the original makes vader seem more cold and homicidal
the new one makes him seem sympathetic
Mr. Nobody
10/10
holy fucking shit that movie was nipple twistingly good. Thanks facepunch for showing me the light.
If anyone has any other movie similar to this, inception, fight club, or pulp fiction. GIMME.
I cannot express how much I loved that movie
[editline]3rd September 2011[/editline]
also one of the scenes with the step brother and sister was very close to one in requiem for a dream
Reading this thread is making me curious about this "Mr. Nobody" film...
Watch it, it's one of those parallel story films with science thrown in and fantastic acting. It is really a perfect film

I watched it and it had a good message but I felt it was very odd and disjointed and all in all it was a bit of a wank, 7/10

that is your definition of a perfect film?

perfect films: aliens, terminator 2, the dark knight, evil dead 2
films that are just good: mr nobody

is evil dead 2 a horror spoof like Drag me to Hell?
yes but as good as drag me to hell is, evil dead 2 is infinitely better
[editline]4th September 2011[/editline]
in fact you can't really appreciate drag me to hell fully until you've seen evil dead 2
is evil dead 2 a horror spoof like Drag me to Hell?
Not exactly.
Its comedic horror, but nowhere on the level of mockery that Drag Me To Hell displays.

perfect films to me have meaning, sure the Dark night was perfect but so is the fountain, fight club, requiem for a dream and pulp fiction. I like movies with complicated stories that take some thinking to figure out and can also be interpreted in different ways.

True, and that's why I don't understand why they're adding them. It works really well in the original version because you don't really see it coming straight away(the fact that Vader helps Luke). It is implied by the close-ups of Vader as he looks from the emperor to Luke, and that's how it should have stayed imo.
dogtooth 7/10
The Iron Giant: 9/10
UP: 10/10
Submarine - 7/10
While it was humorous and had a decent story, it was very grim and depressing.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 9/10.

The Dark Knight is very far from perfect.

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective 7/10
Super 8, 6/10

Brilliant film though.
Die Hard 3 - 8/10
Wasn't as good as Diehard 1 or 2. Seemed like it changed a bit, I think it might have been the soundtrack or the extra comedy that made it seem off from a normal diehard movie. Either way I had fun watching it, would watch again.

i'm sorry but it is
do not slander nolan.
In my opinion, The pursuit of happyness is the most perfect film i've seen, simple and makes you want to cry. It makes you really fell sorry for will smith and other films really don't have that emotional bond
Little Fockers - Why does this even exist/10
Watch Goodfellas sometime.
tonight I shall.
I'm assuming it's of the same genre as the pursuit of happyness

worlds greatest dad had me the closest to tears i've ever been to a film even though the [sp]character who dies was a totally unlovable cunt who deserved it[/sp]
but is the film perfect? no. is it fantastic? yes
is Terminator 2 a perfect film with a perfect balance of emotion and action and a film i could watch 100 times and will still be lauded as a classic 50 years from now? yes
[editline]4th September 2011[/editline]
tonight I shall.
I'm assuming it's of the same genre as the pursuit of happyness
haha, not even slightly the same genre
but it's still an excellent film
Seriously Rusty, it's my opinion I loved the pursuit of happyness, i'm not saying that because it's sad that I loved it. I loved it because it was really good (in my opinion)
Because you see, I felt genuinely sorry for will smith and that could only happen if the acting and story were realistic enough to make me think that the character is real. My standards for films could be lower than yours or we could even like completely different genre's but that doesn't mean that my opinion is dumb
[editline]4th September 2011[/editline]
No, but in my opinion, it's a near-perfect film, if not perfect.
I just saw the trailer and it looks really good, can't wait to watch it
The trailer doesn't even come close to doing it justice.
Now that you mention this film, I'm in the midst of making a top 20 favorites list, actually. Goodfellas made #4, and that's saying something considering that I'm usually not much for gangster movies, but when I like them, I REALLY like them. Much like Sci-Fi and Western.
out of curiosity what is your number 1?
