• Starting My Own Clothing Brand in the UK

The names got to be simple, "Gusta" which someone suggested earlier is far too harsh when spoken. Words that end openly sound cool, kind of like how a lot of Japanese words end on an "a" or an "o". I'd say with a fashion company, the branding is the most important bit. Colours, styles, themes, it all has to be right.

That's why I like Veil; it's a bit mysterious, so it will pique someone's curiosity if it's brought up.

Sounds like somewhere I would want to shop which isnt generally what you would want for general sales.

I actually really like veil, a lot of potential for brand design too.
It really depends on how they stylize it (on logos, labels, etc)
Logo banding would certainly effect it but talking about in conversation and the way you hear it, I would say too goth/ horror movie. It wouldn't be easily google-able either which is definitely something to think about. Veil will bring up a bunch of wedding sites and things with a ton more views that you. A phrase or something more unique and unrelated to other clothing types would be a better idea from that angle.
Thinking about your slogan, the phrase "Blind Vision" just popped into my head. Sounds pretty cool.

Looking now at what shows up too is a bunch of other clothing brands using veil in their name, which has the same problem. They don't appear to be super popular, so it might not be too hard to overtake them but it is beneficial to have something easily find able from the start.
Are you going for the indie/hipster look? (Yes I hate using those words but they describe what I'm thinking of.) These days it seems like there's good business in those kinds of brands.

No flannel shirts to be found.
'Clear Veil' would sound pretty rad, combining both the cool names at first.
snip
honestly, Veil sounds chill as fuck. not "____ Veil" just Veil rad

Combine these with a memorable logo and this issue wouldn't be so hard to find on the internet.

[editline]22nd June 2013[/editline] I'm no graphic designer, but just a simple mock up with the name Veil, it just looks right...

Once I've got the finished product I will definitely post it over there. As it's a clothing brand I guess I've gotta come up with an icon which will add a bit more potential to our designs.
Your photographs needs to be professional looking and focuses/emphesizes on the cloth and model, which so far none of your photos do. They just look like typical hipster photos with instagram filters at this point to be honest.
send me a box full of clothes when you get the business working and ill wear them everday

The general aesthetic of the photo rather than the content/composition

The style is the main focus right now. Only problem I'm facing with the name Veil at the moment is veil.com has obviously been grabbed by some asshole with the intention of just extorting the guy like myself who wants it. URL's like weareveil.com are pretty popular over in the UK, although I'm not sure on it.
veilclothing.com would work and isnt taken
My only problem with that is that it's not just a clothing brand, or at least it won't be :/
you should name it Facepunch Studios LTD.
dude you should start making 5-panels with a box logo that says "veil" and make them have floral patterns and a chorduroy rim, id buy the SHIT out of them
My only problem with that is that it's not just a clothing brand, or at least it won't be :/
VeilStyle.com? Or something of that sort
I can see your brand (If done right) becoming popular. It really does apply to a wide base of people. I hope the best for you and your company.

And its bloody annoying when teenagers set up their own clothing blogs with cheap fabric from Thailand and they think they are they next HUGO BOSS or Abercrombie and Fitch or some shit. Best of luck OP
"Gusta." Sounds clean cut and kinda italian
Gusta is indeed italian, but I don't see why would anyone eat the clothes they buy :v:
