one flew over the cuckoo's nest 10/10 love jackie, have been hospitalized before, some of those times with some really whacked out people. the ending was very... i used to be a victim of psychiatry, max doses putting me in a really bad place. it's not like i [sp]got a lobotomy or extra electro shock like jackie[/sp] but still i've been there. where they're trying to "make you better" but all they really do is take away who you are. no man tears but still something is welling up inside me.
i can relate to him in almost every way possible. this film is one of the few films i will always hold close to my heart. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] also i recently watched following, a chris nolan film. i give it an 8. i have the same fascination with people sometimes. i've always had this image of being a creeper though so on principle i don't ever actually follow people needlessly or without some kind of reasonable and rational gain in mind. you know, don't want to shovel more creepy on top of my already sizable pile. more of a wanderer than a follower rewatching the prestige atm. probably gonna stick with my current 9 rating. and yes, the fact that scarlett johansson is even in the film boosts the score, don't ask me how much but consider that i think she's one of the most if not the most attractive women alive.
Well, it was a tough choice between two movies. Forrest Gump and the original Star Wars Trilogy. I eventually decided on the Star Wars Trilogy after re-watching them this week. They're even better than I remember them being. In fact, you know what? Fuck it. Here's the list. I wouldn't suggest all of them, these are just films that I personally enjoy more than others. These aren't the "greatest" films of all time by any stretch. 20. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World (See what I mean about personal preference?) 19. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street 18. Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me 17. A Clockwork Orange 16. Sideways 15. Sin City 14. Full Metal Jacket 13. Rat Race 12. Reservoir Dogs 11. Harry Potter (Series) 10. Goldeneye 9. The Lord of the Rings Trilogy 8. The Big Lebowski 7. The Wizard Of Oz 6. The Lion King 5. Ed Wood 4. Goodfellas 3. King Kong (1933) 2. Forrest Gump 1. Star Wars Trilogy (1977, 1980, 1983)
quite a nice collection, forrest gump would also have to be up in my top 5 and for a Disney movie Tarazan and the Lion king would be up there as well. It's funny how children's movies are often the saddest
what's that one new disney movie? the princess and the frog? god i loved it, i mean there's a trumpet playing alligator named louis. if you like jazz/new orleans or that scene in the least bit i strongly recommend this movie, it's very family friendly too. shit, it was a really depressing time for me and the friends i went with and a few parts had us in stitches, especially the flashback to when louis jumps on the steam boat and starts playing. also the animation is quite nice. there are some pretty good sort of, i dunno, experimental or whatever sequences that are really well done. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] wow i really like christian bale's accent in this movie, he's one of the masters of this time in cinema
Fast Five - 7.5/10 It's not something extremely amazing but it was a really fun movie to watch. One of the better in the genre in my opinion. Interesting after credit cliff hanger too, but it makes me think the next film will be a milk.
wow i really like christian bale's accent in this movie, he's one of the masters of this time in cinema
you realise christian bale is british, right? his american accent is the fake one
I've heard the audio of him getting pissed at a camera crew man and i have a deep and passionate man lust for him. i'm saying that tough british accent is my favorite. and he's welsh, i think there's a difference [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] eh, maybe not but still.
The Dark Knight is very far from perfect.
you're right. it's great but I wasn't moved by it. Begins was more soothing to the soul.
the dark knight moved me because of how fantastic it was
I watched it and it had a good message but I felt it was very odd and disjointed and all in all it was a bit of a wank, 7/10
This. The movie was a good watch and I recommend it to anyone. But some parts weren't very well exectued, it could've been much better.
eXistenZ - 7/10 Videodrome with television replaced by videogames(trade down, then), James Woods replaced by Jude Law(trade down, then) and the tumor scene replaced by a gun made from animal bones that uses human teeth as ammo(that's pretty equal on the scale, I figure). Not Cronenberg's best work but hey, if you liked Videodrome you're probably gonna like this. It's okay. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline] The SFX were great though, but I guess that's standard fare for Cronenberg. [editline]4th September 2011[/editline]
Going to watch The Boondock Saints
No. Don't do it. Never.
Super 8 - 7/10. A very enjoyable film overall, but there are plenty of fairly significant faults; the over the top train wreck is ridiculous, as is Dr Woodward surviving it, especially since his survival has very little importance to the plot, the alien's design is quite weak, the ending is a bit cliched, Cary is a terrible character who is never developed beyond his role as a pyromaniac, and the fact that the film forgets Charles completely towards the end, having Cary in the final scenes instead of him is just terrible. Nonetheless, it has a lot of strengths. There's a lot of effort put into the set up, most of the characters other than Cary are pretty good, and are quite well developed for a movie of this kind, and it's paced well.
Alien Great atmosphere.
the dark knight moved me because of how fantastic it was
Only part that I got goosebumps was Joker being thrown off the building and laughing on his way down.
you're right. it's great but I wasn't moved by it. Begins was more soothing to the soul.
True, Batman Begins was much better...
did i just stumble into backwards land or something
True, Batman Begins was much better...
Better acting by Bale too. Batman in TDK seemed too empty.
Batman in The Dark Knight wasn't as good because it wasn't really about him this time, but more about the Joker and Harvey Dent. But, that's just how I see it at least. Both are great films that are really different. Even the score for the first one is more personal while the sequel is more intense and based around chaos.
i'd just like to say the girl they used in begins was so much more hotter than maggie gyllenhaal, which was a plus. and cillian murphy. and a bunch of awesome psychotropic hallucination scenes. it seemed a bit rag tag to me for some reason though. the dark knight felt much more real to me. plus the joker walking out of the hospital blowing up behind him... in a nurse's outfit. that shit was priceless
The theatrics in Begins were much more "Gothic" like it's meant to be. Lol i just got why it's called "Gotham" :v:
god damn it scare crow should have been a bigger player it would have been more awesome
The Ruins - awful film, stupid and boring as hell with soulless characters. 3/10.
Sphere - 9/10
Thor - 9/10 Some people hated it, some loved it. I really liked it. In my point of view it was an amazing movie (not perfect, due to the gay ass "humour sidekick" and some other stuff). The sound effects were good, the Visual effects were amazingly done. And best of all, the story. Marvel studios always has this "thing". To merge fantasy and science in such a way that it really sparks your imagination. And Thor is so far the best Marvel movie I've seen. [sp]The Bifrost parts were by far the best CGI I've seen this year. And it also had astonishing credits. The cameos (Hawkeye, Tony Stark) were surprising in a good way.[/sp] If you can bare the shitty humour and just watch it for the well paced story and amazing CGI, then I recommend it.
I liked Thor aswell. It seemed a little childish but I still enjoyed it.
I liked Thor aswell. It seemed a little childish but I still enjoyed it.
I can't wait for the day Marvel releases an R-rated high budget quality movie. I can only hope.
TrollHunter 8/10 Another example of found footage movies done right. next up, Citizen Kane for the first time.
Didn't like Mr. Nobody. Our Idiot Brother was funny but mostly just made me hate women. The Five Obstructions was ______________________.
4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days - 8/10. Everything I love in a movie: Long takes, naturally flowing dialogue, and great acting. It falls short two points in that there was one thing one of the primary characters did that I feel was really, really fucking dumb considering the circumstances.
The theatrics in Begins were much more "Gothic" like it's meant to be. Lol i just got why it's called "Gotham" :v:
Well, Gotham is an old nickname for New York City. Apparently, the name comes from some English village in which everyone acted batshit crazy in order to avoid paying taxes. Fuckin' A, am I right?
