weight as hes building muscle, if he wants to keep weight off hes better off doing cardio and getting skinny with little muscle, cardio works more effective in loosing weight

Thanks for proving my point.
P.S 1kg of muscle weighs the same as 1k of fat (meaning 1kg durr)
muscle is just denser than fat

Omfg
really?
phys ed!?!?? For TWO WHOLE YEARS?
really really!?
We bow down to your superior knowledge of physiology, which you clearly wield deftly, with statements like "muscle weighs more than fat" and " if he wants to keep weight off hes better off doing cardio and getting skinny with little muscle"

No not really. You don't know shit and with every post you just make this more abundantly clear.
PLEASE stop
It's all about commitment and progression... Tips that have worked for me:
Firstly only drink water, and drink a lot of it.. I could get into all the benefits of proper hydration but I wont, that's what google is for..
Sleep is vital, it really is.. regarding sleep too, try not to eat large amounts at night time, instead have a big breakfast...
Running:
Get a skipping rope, awesome for quick on the spot workouts when you don't have time to go to the gym.
Get a decent pair of running shoes at a proper shoe store...
I don't like treadmills.. they give me shinsplints.. I find it's easier to run on the road.. you might too.
If you can't make it to the gym, or it's too cold outside or for whatever reason you can't go running that day... use your staircase for a cardio workout... Hop on one leg up and down your staircase.. great for improving leg strength and also a good workout.. believe you will be tired! Here are more.. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/givstrength1.htm
When I started working out I didn't like running so I just did resistance training... Yes I am very strong now but I do have a high body fat percentage and I cut look a lot better if I was maybe 11 - 12% bodyfat.. Do not neglect cardio or you might find yourself in the position I was in.. trying to cut large amounts of fat without losing the muscle I worked so hard for.. It's really tough!
This is what I did man. I hope it helps. I started off at 280lbs, that was on September 12, 2011. At first, I completely stopped drinking sodas, juices, artificial drinks and so forth. I ONLY drank water. I know, you may not like the "taste" or "satisfaction" of it, but it helps. Not only does water contain no calories, sugars, carbs, nothing at all, but it actually helps to wash out toxins and unwanted things in your body. Those things can also be fat, sugars, water weight, etc. Next step, change your diet. Make a calorie per day goal and stick to it. It'll be difficult at first, I guarantee you that, but once you get into it and make it a habit, it'll come as natural as possible. Mine is 1200 calories per day, which is healthy but not starving yourself. You can start at 1500 too, if you wish. So about the exercise. I began waking up at 10 am, having a bowl of cereal (Kix, Cheerios, regular). I then went on a mile walk around my neighborhood. Easy as cake. I did this every single day for about 1 month. Then I noticed the pounds were coming off, at that point I was extremely motivated. (Keep in mind, at first you won't look noticeably different, but the scale never lies.) I then got a 7 day trial to my local, 24 hour gym. I walked/ran on the treadmill pretty consistently and also worked on the elliptical machines. I also cycled at least 5 miles per day on the cycle machine. I don't know what happened, but the weight just began to fall off. I quit going to the gym because my trial ended but I continued to add a little bit of exercise in my daily schedule. I stuck to my 1200 calorie per day diet and rarely broke it. If I did it was for holidays, special occasions, "cheat" days, etc. Don't think just because you want to lose weight that you can't have candy, or cake, or any of the stuff that you used to eat. You CAN, but remember, you should only have it in moderation. Basically meaning every now and then. It's healthy to have a cheat day too. Reward yourself for your hard work, just don't go too far and eat an entire pizza. One more extremely important key factor. Have 3 meals per day and COUNT YOUR CALORIES. Try not to skip a meal if possible. Don't eat until you're full, eat until you're satisfied. If you feel like you can't finish your plate, don't attempt to. Save some for later, that way you'll have a nice little leftover meal.
Edit: I completely forgot to mention what to eat. Stray away from fast food and fried foods. My favorite? Baked/Grilled chicken. Freaking delicious! Add corn, potatoes, peas or whatever vegetable you like. I just prefer those.
Beginning date: September 12, 2011. Weight: 280 lbs.
Current date: January 9, 2012. Weight: 224 lbs. (Continuing to lose weight).
Good luck man, just stick to it and you'll be really happy with yourself too. Also, when your friends and family notice and say "Wow, you look great!" It's a priceless feeling.
Starting with this monday.
Once my soda stock runs dry I'll stop buying that too, cept water.
In the morning cycle to school, after school cycle back (2x ~5.3km) then a couple of laps around the block.
ok how many of you guys actually go to the gym and workout and do manly shit, stak my mom does that for exercise LMAO
But it works! Only thing I do in the gym is lift weights and other easy-to-understand shit, I can't run on a treadmill 'cos i feel wierd running without making progress
Well.. I've been running twice since this thread, I'm going again tonight. I've started doing weights and stuff, I'm now 145lbs or 10st 1lb or 58kg at 5ft 6.
I wanna get more built though so instead of cardio is there any exercises I could do at home which could build up arms/stomach?
Deep dips, pullups, pushups with legs on a chair and hands really far apart, pushups with hands together, one legged squats, ab crunches while holding a weight ect ect.
But seriously if you want to get some real progress get a gym card.
Well done Erasus, that is probably water-weight or something similar so keep it up for real results.

Don't neglect cardio, it's brilliant

Going to the gym tomorrow with a friend
Just done around 3-3.5 mile run with a friend. Done weights all week, only doing 5kg. Do you get bloated after weights/running? I seem to look bigger for some reason, I'm not sure though.
My brother says don't do weights everyday or I wont get anywhere as you need to let the cells in the muscles heal after doing them which increases the size or some shit? Idk.
probably right.
though at your current level and intensity + load, it won't have an effect anyways. training everyday that is
I mean you CAN still eat that cookie, just don't make it an everyday thing. In moderation. As a snack? I usually have snyder pretzels. 28 pretzels for 100 calories. Sometimes I get these little extra thin pretzels. They're 87 pretzels for 100 calories. Keep in mind these are pretzel sticks. But yeah, fruit is a good alternative. But some fruits have a lot of sugar. Like grapes, they're good, but high in sugar. Go for apples, or even oranges.
Just before some retards misreads this and think all sugar is the same and a chocolate is the same as a piece of ananas.
All sugar is the same, but it takes longer time for your body to digest sugar from a fruit, than from a chocolate chip.
I recommend fruits as a primary snack, if you have to snack; it has vitamins which is important for various reasons.
And try to stop drinking soda and eating "sugary" stuff for a while, its a diffrence.
dumb

No it doesn't.
The fat in the chocolate chip slows digestion considerably.
p.s no one said a chocolate is the same as a banana

I tried to point out that reffined sugar will be taken up in the body faster than sugar in fruits, therefore you will have a shorter period of "sugar energy" If this is wrong; then i have to double check.
