we own the night - 8/10. mark wahlberg with yet another great performance.
batman begins owns and anybody who says otherwise can eat pavement
It does own, I just liked The Dark Knight more.
Micro Men. 8/10 . Both educational and exciting.

Then what's the point in going into all "It's silly because it's a superhero movie" fiasco. That's all you needed to say.
Will watch "Burn After Reading".

Aiiie that's the most hilarious thing at 3AM in the morning when you're easily amused. Well spotted.
Anyway, got around to watching The Breakfast Club. The script treatment is Stanislavski-level compared to how creepy St. Elmo's Fire is.
Just call St Elmo's a sequel and get over it - although it doesn't have the kickass power ballad...

I rate this film 9/10. French language film about a life story of a women who has just died. The film is unique in the way it tells the story. You will get a 10 minute segment of her life which makes little sense but then you follow her daughter who is trying to uncover the truth about her past for 10 minutes and then the story unravels. The ending is twisted, chilling, brilliant and satisfying all at the same time.
Had some friends round and the room afterwards was electric, it's been a while I seen a film do that to everyone. The feeling was similar to after I had watched 'Lives of others' the german film about the old Germany.
I don't really like the Batman films, Bale is average and uninspiring and the Joker was a lip licker which seemed to fool everyone into thinking he was great. Just saying.

Hey you're the one that twisted my words.
Horrible Bosses. Laughed my ass off.

I love Nicholas Winding Refn
I discovered my love of NWR after seeing Valhalla Rising shortly after it came out.
Inception, eight out of some number that's a little bit higher than eight
That ending was fucking cheap.
No I think it was a good ending. It makes you think and pay more attention to detail the next time you watch it... also I had an very long discussion with my buddies after that ending, I'm sure everyone did the same.

the Thing (2011) 6/10
An insult to the original, of course, but still watchable.
The odd thing is that even though it's a prequel, the way things happen is really similar to the first. As if it's a remake.
That ending was fucking cheap.
No.
Wrong.

But then I am slightly biased as I am pretty much like this with any movie including Leonardo DiCaprio.
No. That was one of best fucking endings of the decade because it left it up to the viewer what Cobb's fate was.
really?
I didn't think it was all that unique. Besides it doesn't matter what the truth is, just like Blade Runner.
But the truth was pretty much proved
[sp]He only wears a ring in reality and he was wearing a ring at the end[/sp]

Not good enough.
Unlike the unicorn thing in Blade Runner which was kind of a thing in his character, A ring on someone's finger means jackshit.
for all I know, Nolan could have forgotten it was there.
Doesn't matter how many cuts they have. Killing off Newt, bad, bad, bad.
not really, it was tastelessly done but it was probably the best thing to do
assembly cut is way better though, it's more of an 8/10 than a 4/10
Horrible Bosses. Laughed my ass off.
Is it good? The only reason I'd watch it would be because Charlie's in it.

and that's one really good reason.

I've already seen the assembly cut but want to see the original. Can't be THAT bad.
Horrible Bosses is a meh comedy with an amazing cast that helps save it a bit

It does mean something for the character, because it's probably his wedding ring.
Yeah Nolan's not one to just 'forget' it's there, that's kind of Cobb's REAL totem. The spinny top was mal's, which he just kinda used anyway. To the viewer, his totem is his ring, it's consistent throughout the rest of the film, so why wouldn't it be at the end?
And on top of that, it was blatantly obvious that the totem was going to topple over just before it ended. It was decreasing in speed, you heard the sound of it wobbling, how much more could you want?
OT: Lethal Weapon 2 - 8/10
I've just gotten around to watching these films all the way through, and i'm currently on Lethal Weapon 3, so this is the last one i've watched completely. For me, it was good, but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. I enjoyed Riggs so much more when he was suicidal, because it gave a certain edge to his character that made him likeable but completely unstable, allowing his character to do insane acts and really allowing the action to go to the next level. That is not to say that Riggs is a bad character in this movie, but with him being completely stable and even having love interests? Yeah, not as mysterious. Still, 80's action at it's finest, and you can't beat the line "It's just been revoked!".

I was really sucked in on the very first shots. A man wanders through a desert wearing a baseball cap. He seems to be struck with a case of amnesia but we do know there's something in his past that he must make amends with. Strong performance from the lead with some great cinematography. Very beautiful movie.
Going to watch "Lost In Translation" for the first time tonight.
I found that movie to be quite relaxing.

I love that movie. Although Sofia Copolla seems to be stealing from Wong Kar-wai's tool shed a lot.

Fuck's sake, I'll have to watch it again.

It's good to be inspired.
Going to see 'Take Shelter' tonight and 'Hugo' tomorrow morning. It will be a good weekend.
Just watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
Probably 6.5 or 7 out of 10. I enjoyed it, and I understand a lot of the criticism it gets for being too slow - there are some bits that feel like they drag, but I still found it entertaining. The acting is, well, Star Trek-standard. I think the characters are probably a reason I forgive some of its shortcomings. The story itself is pretty cool, it reminded me a bit of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Are there any movies in theaters now that are watchable?
Was thinking of seeing Immortals & Real Steel, though I know I won't propably enjoy them, but just to kill time.
