Memento
10/10
in-fucking-credible I cannot believe how good that movie is.
I can't praise the Lord of the Rings films and Goodfellas high enough.
I'd suggest watching "Return of the King" on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve. Just a special day, you know?
Trust me, it's one of the best movies you'll ever see if you liked the first one that much.
agreed goodfellas is a fantastic movie, no confusing timeline, not artsy metaphoric scenes just a really good story
Your Highness,
It was sooo fucking stupid! Some moments were just so stupid and fucked up they made me laugh.
6/10 because the effects were quite nice and it did make me laugh a bit.
First time I watched Angels & Demons I gave it a 7 or an 8.
Now I watched it after reading the book.
I'll give it 6/10
The flying fuck, they removed so much from the book.
Still watchable though
[sp]dat antimatter splosion[/sp]
if a movie is based on a book, I suggest watching it first, then reading the book
the book is always better, so if you read it first, you end up expecting too much from the movie.
in fact, I don't think there's a single good movie that's based on a book, except for the Harry Potter (yes I like it) and LOTR sagas
Insomnia
9/10

Not like the book was good in the first place.
Dan Brown is the Michael Bay of authors.

Not the best but they are easy to take in.
Dan Brown, not Bay.
I liked The Da Vinci Code.
The movies were lost oppurtunities poorly executed. Good music though.
Avatar (2nd time): 4/10
I still cannot believe how terrible the writing and 'acting' is in that movie.

Why did you watch it then
Boredom + Sky Anytime = viewing bad movies
[editline]16th December 2011[/editline]
Plus it looks nice in HD.
Avatar is one of those movies that sells you on its intense visuals, and for a lot of people they don't realize how shitty the actual movie was until later
Its definitely a move that I'm glad I've only seen once.
Seems great when I think back on it, but think I'd ruin it by watching it again.
it was a beautiful film visually but I could have pooped out a better script
I actually remember laughing out loud as one of the blue people shouted "I'm not your enemy, the enemy is out there!" Reminded me of Team America.
[editline]16th December 2011[/editline]
Come to think of it, a lot of the dialogue was like Team America.
I'm trying to remember some of the dialogue but it was so incredibly forgettable that I just can't be assed
though i do remember rolling my eyes at the mech boss fight
"i was hoping you'd say that" come ON

ok I'm gonna fix that
there isn't a single good *modern movie that's based on a book
oh, and Alice in Wonderland was a poem, not a book

Pretty much all the dialogue was horrible. I mean, everything's so cheesy. No smart dialogue at all, as if they thought "How can we make an 8 year old understand this?". Most of the actors did a pretty bad job of delivering lines too, like they just read straight off the script and tried to make it interesting, which sadly they failed at.

All in all, you didn't think that through and haven't watched enough movies.
The Pianist is based on a book?
brb buying

autobiography, innit.
Battle of Algiers 1966, 6/10
Not a bad film financed by the Algerians to document the rise of the FLN who started the revolution to kick the French out. Worth a watch, nothing to masturbate about.

Have you seen "The Apu Trilogy", I've been meaning to see it.
Have you seen "The Apu Trilogy", I've been meaning to see it.
Never heard of it but reading through it I see potential. See if you can get hold of the first one and tell me if it's any good. It's been namedropped by some great directors and rates very high on critic lists. I'm reluctant to take a chance on it being Indian as their films often feature moustached men with open shirts and big hair, dancing, singing and looking like Magnum PI.
Lately I'm a bit filmed out as I decided to have a month just hunting awesome films. I took a chance on Bertollucci's Novocento with Rob De Niro and Gerard Depardeu and got a real fucking shock when the 2 of them are laid out on a bed getting tossed off by a whore, and I mean you actually see this uncut, yes thats right, Gerard and De Niro's knob getting wanked off in this girls hand. Great watch despite Donald Sutherland who gives a shocking performance as bad as this one>
