I wouldn't be to threatened by the bill. You don't owe her shit, and if she decides to bring you to court counter sue for deformation of name. She'll never be able to have a solid case against something that happened so long ago.

Yeah I'm pretty sure she can't sue you if it happened when you were a minor, and it happened 8 years ago...so if you 20 when it happened then she would have a tough time in court still. Also, those medical bills could be bogus, it might be from something else and the lady wants some easy cash.

Send her a note explaining that your bike was originally your grandfathers, and was made back in the cold war days, and therefore, it had a prejudice against Russians. Explain that you are sincerely sorry for the bicycle, and rest assured you wanted to help her, but the bike wouldn't have it. And so, you were forced to ride away. Also tell her that the bike had since changed and if she would like, you could set up a meeting where they could talk things out.

DO NOT admit to it, ask her how she knows it was you and ask her for proof, because you do not recall the incident, tell her it wasnt you. Dont pay that shit fuck that you were 12.

I pretty much agree with others. You were a minor when it happened. It was a dick move for her to make you pay for something that happened 8 years ago. I doubt any lawyer would take a case like that. Just what i think.
