So there was a $2 ticket offer in my cinema and just when I was about to buy one for Rise of the planet of the apes I left because I decided to do other shit. Now I feel like a complete idiot because I missed such a good oportunity to watch a decent film (by the way, I never ever go to the cinema because It's too fucking expensive).
Agree if the movie was decent and I should die or Disagree if I made the right decition.

It's pretty much what you would expect from a movie called "Rise of the Planet of the Apes".
The Godfather 9/10
Really great. It still managed to be extremely engaging even though it was very slow. I loved it, and I can't believe I didn't see it sooner. I hear the sequels are pretty good so I'll probably watch those too.
A side note, my dog freaked out when there was a donkey or something very far away in the background for about half a second when Al Pacino was in Sicily. I really should just watch movies on my laptop instead of my tv on the off chance that there will be some sort of animal in them.
The Mask 6.5/10
It had a few funny moments, but overall I was pretty disappointed.
Also, I didn't know that Carrey's character had a dog. My dog knew something was up when I stopped the movie and went to my room, and he would bark whenever his dog would. I ended up using headphones too.

The second is a lot broader and intense. I still prefer the first, but once you watch the second, all the care you had for a certain individual in the first will be lost. :)
American History X
8.5/10

9/10. Man, don't think I've ever seen so much of myself reflected in a movie before.
Taxi Driver
8/10
Anyone ever noticed how long the security guys legs it?

The Fist Of The North Star (1986)
8.5/10
Great movie with incredible amounts of badassery.
watched the original star wars
expected a hell of a lot more
7/10
ORIGINAL original or rerelease
I watched the blu-ray, and I'm well aware of all of the changes he made, and keeping them in mind and pretending they're not there, I still was left with a bit of a 'eh' feeling toward the film.
It had very good design, and lots of iconic imagery as well as characters. But overall the film felt overly simple and uneventful. But it's at least infinitely better than the prequels.

I was expecting a really solid, classic film. What I got was more forgettable than classic.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good film. Just not that good of one, I can see why people like it, but just not as much as they do.
Yeah Star Wars is overrated. It was good for it's time but it hasn't aged well.

Free movie tickets are always good.

Poor judgement.
Fix how your mindset is while watching older movies.
Watched Nowhere Boy yesterday.
As a film I liked it, but from everything else I've read there are a lot of inaccuracies and creative liberties taken. I still enjoyed it though, some great performances and a cool soundtrack. It's a lot like Rebel Without a Cause, but set in post-war Britain. You sort of forget that you're watching John Lennon every now and again.
Overall, I'd recommend it. Probably 7.5/10.

I don't need to fix shit, it's my opinion.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a good example of a movie that has aged well.

The sexual tension with him mum freaked me out a little in that film
Just rewatched Blue Valentine. Too sad.
Anyone seen Brazil? I got it on DVD from a yard sale, and I've heard it's a good movie, but not sure if I want to devote 132 minutes to it.
Do it.

Yes, and I only watched A New Hope so far, still have to watch the other two.
Might just be my rose tinted glasses talking but I'll never tire of rewatching the original trilogy.
They're quite literally my favorite films ever made, bought the trilogy on DVD when it came out and quickly threw those out after they released the original original trilogy on DVD.
I'll never be able to understand anyone that can't love them unless they're not really into scifi/fantasy movies... but I did see them when I was really little and impressionable.

You'll love the other two then. They're way more eventful than the first one.

Any examples of movies in the same genre of Star Wars that have aged well according to you?
Watched any pre-1960s movies too?
