Munich 8.8/10 Spielberg's only truly great movie in the 2000s... it's not as good as Schindler's List but he knows how to do it. Tree of Life 9/10 Great experience... the plot isn't deep, it's only about you witnessing what life is (or can be...) well it's relateable to all people. Visually it is breathtaking and really gives you this "out of body" experience. Very psychedelic. Sean Penn doesn't do much, but he's awesome as always. The actual "plot" with the family is filled with heart. A contender for best movie of the year.
I've heard watching Tree of Life while high is a bad idea.
Hannah -17/10 Is it bad that I thought this was a horrible piece of trash that didn't make a lick of sense, I was actually saddened by the fact that I'm never getting that hour and a half of my life back, Holy shit it's so boring and it drones on without explaining shit. In my opinion that is.
hannah wasn't a bad film it just built up like the secret behind her was something huge and then it just kind of fizzled out anticlimactically which seriously pisses me off
I've heard watching Tree of Life while high is a bad idea.
I would have thought it's a perfect movie to be psychedelic to. I don't want to endorse taking drugs, but that movie requires next to no thinking at all, it just takes you places. Although there is a plot, it's not exactly trying to be "an original story" and rather a life everyone knows.
Session 9 About 6.5 / 10 Certainly not bad, and kept me interested. But I have to say the plot twist isn't subtle at all, one of the characters just says "Hey... Fuck Yoooooouuuu" And then all hell breaks loose. Still, not bad.
Seed of Chucky- 4/10 Never seen any of the other Child's Play movies, but this one was pretty bad. I mean, I enjoyed it, but it's simply a bad film. Billy Boyd, who I love as an actor, was one of the most annoying movie characters I've ever seen, no exaggeration. Some might say he was deliberately annoying, but here's the thing, deliberately annoying is still annoying. It was mediocre. Probably won't watch it again, but I'll check out the other Chucky films because I like the concept so much.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Chucky has been shit since the beginning, no more than a good laugh. Also, the concept isn't even original.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4. 8/10 for entertainment value, nowhere near the awesome of the first ones though.
Fargo 9/10
Dark Star, 8/10.
The Host (2006) - 7.5/10
The Big Sleep 8.7/10 I loved this movie, though it's tend to drone on abit sometimes, maybe it's because I'm not used to watching movies that carry on a coherent conversation for more than two minutes, though still pretty damn good.

Watching 1 horror movie a day for each day of October. Day 1: Paranormal Activity 2/5 (4/5 with rifftrax) A pretty bad movie with a pretty interesting idea. So much wasted time, so much hate for the 2 characters, so much stupidity the closer you get to the end. Was actually pretty cool when it was early on keeping the hauntings more subtle though. Slowly things just become generic poorly shot horror movie though the closer you get to the end. Watched this with Rifftrax. It fills all those boring gaps of nothing this movie has with rather hilarious commentary. In fact, I'd say it's probably one of my favorite Rifftrax. The movie just works so well with them. Day 2: Haunting at the Beacon 1/5 Oh god is this movie is bad. This is why I don't pick random insta-streams from Netflix. It tries to be psychological about a mother who lost her child, but the whole thing is just sci fi original quality crap. The only part that that was amusing was near the end, the main male lead is trying to get past the ghosts to save his wife and there's all this talk about how to defeat the ghost spiritually to make them pass on and all this crap. What does he do? He grabs a fire extinguisher off the wall and starts bonking the ghosts on the head with it. It's almost like at that point (maybe a couple points before) the movie just realized how shitty it was and decided "Eh, this isn't working, lets just make it a comedy". It was a little too late for the mood swing though, this movie was far past saving. Day 3: I Am Legend 3/5 Well, it's better than the previous 2 movies, not that you need to try that hard. I'm not quite sure actually where to put this on the scale though. It's a movie with a messege I completely disagree with and it shoves that messege down your throat at the last third of the movie. Some people might like it, but I don't. Those zombies are out to eat us. Why should I give a damn about their feelings when they destroyed humanity, dumbed down the human race to nothing, and have no proper reaction to anything faster than a turtle other than to bite it's face off. We clearly can't live with these things, and they're hunting us down, so no. You cannot make me feel compassion for them. Oh wait, I accidentally watched the alternate ending first. Watching the real ending afterwards, if I had seen that, I'd say it was a pretty ok movie. Horrible CGI, but some tense moments, some sad moments, some good fun with Will Smith. It's no 28 days later but nice to see a couple more less campy zombie movies out there. And no, I will not argue it, those were zombies. As for tomorrow's movie, not sure what I should watch yet, but I have an emergency list.
what horrible CGI
I Am Legend was pretty boring. And kinda anti-climatic.
I want to watch PI because it's a Darren aronofsky film, good idea?
I didn't like Pi at all, it was hard to sit through and I feel like it didn't have any real message or story. It was trying to be smart and bizarre and just ended up being incoherant and unenjoyable but there are plenty of people who disagree with me most of whom have wind tunnel hair, rolled up skinny jeans and thick rimmed glasses

8/10 Excellent. Challenging and surreal, even by Lynch's standards, but excellent.
Horrible CGI
Wut? The CGI was good.
can you think of any pulp fiction, fight club, mr nobody, the fountain, requiem for a dream-esque films?
L.A. Confidential. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] actually it's a little less dark than those movies, but still awesome.
L.A. Confidential. [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] actually it's a little less dark than those movies, but still awesome.
sounds cool, dark movies are awesome too. I saw the tree of life trailer and this was one of the top comments
I might be the only I know who truly love this movie. I don't no why, but this masterpiece is the greatest thing I ever watched. I'm not really that in to art movies, but this movie made me cry from the start to the end in a very happy way. I'm not really a sensitive guy, but the beauty of this movie blow my mind away. It is so different. It takes me back to* my own childhood. If you don't like deep movies with hidden messages or don't have any emotions, don't bother watching this movie.
sounds like a perfect movie for me
sounds cool, dark movies are awesome too. I saw the tree of life trailer and this was one of the top comments sounds like a perfect movie for me
Well it's a very "spiritual" movie, but damn good experience. Kind of like 2001 in terms of out of body experiences.
Well it's a very "spiritual" movie, but damn good experience. Kind of like 2001 in terms of out of body experiences.
yeah I quite like spiritual movies, the fountain was amazing for me (mainly because clint mansell is a musical God)
Wut? The CGI was good.
I could never believe anything was real when they showed CGI stuff. That would have been amazing CGI for a CGI only movie, but sadly Will Smith and the settings were not CGI, so they just ended up looking like enemies from Doom 3. They either needed to turn will smith CGI, or turn the CGI into old fashion humans with makeup and costumes.
"Gränsen" (2011) English title is "Beyond the Border" 8/10 I'd say it's in class with Saving Private Ryan. Trailer:
Its a funny, interesting, and very unique movie about an angry Irish cop in the west of Ireland. 9/10
are you kidding, hanna was fucking fantastic [editline]4th October 2011[/editline] especially the soundtrack
Great story, terrible execution.
The Wrestler is so different to anything he's made, but damn good. Pi is similar in certain respects to Requiem, but perhaps a more abstract story.
