Nope, forewards
nope, backwards. if you travel near SOL but not above it you 'travel forwards though time'.
nope, backwards. if you travel near SOL but not above it you 'travel forwards though time'.
Shit sorry, just read the post. FASTER than the speed of light. mkay.
that's correct according to string-theory and subsequently m-theory. think of it this way, in a coordinate plane with the vectors x, y, and z, there is also a t vector, which is time. for example, if you wanted to meet someone in a cafe near the edge of the galaxy, then you would need to give a location, x y z, and a time, t, or else the meeting would be futile.
Yep, but according to M-theory, aren't there like 10 dimensions? Or 11?
Yep, but according to M-theory, aren't there like 10 dimensions? Or 11?
yep, eleven not sure what those all are though. there is an older video on string theory, however:
That video basically says theres a 3d space where every point is a point in time? [editline]12:38PM[/editline] And that theres also a 3d space of all possible universes' time lines
It's not 3d, that's just an analogy.
I mean, it can be represented as one
what you all seem to be forgetting is that time is man-made. we even put a measurement on i.
This should go into Fast Threads.
Is that because you have to travel really really fast to go back in time?
what you all seem to be forgetting is that time is man-made. we even put a measurement on i.
I'm sure you're just a troll, but look up special relativity.
yep, eleven not sure what those all are though. there is an older video on string theory, however:
I thought you were reasonable, then you posted that video...
I thought you were reasonable, then you posted that video...
yes, yes, it's a extremely gross, arcane, and ugly video that compresses string theory into something that it really isn't, but it's a video that is good for referencing the basic concepts of the theory to people who don't want to spend a lot of time researching.

It's a product of our imagination. No real use and not possible to travel back and forth. It's all in our heads. It wouldn't exist otherwise.
It's a product of our imagination. No real use and not possible to travel back and forth. It's all in our heads. It wouldn't exist otherwise.
if you read the thread at all you would realize how wrong this statement is.
Because they are open-minded individuals who actually accepts that other theories might be plausible instead of calling it wrong just because it's different. If you try to be really philosophical about time you'll quickly find out that other than the usual theory of time being a line you'll see that the most reasonable theory is time being artificial. No humans = No time (At least no indicator of time except for the sun, but that thing changes on different planets, and I don't think animals would care about time) gah
you use the word theory, but i don't think you know what it really means
One cannot travel backwards in time, but can "speed up" time if one travlers near the speed of light, what one can do if one wishes to go back in time is travel to a parallel world where the human species took a little longer to evolve, hence the illusion of being back in time
"How do we proove that we exist?.... maybe we DON'T EXIST."
Time travel is impossible because time is just something we made up to understand, "it". Whatever "it" is. And that's exactly the point, we don't understand so we made up this thing called time to help us understand something about it.
time is perception fuckaz
Wrong forum dude
This isn't Kidz World.
"How do we proove that we exist?.... maybe we DON'T EXIST."
i can prove to you that i exist by punching you in the balls.
I do know what I'm talking about, stop disregarding the theories I actually put some work into

work
Work is dependent upon the existence of time. [editline]02:30PM[/editline]
It lost me at dimension 4
Well after that it's 90% bullshit so that's good.
Work is dependent upon the existence of time.
so this proves that time really exists wohoo
Time exists. You can even point to it and show other people. "Omg, look at the time!"
I have become convinced that most people on FP don't browse threads for the sake of talking about a topic; they just browse threads to assert an opinion so they can feel better about themselves.
I have become convinced that most people on FP don't browse threads for the sake of talking about a topic; they just browse threads to assert an opinion so they can feel better about themselves.
I enter physics threads to educate the masses.
Time exists. You can even point to it and show other people. "Omg, look at the time!"
But OP does not exist.
Thyme doesn't really exist, it's just something we invented to take up space on our spice racks.
