A Dad Didn't Brush His Teeth For 40 Days. This Is What Happened To His Kidneys. (Chubbyemu)

All those people claiming that the bacteria "balance themselves out" after a while and the smell goes away: no. The smell is still there, probably worse than before. You've just gotten used to your breath smelling like fucking garbage all the time so you don't notice it anymore. Everyone else does, they're just too polite to tell you.
Christ this thread is disgusting . Nothing worse than speaking to someone and smelling his awful breath.
i feel bad for people who've lost their teeth to poor hygiene and negligence, it's really sad to hear as it's so easy to prevent and really should never have happened

I was bulimic for around a year. I don't know the damage it caused to my teeth but of course it can't be good. What's worse is the damage is caused to my esophagus. Once I started getting pains in my throat that wouldn't go away I realized how stupid I was being. Thought I would have a sore throat permanently after that dumb stint. I was doing research into it and it turns out if you damage your esophagus enough it turns into the consistency of your intestines and raises your chanced of throat cancer a whole lot. The pain did eventually go away and now beyond not being bulimic anymore I only drink stuff that isn't plain water 1 night a week. Was a diet soda junkie for the longest time.
I know people don't need to be told throwing up is awful for your insides, but people who have eating disorders often don't think about the consequences until things get bad. Also if you don't go to the dentist a whole lot it's probably beneficial to get all your calories and protein through One Meal A Day so that your teeth are getting dirtied less. Make it Whole Foods Plant Based full of anti-oxidants while you're at it.
I just brush my teeth in the shower. I spend some time just standing under the shower anyways so might as well use those 3-4 mins getting those teeth clean.
Y'all
Brush your fuckin teeth unless you want your breath to smell like shit
A quick brush takes me like 40 seconds after I get out of the shower ffs
Did you brush your teeth after throwing up? You aren't supposed to
Nah I would swig water around my mouth after vomiting. Even though I was being a dummy puking I had the bit of sense not to brush right after. :q:
Take it from me... Someone who, as a stupid fucking idiot child, didn't brush his teeth at all. And now, I have none. Zero. I had them all pulled over my teens because they were starting to rot out of my mouth. I can't afford dentures that fit and implants are ~$1k/tooth.
And all I had to do, to save myself from this shit, was take 5 minutes of my fucking time and brush my teeth. I hated doing it because it was time consuming and it would always make my gums bleed and hurt. I remember, even, as a kid SCRAPING off the plaque like it was a thick film over my teeth. It was so fucking gross thinking back on it.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TAKE CARE OF YOURSELVES PEOPLE.. PLEASE
[sp]Also, i'd say that on the bright side I don't get tooth aches. i do, I get phantom tooth aches still, to this day.[/sp]
I know this is awful to admit to, but I'm glad I'm not the only young adult in the world to have gone through this pain, and for the same exact reasons. I had a partial upper plate since 17, then a full upper denture since 22 after having two of the top "anchor" teeth abscess a year apart from one another.
My bottom teeth are still mostly there, but bad to look at, and I can't afford to go to the dentist anymore because of how insurance sees it as a different type of visit. From what I've been told, you need to get implants even if you've got dentures, since years later, your gums will recede because there aren't any teeth to help them keep form, and dentures will no longer be able to fit in your mouth at all.
Part of the reason I only had them pulled was "it'll be easier probably be easier to yank them all out-" which shouldn't have been the decision of a 16yr old. And now, it's much more maintenance/cleaning on my part than it would've been if I just brushed my goddamned teeth all those years.
I'm hoping to hit the lottery or land a high paying job, just so I can fix however much of the damage I've done when I was a stubborn piece of shit child.
And yes for those in the thread that will ask, I do brush my teeth every morning and night, hoping that my bottom teeth can stay, even if they're ugly to look at.
Who was that guy in the other thread who was asking if it was bad that he didn't brush his teeth everyday?
Yeah, this.

Also while I'm in this thread jesus christ just get in the habit of doing it, it's only a pain if it's not part of your routine. Floss too. Flossing is easier than brushing your teeth. It just sucks if you don't do it often enough because your gums will bleed. I literally just floss my teeth sitting at my computer then take a swig of water.
I didn't brush my teeth enough in college and when I got home I had more cavities than I'd care to admit. I brush and floss every day now and I've had one cavity in five years.

the acidity of vomit is one of the biggest strippers of tooth enamel, so you should try to do as much as you can to strengthen it now.
I think it's also important to keep in mind that the dad was also heavily obese because of eating tons of sugar filled sweets and not getting any kind of exercice so it wasn't just the lack of brushing teeth part alone causing the chain reaction.
I brush my teeth every day, but doing it every other day is still fine. You could probably get away with doing it every 3 days provided you eat reasonably good food that won't leave your mouth smelling like a dumpster.
You can fight off bad breath by keeping your mouth regularly hydrated. Most people get fresh breath by brushing their teeth, but it only lasts for a few hours because your mouth slowly becomes very dry. Your mouth is a breeding ground for bacteria, and bad breath comes from that bacteria accumulating, and it lingers because the environment is dry. You fix it by washing it away with water. This is why most people have horrible breath in the morning. It becomes dried out from hours of sleep and all of that bacteria is hanging around doing nasty things in your mouth.
EDIT
Of course, you should still floss regularly. I didn't floss for a few weeks and I ended up getting this horrible infection. A piece of food got stuck in my teeth at the very back of my mouth. I couldn't feel it. I had no idea it was there. But this infection ravaged me for about 3 days. I ran a super high fever for a few days coupled with what felt like my tonsils exploding, but every day I brushed my teeth regardless of how much it hurt just because I figured it'd help whatever was going on. Also regularly rinsed my mouth with warm salt water. One day, when I was brushing I felt something come loose between my teeth at the back of my jaw. It didn't hurt, and I didn't see what it was, but after that, the infection went away within 12 hours and I was back to normal. Floss your teeth, seriously. It's important.
I'll take my paycheck now, Colgate.

It's recommended you brush for at least three minutes.
I used to brush my teeth only once a day but after recently having to have four different dental appointments to get cavities filled, I now brush my teeth in the morning and at night, use mouthwash every night, and floss every other night. If only because I'm afraid of damaging the fillings I have between my teeth if I use it every night. I've had fillings come out before and it was really fucking annoying lol so I'm gonna avoid that.
Can only use zero alcohol mouthwash now though because after using this mother fucker:
[t]https://i5.walmartimages.com/asr/d544b271-c0e1-4eea-9853-ab0b88ea4668_1.d3a77dde3db04874fbac3d873a4edf1b.jpeg?odnHeight=450&odnWidth=450&odnBg=FFFFFF[/t]
I got a chemical burn on my tongue so now any mouthwash with alcohol is incredibly painful. SUCKS.
Anyway, please brush your teeth, it's gross as hell to literally everyone if you don't.
I actually recently found out I'm allergic to some sort of stuff they put in Crest products in a recent trip to the dentist. I've always heard to stay away from Crest regardless but I guess now I have a good reason v:v:v
It's recommended you brush for at least three minutes.
but if the choice is don't brush at all vs brush for 40 seconds, 40 seconds wins
My dad never brushed his teeth and years ago he had to get them all pulled. One minute he had all his teeth, the next he had 0. Brush your teeth, if only to avoid having horrible mouth pain and abscesses.

It wasn’t until after I got the chemical burn that I looked it up and realized that chemical burns are super common with the Crest mouthwash. :(
I haven't brushed my teeth in a year now, not with toothpaste at the very least. I have a severe allergy to a foam-creating chemical found in almost all toothpaste. After about a month, the natural bacteria in your mouth equalizes to a point where all mouth odor goes away. Obviously it's not going to be menthol-y, but it's not disgusting either.
There's definitely alternatives to sodium lauyrl sulfate if thats what you're talking about. Honestly i recommend everyone use SLS free toothpaste, SLS is responsible for that shitty aftertaste that fucks with you for the rest of the day, and god help you if you drink orange juice ever, just better pick something else.
I had to find some non-mint toothpaste though. Cant stand the flavor of "mint" in toothpastes and mouthwashes, settled for something that tastes like medicine but at least it's not that """mint""" bullshit. The most important thing is that you do it at all, its worth going will a less annoying toothpaste if it means you'll do it more often.

Crest stuff in general has been way too strong for me. Colgate's pretty mild generic stuff works best for me, anything else has a chance to make my mouth peel a layer of skin.
i was a dumb idiot child and never brushed my teeth frequently
as in i brushed them once every month, week, couple months, whenever i really felt like it
and then i had to go to the dentist and had a root canal treatment on like 3 molars and realized how shameful it is
that was about 2 years ago now and i remember the doctor telling me to brush my teeth twice every day and i still didnt do it
one of my top left molars has chipped open but it doesn't seem to be infected (in fact i think it's the filliing that broke open)
since this year's start i pretty much brush my teeth once a day with one occasional day where i just forget it even if it's a chore
my teeth are fucking yellow too eruhghghh
Can we conclude that the stereotypical facepuncher wears a gas mask because their breath smells and they don't know why?
Brush your teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. Before breakfast and before you go to bed, not within after an hour of eating!
Also keep an eye on amazon sales as they always have really good electric toothbrushes on sale and other dental accessories.
Calcium supplements and water flosser all the way tbh
On top of normal care of'c
Slightly yellow teeth are natural and healthy.
Perfectly white teeth are unnatural and unhealthy.
Slightly yellow teeth are natural and healthy.

I don't know about white being necessarily unhealthy, but yeah, enamel are naturally kind of translucent so teeth will look a little bit yellow.
There's no need to really worry unless you've been psychologically brainwashed by media.
(not like there's any shame in that i'm a vain cunt too)
I hardly brushed in my childhood and teens for literally no other reason than laziness and the taste it left in my mouth.
Two tooth infections in my 20s later and I'm brushing regularly almost out of fear because even though I started paying more attention to oral hygeine the older I got, the damage was done.
And lemme tell you fuckers, NOTHING hurts more than a tooth infection. We're talking days on end of excrutiating pain where the hours go by like a full day.
Brush. Your. Teeth.
I'm lucky only my bottom molars were heavily hit, but I had a tooth infection about a year ago under the left second molar. It was about a whole day of crying in pain followed by waking up the next day with a golf ball sized abscess under it. The following week was near unendurable, with random pains and being almost unable to eat. Well, day before my dentist's appointment, it ruptured and drained for near 2 hours before I was fine. I went into the dentist, got that shit pulled.
I was a dumb teen to my teeth and now brush regularly, flossing semi-regularly to get the gunk out and I still have to get the other 3 second molars pulled, along with a decaying wisdom tooth. At $175 per molar, it's gonna be costly.
this thread is disgusting
Thank fuck I look the fuuck after my teeth, Thanks Facepunch for confirming all my fears.
I could feel my kidneys shutting down, jesus.
This thread is so icky, worst ive gotten is forgetting for a week due to pulling mad doubles at work. I use a clay and activated charcoal toothpaste which is super nice, keeps my teeth pearly af. Not to mention when you spit the toothpaste out it looks like youre some disgusting clay monster
I'm incredibly lucky, I have a genetic issue where my body produces more saliva than it should, so even though I treated my teeth like shit as a kid/teen (drinking coke every day, barely brushing my teeth) no plaque could build up. My teeth are still worn down hard from grinding them though. Now I make sure to brush my teeth at least once a day before I go to bed, twice a day if I have work.
I dodged a bullet but it could've been a lot worse.
