okay will watch Grave of the Fireflies.
can't be THAT much of a tearjerker.. come on.
okay, ALMOST gave way but it did pretty much draw the soul out of me.
What a movie.
9/10
[editline]25th October 2011[/editline]
also watched Source Code, and it was enjoyable.
7/10
It wasn't as thematic as it could have been, but the concept was sound.
[editline]25th October 2011[/editline]
it hasn't aged brilliantly
It is a 70 year old movie.

I thought that it wasn't sad at all. Very predictable.

Maybe you look at it and say "yeah, that happened... so what" but there's a lot of imagery here.
Solaris
6/10
I know the original book and I have to give in to the critics saying that the focus of the book was the AI of the planet, not the love but for what it is it was a pretty good movie.
12 angry men
10/10
One of my favorite movies for some reason.
That movie Contagion was ok, seve
The Book of Eli - 4/10...
Stupid over stylized action sequences marred what was already lacking in character and a truly moronic plot.
+4 for Mila Kunis, Gary Oldman, and Denzel Washington.

did you watch the remake or the original?

For second or third time.
Fun movie, I try to watch it every time I catch it on TV.
phone booth is surprisingly good. i think the first time i watched it i thought it was boring as hell but on my rewatches i realized the brilliance of it. plus keifer sutherland is a total boss, just hearing his voice makes me want to squee like a little girl.
you can catch it on FX like every other week, the editing is pretty funny though, although it's seamless you can tell if you're halfway decent at lip reading they said something completely different

Please tell me how the plot is moronic
Please tell me how the plot is moronic
The plot is VERY moronic. Like, really really bad.
Spoilers: The whole thing is just a confused mess, it doesn't know whether it's pro or con religion. Personally I found myself siding with Gary Oldman in the film, because he was totally right, the bible IS a weapon. As for the plot itself, it doesn't get any stupider. A very competent Deznel is walking around a post apocalyptic land protecting his bible which for all intents and purposes is the last one. Then for no reason a hot skimpy bimbo joins up with him after Denzel wastes a bunch of Gary's goons with precision aiming. The rest of the film is them wandering aimlessly about, slaughtering goons that try to steal his bible, and then in the end, it turns out HE WAS BLIND THE WHOLE TIME and the bible is IN BRAILLE. Talk about fucking retarded.
I should also mention the action scenes were very boring and lifeless and the only good one was ruined by making it completely in silhouette. It was just a shitty, shitty movie with a horrendously stupid 'plot twist' that made literally no sense "YEAH HE WAS SHOOTING PEOPLE IN THE HEAD BY SOUND MAN and that explains why he didnt act or appear like a blind person EVEN ONCE IN THE FILM!"
I really just don't think you're perceptive enough UnidentifiedFlyingTard. You watch something, but you don't really WATCH something.
you're wrong about one thing.
he kicks the step on his way up into the [sp]cannibal's[/sp] house to know where to put his foot, or just because he couldn't see but he's like a fucking cat so he shifted his weight back as to not trip
that's really one of the only ones i noticed.
also the movie is clearly pro religion. he heard god's voice or something like that, i dunno, but there was one thing that made it out to seem like he was on a divine mission guided by god. i think even a [sp]blind[/sp] person can be a total badass at murder with god's help.
[editline]25th October 2011[/editline]
i still like the movie, if only for the tone.
Watched First Blood, was pretty awesome, I love movies where the main character has to make do with what they've got. And there was a good message behind the movie, though they laid it on a tad too heavy. Didn't enjoy the second half as much as the first.
4/5
Watching Part II now, can't say I enjoy it as much. I don't believe the Asian chick's broken english at all. I'd prefer she just fucking speak it correctly because you can tell she can.
[sp]And the part where they fall in love and she gets shot literally 2 minutes later.. seriously that was just bad.[/sp] Overall it felt like a cash grab sequel which it likely was.

I enjoyed it, I love Post Apocalyptic things to death, always have, but yeah the Eli is blind twist is pretty dumb, and I find myself siding with Gary Oldman as well.
also if you listen you can Eli him chirping like bat in some scenes, its fucking retarded.
and the soundtrack kicks ass.

i don't remember him chirping like a bat. i think one of the many people i went to go see it with pointed that out to me though.
i too enjoy post apocalyptic shit like this, it was almost kind of like fallout the movie for me, and the soundtrack and imagery were pretty incredible sometimes.
i'd rather be living in a post apocalyptic time than the present one. one day i hope the bombs do fall and i manage to find shelter, or some shit like that.

wait... there's a third one now?
they were fucking retarded to make a second one but a third?
the first one was all right... though it kind of fueled the inferno raging in my mind at the time because i was crazy :downs:
[editline]26th October 2011[/editline]
really though book of eli is one of those movies you watch when you're fucked up. it's got everything the mind needs when it's fucked up. a hot bitch, some badass motherfucker, some badass crazy mother fucker, awesome tone, setting and scenery.. i mean the list goes on but yeah.
also that reminds me. the road. 10/10
In time - 8/10
Great movie. The general concept is awesome
The Room.
8/10 on the first viewing, 1/10 on any afterwards.
Whoever can decipher Tommy Wiseau's accent gets my next paycheck. Seriously, it's some sort of fucked up mix between English, French and Eastern-European.
I watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and it was truly god awful, half an hour in I felt like my brain was slowly melting, then near the end I swear by all that is holy I nearly had a brain hemorrhage. All that it contained was very boring people talking non stop. Throw is some action scenes and a half interesting plot, and you might nearly have a half decent movie.

I don't mean to be a dick, but why would you be stupid enough to go see that? The trailer already shows you how laughingly horrible it is.
Scream 9/10
Bloody, funny and entertaining. One of my favorite slasher movies.
Scream 2 8/10
It doesn't match the first, but it's still really enjoyable.
Scream 3 6/10
Unnecessary sequel, quite boring at times, but in the end it's always nice to see some more of ghost face.
Just got back from Rum Diary. Movie is ok (wont watch it second time, though), if not considering that all of the movie jokes were in trailer. On the other hand, it's interesting to watch Hunter's early years life story.
Could someone throw some names of some good comedy or war films out? Need something to watch on late nights.
It's decent I guess
Red Mist AKA Freakdog 5/10.
An interesting concept that falls completely flat. It never does anything truly awesome with it and the ending is just a big nasty wet fart.
