Taken is like a geriatric, much less interesting version of a Bourne movie
and it was hard to like the characters too, "I am going to kill a bunch of innocent people to save my rich and privileged daughter and make sure I ignore all the other girls I come across that need my help more because fuck you I'm Liam Neeson get out of my way blam blam pachoooo"

I apologize for my rage at you. Its just that you always seem so negative towards all kinds of movies.
I am a film buff. I have seen truckloads of films. I can't like every film I see. I do like almost every genre though, just not bad films. And there's lots of bad films for every genre.

Innocent? They are trafficking women. How is that any good. Pretty sure any father would do the same.

But you just happened to also hate several good movies.
I wouldn't consider them good movies though, just ones accepted by the general public, so it's a moot point.

Well not really since wasn't his entire shtick being that he 'had a certain set of skills'? Most fathers would call the police and mourn their daughters

At the end of the day, there was just nothing special about Taken that elevated it above any other, similar film. Nothing stood out about it, it was just Liam Neeson beating people up to find his daughter, it wasn't all that in depth and the writing wasn't amazing, it was just kind of a nothing and forgettable film. But most people harp on about it purely because of Liam Neeson and 'He's so sexy omg and he beats people up what a fuckin bad ass best film ever!!'
Ok, here we go.
None of the characters actions made sense. They had little to no reason to do anything they did.
1. Why was a district attorney investigating Gerard Butler? He is an attorney, not a detective. He has no business or reason for doing half the things he did in that movie. Why is he doing it? Just because. And people keep getting killed because he's doing it. Yet he continues to do it, despite it not at all being his job.
2. Here's my most glaring problem with the film. Spoilers follow: why is it, that when Jamie Foxx and the police, upon discovered Gerard's plan and route of access outside of the prison, decided to blow Gerard up? Like, they killed him. They made him blow himself up. There's a lot of things wrong with this, the first being culpible for his death, and the second being they had absolutely no reason to do this.
Not only could they have sealed up Gerard's prison exit, locking him in there for good, but Jamie Foxx managed to get back to the prison, plant the bomb in gerards cell, and leave, before Gerard even got back, despite Gerard having a heads up. Now, assuming he really did have all this time, surely the bomb could have been diffused or disposed of? Have time to take the bomb somewhere? Why not take it to a landfil, instead of making Gerard Murder himself, and blow up a small portion of a prison (which might even allow other prisoners to escape), especially since they found the path Gerard was using to exit the prison. You have him. He's fucked. He can't get out once you seal that shut, he is, for all intents and purposes, foiled.
Why the fuck do they need to blow him up, if they indeed had enough time to get back to the prison even before he did and plant it there?
Jamie Foxx would be trialed for his part in Gerard's death, surely he knows this. It's a much better idea to take the bomb somewhere where there's no people and maybe damage some uninhabited land slightly, rather than severely damage a prison and kill a man.
Really fucking stupid movie.
Tell it like it is for once.
Also: The godfather: 10/10, why did I wait 17 years to see it?
Is 50/50 any good?

Very good samurai film
13 Assassins was fantastic, absolutely loved it
It had such a great blend of action, comedy and drama. An outstanding narrative that was never boring, even in the lengthy setup for the action, which was spectacularly crafted and emotionally driven.
o'brien beamed the bomb into his cell.
that was so obvious i'm going to rate your next post dumb.
plus he wasn't a detective, sure, but still he's jamie fucking foxx he can do whatever the fuck he wants. if he wants to push it to the edge let him rick ross that shit.
Jurassic park 1/10 Shitty effects and bad acting, no redeeming values.
why do people take it so personally and get so upset when I say bad things about a film? then go all 'URP I CAN SAY GOOD FILMS ARE BAD TOO AND MAKE UP REASONS WHY'
i'm being genuine, if you don't agree with my opinions then bully for you I guess? no need to get so hostile about it
jus rolls with it sparky
The Change Up
6/10
It had its moments, but most of what was funny in the movie was shown way back in the commercial.
Olivia Wilde's ass definitely brought the points up by a few.
Cowboys and Aliens - 5/10
rocco's bitch party 8/10
Really brilliant story.

it would have been a perfect 10 if the crew turned on each other... like the box art for the DVD suggests (like on the back it has the dude who [sp]froze to death saving the mainframe[/sp] walking down the corridor like he's a badguy or something) instead of the pinbacker nonsense. i mean the only fucking way on for pinbacker would have been the airlock and they have like 4 fucking cameras with microphones on them in there plus all the other security... and the AI would have probably told them they've been boarded as soon as they were.
the ending of sunshine was terrible, and it kept changing genres. it was a space drama, then whodunnit, then a space slasher, and finally it went all out science fiction horror
The second half was really disappointing with the whole slasher shit.
The first half however was incredible and I wish that they would've continued that route instead.
the actual ending ending was incredible though. it really made up for the last like 20 minutes.
thankskilling 3/10

except that the fact the genre keeps changing is one of the things keeping it from being a solid movie
that and the fucking retarded supernatural ending
[editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
up till the villain reveal it is a very very good movie. then it's just like
oh...
ooohh....
I agree, it would've been better without the horror side of it but it doesn't make it a bad movie. If it was labeled as a horror movie and not sci-fi, I wouldn't mind it at all.

One of my all time favourite films, no matter how many times I watch it, the ending always makes me cringe.
