Its nice if you think of it as an action flick instead of a movie based on the Hitman games.
But not as good as most other action flicks.
Tarantino had one great movie in him, Pulp Fiction. Reservoir Dogs was very good, and everything else was either decent but derivative(the Kill Bill flicks, for example) or complete and utter shit, still derivative(Death Proof and From Dusk Till Dawn, for example). [editline]5th September 2011[/editline] Oh and True Romance, True Romance is actually his best work alongside Pulp Fiction.
your opinions are stupid and wrong and all you're doing is forcefully limiting yourself from enjoying genuinely fantastic movies
your opinions are stupid and wrong and all you're doing is forcefully limiting yourself from enjoying genuinely fantastic movies
Oh, I'm enjoying genuinely fantastic movies quite often. Thing is, Tarantino hasn't made a whole lot of those. Then again you liked the fucking Boondock Saints but hated Dr. Strangelove so I figure that your vision of what can be considered a "genuinely fantastic film" is already pretty goddamn skewered. [editline]5th September 2011[/editline] Hot DAMN, that was one helluva comeback.
Our Idiot Brother 7/10 Me any my buddies watched it while high, and it only had a few funny parts. Good storyline and clever though.
You can see how it would fool someone.
That's why I usually ignore trailers and read reviews. I don't have to care about the person's opinion. If they're a good critic than I can usually get a good idea of what the movie is like and whether or not it's up my alley.
What was that? From what I recall that film is based on a true story
Yeah I had read something about that, tis about two university students in Romania during 1987, (under communist rule at the time), arranging an illegal abortion. Good fucking movie you should all see. [editline]5th September 2011[/editline] Thinking about it now, I'll have to give it another go.
It's my favorite movie, I have all the posters in my room and own the UK triple play Blu-Ray and the German steelbook, as well as the OST and artbook, of course. You might hate it, but Sucker Punch has a huge cult following. But, hey, at least we can all agree the Sucker Punch game is a pile of shite, yes? http://suckerpunchmovie.warnerbros.com/game/ Lastly, to show my tastes aren't all what Facepunch universally hates:
Congratulations you just made me ashamed to like Persona 3. Sucker Punch is a piece of shit... I imagine Zack Snyder's only thought while making it was "SLOOO MOO EVERYTHING" Also the last movie I saw was Videodrome and it was pretty freakin good 8/10
Oldboy 9/10 that ending, man. brilliantly thought The man from nowhere 8/10, loved it, especially the gruesome parts. and the fight scenes were awesome The Tunnel 8/10. Didn't expect much at first since IMDB gave it a 6, but damn not only was it scary as shit but it impressed me alot. the whole place where they film does half of the movie.

Death Proof is pretty terrible, but it's Blue Velvet in comparison to TBS. The only movie that managed to make me physically ill, and this is coming from someone who sat through Starship Troopers 2, Spawn, Batman & Robin and Repossessed. There's not a single redeeming factor to TBS, unless you're an angst-ridden, short bus-riding 12-year old in which case all the "hardc0re edg1n3ss" really oughta rock your socks off. Troy Duffy's a sub-retard shitbird. Tangled 9/10 Would give a 10 if the musical numbers were more memorable

And you probabaly watched TBS 2 then, the first one is actually good but the sequel is pure trash.
Oldboy: 5/10, i dont watch movies to read, subtitles suck, but the fighting was cool Blackswan: 4/10, boring girls movie, only good parts was when she fingers her self and when the other chick eats her out Moon: 6/10, best part was when he is singing and the other guy gets really mad, overall it was quite dull and boring Sunshine: 6/10, movie had no direction, and made no sense, sort of cool though. 2001 a space odyssey: 2/10, more like a snooze odyssey, slept most of the way through, boring as hell. The usual suspects: 6/10, actually quite fun to watch, the end twist was like something a high school student would write though.
I'll bet you think Transformers is a masterpiece.

sunshine has more direction than an addict in a gps enabled car on his way to his dealer's house seriously though you say something is fun to watch but you rate it the same as something "dull and boring"? or half life 2... so fuckin brilliant, almost with every level you get closer and closer to the combine tower with everything finally ending at the top of said tower. also does anyone else just love it when they use a favorite song of yours for a scene/ending/credits that fits so well? like lou reed's perfect day in trainspotting (when mcgregor over doses), or where is my mind in fight club. especially analyze in the prestige. it took me so fucking off guard on my recent rewatch but even the lyrics themselves fit with the movie thematically.
also does anyone else just love it when they use a favorite song of yours for a scene/ending/credits that fits so well?
That is such a cheap method to add some emotion to the scene, I bet you love Zack Snyder's films.
if ur gonna troll try to do a better job next time
So because my opinion differs from yours, I'm trolling?
I'll bet you think Transformers is a masterpiece.
The first transformers movie was ok, I think the second was better though. Still haven't seen the third but my friend says it's pretty good, so I'll have to get around to seeing it. Just finished watching Monsters then, the CGI was pretty bad and the chemistry between the characters didn't feel right. Little thought was put into the monster design in my opinion and the ending felt premature. All up I'll give it a 6/10. EDIT: forgot to mention the parts where they had the actors talking when they weren't in shot, their voices often sounded too loud and unnatural. Did anyone else think the main girl was the one who took the passports so she could prolong her time away from her fiance?
That is such a cheap method to add some emotion to the scene, I bet you love Zack Snyder's films. So because my opinion differs from yours, I'm trolling?
man you're such a subtle asshole.

Movies that garner such huge amounts of "internet hype" are at best mediocre and worthless(American Psycho) or downright terrible, style-over-substance garbage that (funnily enough)lacks a style of its own(Equilibrium, The Boondock Saints) at worst. Death Proof is a self-indulgent Tarantino vanity project suffering from poor pacing, atrocious dialogue, a paper-thin plot and uninteresting protagonists, not to mention a bloated, overlong running time(it could have been at least half an hour shorter, it's not like anything worth mentioning happens anyway). It's no good. [editline]6th September 2011[/editline] Out of the Past - 8/10 Textbook noir and one of the best films the genre has to offer.
I was expecting "Sucker Punch: 10/10 Simple story that I could enjoy, nothing too complicated :) "
But it doesn't have a simple story, however idiots like you can join the critics who just didn't 'get it' and wrote it off because of this.
But it doesn't have a simple story, however idiots like you can join the critics who just didn't 'get it' and wrote it off because of this.
Just because it has a "complex" story doesn't automatically make it good either.
self-indulgent Tarantino vanity project
self-indulgence is best indulgence.
I watched the first Saints and it was just awe-inspiringly terrible. It's no good.
I like how most cinema snobs hates Tarantino because he's somewhat popular. Even if Death Proof had some long dialogue with the girls protagonists, all the scenes with Stuntman Mike were pretty awesome scenes. And, anyways most of the boring scenes are forgiven because of that awesome car chase scene. American Psycho is another good film, but since it's popular you probably had to dislike it. You sound exactly like some film snobs I know, that hate films that are popular even if they're decent just to be cool and unique!!!
But it doesn't have a simple story, however idiots like you can join the critics who just didn't 'get it' and wrote it off because of this.
It's story isn't SIMPLE, it's RETARDED. A girl gets locked away in an insane asylum by her abusive stepfather and once there she projects a brothel onto the asylum as a coping mechanism (how is being a whore better than being a falsely accused mental patient???????). The stepfather wants to get her lobotomized so she doesn't tell anybody about how he raped her younger sister. But in the meantime, in brothel world she 'performs' seductive dances WHICH WE NEVER SEE which are represented to the audience by imaginary fight scenes, where there is absolutely no risk of death as it's not real therefore they are utterly boring and pointless. Also the action is pathetic and terrible. All the while she is supposed to be dancing and mesmerizing people for some reason. Now let me see if I remember the rest correctly. She has a time limit to escape from the brothel/whorehouse before a lobotomy specialist arrives there to turn her into a vegetable, so she enlists the aid of her fellow inmates (WHO ARE UGLY (SO IS SHE)) to hatch a plan of escape, which involves mesmerizing people with dancing while they steal stuff, which again are represented as retarded inconsequential fight scenes. Eventually her and the sole remaining girl are able to walk out the front door. And it's then, that the MAIN CHARACTER OF THE FILM decides that she is NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER OF THE FILM and that the least likeable character she escaped with IS IN FACT THE MAIN CHARACTER (she isn't this is stupid), and sacrifices herself for the other girl, allowing her to escape. And that's not even the stupidest part. The main character gets lobotomized and the other girl goes and takes a bus. But for some reason the bus driver is THAT OLD GUY FROM HER IMAGINARY FIGHT SCENES, who appears to have actually recalled those fights as he protects the girl from police and gives her a bit of the old 'wink wink'. That doesn't make any fucking sense. The movie is FUCKING RETARDED AND TERRIBLE Zack Snyder has said he meant for the film to mainly be about female empowerment. But I don't see how having the girls be totally defenceless in real life, only powerful in their imaginations, totally submissive to male control, and then having the main character literally give up and accept death, is female empowerment. If anything this film is highly demeaning to women. Shit movie. Move on.
