How can you not have watched that as a kid. True classic. :v:
I have no idea why I watched so few movies as a kid. And those that I did watch I've forgotten. I have sooo muuuch to catch up on.
One of the reasons I didn't watch many classics is probably because I was the fourth child and my parents were sick to death of watching all those old Disney movies.
And no cinema back then either.
Also yeah while I'm here, posting. From this list of movies I have here, what should I aim to watch next?
Well, watch after Monty Python and the Holy Grail anyway.
Oh man, just realised I've fairly gone through all the movies on my hard drive. Only have Crash and Taken left to go.
So yeah, which of those two should I watch first?
Since you're all super duper movie buffs.

Watched it last night. Is awesome.
The Abyss - 9/10
Solidified my Cameron Hard-on, but I feel the movie could have been way better if there wasn't the Sea aliens or whatever. I grew attached to the characters and all but the ending just felt like, oh, we've got bud in an impossible situation but it'd be totally sad if he died, so lets throw some aliens at the situation so it's a happy ending. I would have rathered he died so the others could live.
Don't worry, Cameron makes up for it:

Definitely one of the better Cameron movies. I enjoyed The Abyss alot more than I enjoyed Avatar.
I also loved the way the aliens in The abyss communicated. It gave a much more powerful effect than if they would've talked to him directly.
Scarface - 8/10
I liked it, and its funny how Tony really becomes an ass in the end, to the point that you where happy [sp]when he got killed[/sp]

He was always an ass.

Al Pacino is hilarious in it.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn - 8/10
Beautiful and very entertaining but Tintin's character was quite flat.

He's like that in the comics too.
He didn't move in the comics, should he be static in the movie?
No, he didn't have much of a personality at all in the comics so the readers could more easily involve themselves while reading. No point in creating a personality in the movie when he doesn't have one in the comics.
Yes. Yes there is. They are two completely different formats.
Haddock and Snowy made up for it, so I don't see the problem.
Yeah their characters were great.
Already made over $120 mill in Europe, so I'm hoping for a sequel.
My friend told me that Peter Jackson would be directing the sequel.
Of course, I have no actual sources on this.
Army of Darkness 8/10
vaguely reminded me of monty python.
Batman Begins 7/10
Completely unexpected since i had watched Dark Knight first, its actually a very not-so-Nolan-movie if you ask me
My friend told me that Peter Jackson would be directing the sequel.

That is correct, with a script written by Anthony Horowitz.
If the sequel does well then the third one will most likely be directed by both Jackson and Spielberg.
Repo Men - Hmmm it's a hard one. I'd say about 6/10.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
I can't say I enjoyed this too much. The various situations Thompson/Duke and his attorney, Gonzo, got themselves into were surely entertaining, but the film (and the book for that matter, which I read beforehand) lacked any structure. There were really no problem for the characters to solve, and thus no turning point or real ending.
And the "wave speech" about how much the 70s sucks compared to the 60s didn't really seem to have anything to do with the rest of the "story".
Hence how I put "story" in quotation marks. that's because it really didn't have a story. it was just a series of events spread across a hundred or so minutes/pages.
7/10
Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
I really liked it.
De Niro owns, the soundtrack is good and the jumps between time were really well done I have to say.
It's almost four hours long though so be sure to break it up in to viewings.
8.5/10

yeah it's not really meant to have any coherent narrative, it's journalism essentially
Captain America: The First Avenger
7/10
Campy at times but an enjoyable popcorn flick.
Also what's up with Hydra? They're more incompetent than Cobra.
Green Lantern
3/10
It had its moments. But man was it lame. What really irritated me was [sp]the scale of the threat that Parallax was supposed to represent honestly didn't look or feel that serious. I mean you'd seriously think something that had consumed two whole civilizations and billions of lives would be A LITTLE BIT BIGGER, RIGHT? I hated how he kept changing sizes near the end fdgsdfdsf.[/sp] OH and don't get me started with Sinistro. He was awesome but what ticked me off was [sp] him using the Yellow Ring of fear which thus in turn leads to the creation of the Sinistro Corp SERIOUSLY NEEDED TO BE IN THE MAIN FILM NOT SOME SODDING CLIFFHANGER. He needed to be an antagonist by the end of the film because he IS one of the most influential villains in the Green Lantern comics and many of the Justice League comics.[/sp]

[editline]7th November 2011[/editline]
LOTR is lifeless. It's droning. It's people walking and cold emotionless battle scenes.
I don't even like Star Wars that much but it's got heart, it's got great characters, it has unique and interesting stories and they are told well. LOTR has none of this. All the characters are so cold and boring, it's so bleak and just one of the most bland movies I've ever seen.
But few people online agree with me because it's got elves and swords and fighting and wizards and shit and everyone gets boners over that stuff no matter how shitty it is, just like the Elder Scrolls games (which there is absolutely no denying are incredibly poorly made, but everyone fuckin loves them anyway it's beyond me).
Lord of the Rings is the best trilogy ever made. You are so far in the minority with your flaming that its like WBC vs. the U.S.
u really think i care that im in the minority?

Terrible argument.

It's one of the few movies I will admit is good and always hate. God damnit, no part of Minnesota sounds like that, and I've lived in nearly every part of it!
Is the new Conan movie watchable?
