The arguments in this thread are mostly the source of trolls.
I'll watch La Vie En Rose and Vengeance is Mine.
I hear Akira is great too.

The Machinist - 7.2/10
Felt like a dull fight club, but I found myself liking it by the end.
Collateral (2004)
7.5/10
127 Hours 8/10
Excellent movie, great suspense.
Hurt Locker - 9/10
Hurt Locker - 9/10
That movie deserves 10/10 score.
That movie deserves 10/10 score.
In my opinion it deserves 7 at the most.
The characters are not likeable and I honestly can't remember a single name or face. The story is meh, nothing out of the ordinary. Terrorist are doing shit, marines have to stop the shit. the end. The only really good thing about the movie are the moments of tention when the protagonist is looking for the bombs.
It's not awful but it's just good. Not at all worthy of it's film of the year award.

In films I usually don't remember names or faces even if I loved them (unless they're really iconic or recognizable actors). I focus more on the actual characters. I don't remember anything about the characters in The Hurt Locker though. The main guy liked to defuse bombs, and all the other guys played grab ass a lot or something. I don't know.
But, it was so emotional! Not really, actually it was a pretty bland film.
And I was pissed when I heard so much about the sniper scene and it turned out to be a really normal scene.
The Room
10/10
Deserves an Oscar.

Stalker and North By Northwest are incredible flicks.
Stalker is actually my favorite movie of all time.
Catch me if you can
like an 8/10
which movies do you guys think are the top 5 movies of the year?
Tintin is definitely one of them.
Peter Pan (1953)- 10/10
One of my favorite films.
If thats you're favorite maybe you'll like aladin(1992) too. Aladin is one of my favorite animated movies.
I can't really think of any mind blowing movie that came out this year (that I have seen).

source code and the tree of life were ok.
source code and the tree of life were ok.
I'd wait before putting Source Code on the top 5 movies of this year...
the Tree of Life I have not seen yet.
The Thing From Another World - 9/10
Thought I'd have a gander at the origins of one my favourite ever movies and found it really, really good. Other than the rediculous decision to make the thing essentially a 'giant carrot' ofcourse, damnit 50's.
Grand Illusion.
That's a great film to watch while you're high.
which movies do you guys think are the top 5 movies of the year?
Tree of Life
Midnight in Paris
Attack The Block
Devil's Double
Harry Potter and the Death of Ralph Fiennes
Yeah I haven't watched too many new things. Yet to see Drive, Moneyball, Hugo, Beginners or any other good ones from this year. So subject to change.
UHF.
10/10.
Just watched The Hurt Locker. I'd probably give it an 8 out of 10.
While I'm not sure it deserved the Best Picture oscar, I think that I've seen a lot of overly harsh criticism of it. I thought it was a pretty good thriller, and I didn't find the characters as bad or bland as some of you seem to have.
True Grit - 8.5/10
Just watched it with my father. Great film, although the ending was rather disappointing.
why do people take it so personally and get so upset when I say bad things about a film? then go all 'URP I CAN SAY GOOD FILMS ARE BAD TOO AND MAKE UP REASONS WHY'
i'm being genuine, if you don't agree with my opinions then bully for you I guess? no need to get so hostile about it

You're shitting me.
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never 10/10 What a inspiration. Flawless in every aspect, and tells so much about the worlds greatest singer. This movie taught me to never give up, no matter how shit my music is. Because if I post it on youtube, some person will think my screeching is talent and I will get a free Ferrari.
Breaking Dawn
0/10
Holy shit, it was a terrible idea to tag along with my female friends. Shit was so bad, I was hoping for hot scenes involving Kristen Stewart or Ashley Greene.
All I got was SHIT.
dude what are you talking about more like 11/10
The Big Lebowski - 8/10
Finally got around to watching it after FilmSlackers subliminal marketing over various threads sunk in. Overall it was interesting to say the least; some of the lines felt like they were improvised and repeated over and over which got sort of irritating after a while, and some scenes (like The Dudes dream sequences) felt like they'd only be entertaining if you were stoned or drunk or a mix of the two. But then some parts made it for me, like the confrontation of Larry, the fight at the end with the German blokes and any scene with Donny involved. Character of the year all years.
