The Big Lebowski - 8/10
Finally got around to watching it after FilmSlackers subliminal marketing over various threads sunk in. Overall it was interesting to say the least; some of the lines felt like they were improvised and repeated over and over which got sort of irritating after a while, and some scenes (like The Dudes dream sequences) felt like they'd only be entertaining if you were stoned or drunk or a mix of the two. But then some parts made it for me, like the confrontation of Larry, the fight at the end with the German blokes and any scene with Donny involved. Character of the year all years.
Dude, Donny sucked. Walter was easily the best character. The Uzi and Smokey/Walter bowling scene are hilarious.
Seriously, fucking Jewish overweight 'Nam veteran with a temper. Whats not to like?
The Big Lebowski is funnier if you've seen The Big Sleep.
[editline]26th November 2011[/editline]
oh and I just watched The Big Sleep
****
Humphrey Bogart is a smooth mother fucker.
V for Vendetta
10 / 10
Tho its the 9x time i am watching it, it will always remain brilliant
Drive is the best movie of the year. Hands down.
took your advice and watched it for the last 2 hours
the entire movie was brilliant 10/10

Walter was cool, it was just something about how Donny was pushed around and acted in general, I don't know.
fight club 10/10

DAT TWIST

I sometimes lie and say to people I haven't seen this film just to see their reactions.
it was ~amazing~
can't say no to marty scorsese.
Ghost Town (2008)
A comedy about an egocentric prick of a dentist (Ricky Gervais) that gains the ability to see and talk to ghosts.
I enjoyed it quite a lot.
8/10
Ghost World is better because a world is bigger than a town. Although I was disappointed because it didn't actually have real ghosts in it. Only metaphorical ones.
Come to think of it.
There hasn't been that many good movies this year. Drive is really the one that stood out the most for me.
This year i really enjoyed Rango, Drive and 50/50.
Super 8 and Tin Tin were nice too, but yeah.
[editline]27th November 2011[/editline]
as for WORST film i'd say Sucker Punch.
man, what a crock of shit.
Still have Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy to look forward to. Though I think Tinker is out already for everyone outside of the states.
I'm pretty sure Drive is going to still be my favourite of the year, it was just the film with a style that I love a lot.
Pulp Fiction
10/10
Masterpiece. I intend to watch Goodfellas soon.
Reign Over Me.
10/10
I bawled like a little girl.
I prefer Goodfellas over Pulp Fiction personally.
both are on the same level to me. goodfellas is a better made film but pulp fiction has so much to it it makes up for quality with quantity.
also dead n****r storage... lol

they're different kinds of films
they're different kinds of films
They're both written and directed by Martin Tarintino and they came out at around the same time.
They're both written and directed by Martin Tarintino and they came out at around the same time.
lol
Besides, Reservoir Bulls is better than both of them.
Virtuosity, 1995
The story of a virtual villain's successful attempt to escape into the "real world". SID 6.7, the villain program portrayed by Russell Crowe, is eventually transplanted into an android body and escapes. Parker Barnes, a reinstated police officer played by Denzel Washington, is given the chance to catch him
I wanted to give this movie a solid 5 as I really love the way it plays with classic tropes and Russell Crowe playing SID 6.7; however, the faults come from parts of the film just being so stupid and so out there that you wonder why they're there and why they were even added to film. There is even a BLAM scene involving a prison fight that's only shown once and never brought up again. Overall a cool look at a world twenty minutes into the future and a fun take-out-your-brain-and-enjoy film.
Rating: 4 out of 5
That movie deserves 10/10 score.
aaaaaaaaaa!!
its like you guys WANT me to keep telling you how terrible some movies are
i mean, a 10/10 for that piece of shit? COME ON
[editline]27th November 2011[/editline]
Tree of Life
Midnight in Paris
Attack The Block
Devil's Double
Harry Potter and the Death of Ralph Fiennes
Yeah I haven't watched too many new things. Yet to see Drive, Moneyball, Hugo, Beginners or any other good ones from this year. So subject to change.
I don't think that's a very good list tbh
I would say
Drive
Moneyball
and um
somebody please remind me of all the other 2011 movies? is there a list somewhere?

Why is The Help so low
How did Jack and Jill beat it
HOW DID TWILIGHT BEAT IT
At least Tower Heist got somewhere decent, t'was a decent film....
BUT TWILIGHT BEAT IT
God damn. The general populace has an appalling taste in film. The Help should be number 1 on that list.
ok thanks
In order starting with the best
Drive
Moneyball
Hanna
Contagion
The Guard
Source Code
Hobo with a Shotgun
Red State
Rango
Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Super 8
X-Men: First Class
Crazy Stupid Love
Bridesmaids
Horrible Bosses
Cowboys and Aliens
Human Centipede II
I think that's about it
