This alien animation looks pretty bad though
This alien animation looks pretty bad though
It's actually good considering todays standards
I last saw Super 8. I'd give it an 8/10
The Mist
7/10
Now this isn't to say it's a bad experience because THIS is an experience. My only comment is that it's very inconsistent with it's "power" and capability to tell the story.
One minute it's really deep and then we have a really poor depiction of people's reactions towards each other.
The one greatness in this is the "Alien-esque" moment that blurt out and give you these nice thrills.
I wholeheartedly was moved towards the end though so I recommend it.
I didn't get any alien-esque vibes from it
it's not a bad movie, I liked the ending

The part where [sp]Spiders burst out of his body straight after he's stuck in a web-like thing[/sp].
I didn't think the "religious" aspect of the movie was very powerful, although it was okay.
I didn't really like it either
It's even better when [sp]She gets one right between the eys[/sp]
i think the movie was perfectly done and was a really accurate study/depiction of human behavior in dire situations
stephen king owns
not to mention one of my favourite endings of all time

The whole movie's concept wasn't about the monsters which is what it may seem on the surface. It was purely about human reactions.
If it was perfectly done on that side, was it perfectly done in accordance with it being a thriller movie?
I'm not too sure about how focused it stayed throughout.
Gonna hang to watch that again soon
Gonna go watch the Thing now

Probably not worth watching again, go see A Serious Man. :3:

I thought it was an accurate sociological experiment if you wish, albeit a fictional one. I feel like stephen king has a knack for realistic social interaction in his books, and while the movie may have not adapted it perfectly, you can still see it portrayed well enough. i really loved the whole commentary about religion, king is very obviously heavy anti religion, that shines through. and i could really resonate with that. what i feel the movie does successfully is brings life to the characters, and particularly makes you despise the religious zealot woman. everybody who i've talked to who saw this in the cinemas, said the audience cheered when she was [sp]shot in the head[/sp]. when was the last time and audience cheered for the death of anybody in a film? the animosity the movie makes us feel toward her is so strong and well done I can't help but love the movie purely on that merit. the rest of it I agree was so so, but it's strong points outweigh it's weaker points (tom janes acting, the monster side of it, etc). but as a movie about people's coexistence in bad situations, and a social commentary on religious impact, it really shines. every time i see it i cheer for her death, which says a lot about people in general in itself, doesn't it

I was kind of cheering myself when that happened.
That section of the movie was quite a thrill, how forceful they actually used to perform those acts. I can definitely see the reality in that because that's what humans are capable of.
I probably need to read a book to understand where King was really coming from.
Pretty sure it's been said that it will involve [sp]the little black girl whose mom got killed by the bride in the first one, in a kind of reverse revenge[/sp]
He really should just leave it and do another original project.
Oxford Murders - 7

But it's one of the best sci-fi/horror movies ever
But it's one of the best sci-fi/horror movies ever
You sure it wasn't just about how people react to bad situations rather than the actual mist itself. :smugdog:
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
Dark City is a better sci fi/horror.
Aliens versus Predator
Yeah it was pretty good. 7.5/10

I am referring to The Thing
I am referring to The Thing
Then why did you think I said "It's not worth seeing again" in terms of The Thing?
:raise:
I was asking myself the same question

Sounds like you'd love his latest novel "Under the Dome".
13 Assassins
easily one of the best recent samurai films, if not the best. 10/10
Pirates of the Caribbean 4
I'd give it a solid 8/10. Pretty good movie.
The Girl Who Played With Fire- 8/10
It was really good but I did prefer The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

It was a decent movie, although I enjoyed the previous 3 more.
This movie was mostly Johnny Depp being awesome and some semi-interesting shit going down.
[sp]although I really liked the mermaid bay part[/sp]
no his 'random' comment, i can't see how that movie was 'random' at all
[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
and then hating it because of something it's not
I'm not talking about the "sociological" part of the movie, or whatever you think the movie was about. I thought the movie was random in terms of physics and their reactions towards most of the stuff that happened right in their face.

care to elaborate? (ps all my sociological comments were directed towards The Mist, not Super 8)
He really should just leave it and do another original project.
He is doing an original project alongside it, either one or two westerns (I'm not totally sure because movie sites keep throwing around rumors)
Burke and Hare - 7/10
I can only say I enjoyed it, but it wasn't a magnificent piece. Good humor though!
