Quills This is the story of the Marquis de Sade and his revoliting books. Its a battle of ego, will and free speech vs the church and state. The performances from Geoff Rush as De Sade, Winslet (yes she takes her clothes off) and Joaquin Phoenix are blistering. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180073/ I give this 8/10 The real story of the Marquis De Sade is facinating and his books are amazing. Getting hold of the full versions is like looking for the holy grail, banned in most places sadly. 120 days of Sodom is probably his finest work.
I watched Drive last friday. I'll give it a 10/10 because it was fantastic and I loved every moment of it.
months after seeing it I'm still having trouble getting over how good it was [editline]7th December 2011[/editline]
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) 6/10 It was good and all that, yeah. Nowhere near as good as the last three though >: I miss Will and Elizabeth and how everyone was screwing each other over while being on every side except each others'. That was great. And oh my god. The Christian and the mermaid. I don't think I've ever cared this little about any single movie character or subplot in my entire life. Also not enough boats or arrr for my liking.
movie had potential but I'm sick to death of quirky johnny depp characters they just seem so bland to me
also forced romance subplots it's a big part of why I didn't like Thor very much [editline]7th December 2011[/editline]
If it doesn't win Best Picture I'm never watching the Oscars again. Ever.
That would be nice, it was easily the best film I saw this year
Damn, I still need to watch Drive is it really that great?
yes
Haven't seen Drive. But IS it better than Bronson.
Haven't seen Drive. But IS it better than Bronson.
hmmm, now there's a question I prefer Hardy to Gosling in their respective main roles, but I think the story of Drive is more enjoyable. That's probably because Bronson is partially based on reality.
Bronson really is a crazy ride.
I think in general Nicolas Winding Refn is amazing
I haven't watched Metropols yet. Actually I haven't seen a single movie made that long ago. But since I'm hearing nothing but good about it, I'm gonna give it a watch ASAP.

Win Win (2011) 7.5/10
Haven't seen Drive. But IS it better than Bronson.
That's a tough question. On one hand you have Tom Hardy and his clear insanity, love of nudity, classical music, and hearing the word "cunt" a lot. Oh, and the mustache, too. On the other hand, you have Ryan Gosling convincing me he has down syndrome (not that it affects him in the movie in any way, that's just what i think of him when i see his face), Kavinsky, and shit that reminds me of GTA to easily make the best movie of the year. IDK, I might have to go with.... Valhalla Rising.
movie had potential but I'm sick to death of quirky johnny depp characters they just seem so bland to me
I only remember watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with him in it before and I watched all four Pirates of the Caribbean films in four days, so I haven't really got sick of it yet. Need new movies to watch though. Tried School of Rock earlier today but I think I just have something against Jack Black because that movie was painful to watch. Didn't make it very far through. Think I'll watch Pan's Labyrinth in a bit. But like, since I'm here, any great movies I should watch? I've only watched a thin spread of movies.
Pan's Labyrinth is amazing, hurry up and watch that
they have Bale. also Rescue Dawn is good.
Thanks for recommending Rescue Dawn I wouldnt have seen it soon if it werent for you. It was just what I was looking for!
Bronson really is a crazy ride.
Watch his earlier films, the Pusher trilogy. they're really fuckin good.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon 1/10 It's a pile of shit, not worth watching.
Final Destination 5 /10
same with all of the final destination movies
Transformers: Dark of the Moon 1/10 It's a pile of shit, not worth watching.
not even seen it but have an agree because i know it is terrible lol also today in my Media Studies class we watched a bunch of scenes from the 1998 remake of Psycho why/10 Actors didn't understand the characters they were meant to portray at all terrible terrible casting- Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates. Seriously what. He just seemed like a total creep as opposed to being sweet and charming in the original. he definitely doesn't look the part either, lol. And Viggo Mortensen as Sam? Casting the most talented actor in your entire film as a supporting role, who in the original was created to be a very boring 2 dimensional character, requiring little effort to actually play? Shower scene was also terribly done. It was pretty much a shot for shot remake, script and all, but the thing they changed most was the shower scene and it looked fucking terrible. The "tension" shots were also WAY too long, except from when Arbogast goes up the stairs because at that time it goes to the bird's eye view shot just as he reaches the top instead of a couple seconds later and there's no suspense at all terrible film lol never watch it. Glad he didn't make us watch the whole thing. There were also loads of problems with the set and lighting and shit too
same with all of the final destination movies
I loved 5. It's the best one by far.
Martyrs is a brain twister. In more ways than one.
Wow...I just saw the whole movie. Anything else you can recommend?
Final Destination 5 9.5/10
Final Destination 5 9.5/10
haha, really?
i liked the first one but the rest are terrible, haven't seen 5 tho. but i am totally open to liking it more than the first. it's possible to rejuvenate a tired series, it just doesn't happen often
