Conan the Barbarian (2011).
Absolutely terrible. Failed to grip me, poor story, poor acting.
At least the gore scenes were... Somewhat interesting.
I saw 2001 Odyssey, The Shining and Apocalypse Now Redux recently and I don't know for sure what to make of them. Its the type of movies that I understand where they're going but I can't get to the conclusion. What did you think of those movies?

Loved all of 'em.
Especially 2001.

All 3 are magnificent psychedelic experiences.
They all send you round the bend, and draw you into a world of madness. Some of my favourites.

Kind of disconnects you from reality that you're used to.
as born is 1993, I don't find them attractive
the trick is to watch them at a young age.
the first movie/tv show i remember seeing is toy story and ronin warriors, shortly after that time bandits (great idea btw, showing terry gilliam films to your five year-old), and then ghostbusters, followed by a shit ton of disney films. then, i moved to new york and saw the star wars original trilogy, along with the indiana jones trilogy (thanks to my uncle who is also a massive fan of both film series), and my life has only improved ever since then. in film, that is. the rest of it sucks, mostly.
oh, and i was born in 91, so you have no excuse.
Crazy stupid love. 7/10
Finally a decent romantic comedy
Assassin's Creed: Embers
6/10
Although this short movie wasn't bad, it wasn't really that special either.
Instead of the whole chinese assassin plot and all the unneeded fight scenes, it should have had more character development and story, because the ending just felt like it could have been great if it just had had better build up.
Saw Dark City from 1998. Really good, probably an 8 out of 10. I had to google it afterwards because I couldn't help myself from noticing some similarities to The Matrix. Turns out that Matrix was released one year after Dark City and was filmed using the same sets in Fox Studios, tho Dark City had a much smaller budget which is noticeable.
Groundhog day
A solid 9/10
Very good pace. And even though it was the same day everyday, the movie was filled with variations and it kept me entertained throughout the whole movie.
[sp]I started wondering about the ending, if Phil actually was dreaming that "tomorrow" happened. Since Rita said "...you just fell asleep" during the ending scenes. And the abrupt ending kinda gives some space for some own interpretation on the ending, which I love in movies[/sp]

So totally putting "I got you babe" as my alarm tone for my phone now.

Dark City is a truly great movie. It's kind of like a darker, more other-worldly than Truman Show.
To be honest, I didn't care for 2001.
I can appreciate it for how it utilized the special effects at the time and it does have some pretty iconic scenes, but it seemed to drag on a bit too much for me.
Just my opinion though. It's not a bad movie by any stretch.
Nothing wrong with that, it's not for everyone.
evil dead 1 7.5/10
pretty amazing for what is is, still a decent film

Dark City was a pretty good watch, but it felt way too sci-fi towards the end. [sp]If only they didn't make the aliens so god damn silly, they were like a mix between fantasy and sci-fi[/sp]

Kind of nit-picking something that really didn't matter.
How come I've never seen the lead guy anywhere else? Seems like a good actor.
Sleepers 8.3/10
reminded me of Mystic River, loved it
The Shining.
My only problem is that I hadn't seen it sooner
10/10
Drive. 9.5/10
It's like GTA: Vice City, only serious, and it's a movie. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend doing so, coming across a fantastic newly released movie is sadly a rarity now-a-days.

Not really. A lot of new movies are pretty amazing.
American History X - 9/10
One of the more intense and moving movies I've seen. Norton's acting is incredible as well.
Batman Begins 9/10
I enjoyed it as much as The Dark Knight, although the latter has the better villain. I wasn't expecting much at first because nobody really talked about this, everyone was talking about the sequel.

It felt good to see it a year before TDK was released.
mr popper's penguins
the lowest possible 0 out of 10
i have now seen the film 4 times.
[editline]6th December 2011[/editline]
the airline played it, then they played a 'trailer' of it, that was half an hour long and consisted of a recap of the entire film. they played that 3 times.
im so sick of penguins
his wife gets pissed with popper when the Zoo got his penguins. That's just stupid. Why would grown ups even argue about nonsense like that.
Rush hour 9/10
WAR HEUGH YEAH
it has every possible cliche to pass the bare minimum of an unfunny 'general audience comedy'
i felt like the pengiuns didnt even have much to do with it. almost nothing happened in the film. he got some pengiuns sent over from his dad, then a plot about his connection with his dead dad with a restaurant was shoehorned in there, genital injury, jim carrey being a silly billy, an antagonist with pure and rational motives, a reuniting divorced couple (even though theres no reason given for them being divorced in the first place, they are really good friends and she goes out on dates with jim just because he asks at a whim), jim carrey trying to impress his kids, happy ending
it was one of the most bland, passable and inoffensively offensive things ive ever seen
indeed
When I saw the trailer, I already knew that it would suck. Sadly, my friend, who was with me, didn't think the same, and I had to watch that crap.
[editline]6th December 2011[/editline]
I'm never watching a movie with penguins again
Rusty are you in Norway now?
no im in china now lol look at the flag
no im in china now lol look at the flag
if you flew in by Air China then I feel sorry for you. They always have horrifically poor movies.
China southern. the one after it wasn't bad, i mean it wasnt very good, but better than mr popper's fuck fuck shit, it was 'the maiden heist', morgan freeman, christopher walken and william h macy more than made up for how 'eh' the plot was.
[editline]7th December 2011[/editline]
imdb is blocked here lol

if poppers shit fuck fuck is on again on the next flight i am jumping out of the plane. you can start writing my eulogy now

They also reused some requisites from Blade Runner and I think they guy who designed the city in the 90's Batman movies was also doing the backgrounds for this one. It really is one of my very favourite movies.
And I think the plot is heavily stolen or even an homage to Boris and Arcadi Strugatzki who wrote "Roadside Picknick"
They have a book called "The Experiment" that was realeased only after the Iron Curtain fell because it didn't pass censors before.
