Oh hey you ran over an old lady then refused to help her. Then she had to pay 13k in medical bills. Due to what you did. Sounds to me like you should ignore it because she is obviously evil and greedy. (But if you really don't want to pay, you could easily get away with it; it's up to you and your conscience what you do now.)

make contact with the daughter and ask why she sent you the bill, deny you had anything to do with it and if she claims to have evidence then i would probably get a lawyer. that said, if the lady died in 03 then i'm sure it's still been too long to charge you for anything.

Well, you have about 3 options. 1. Get a lawyer and settle it in a court of law 2. Get a loan and pay for the bills anyway 3. Sort out the issue with the lawyer who wants to take all your money.

I really can't believe this, the OP can't post the bill for a start because his computer just happens to be broken. There is no way that you could trace someone down after 8 years and then send them a bill because you couldn't be sure it was the right person, especially on just a first name. He appears to have completely disregarded any advice given in the thread and has phoned them anyway without contacting any legal professional. I just think that this is an obvious troll. If not then my advice is this: it was 8 years ago that it happened which I believe is passed the legal use by date, even if it was classed as 03 when she supposedly died then that is 7 years ago. I think you should ignore it for now, if you get another bill through the post then talk to a lawyer and see what they say, they will probably say that they don;t have a leg to stand on, especially seeing as they have no proof it was you other than your first name.

And as for you, you obviously didnt read the part where I show up in white pages, did you? And my weird name? I looked myself up on there and i was the first result without even specifying a location in my state.
