Rise of the Planet of the Apes was good.
Those damn dirty apes get an 8 of 10.
I thought you meant that Americans are too lazy to read.
that too
that too
that was the reply i had in my head you mind thief
anyway i watched Session 9 (2001) earlier today it was pretty decent, 7/10
Bunch of aspestos removal people in an abandoned insane asylum, some tensions start to build and theres a pretty cool twist at the end but I felt the way they executed it made it slightly far-fetched.
its also not what you'd expect (one of them goes insane and starts to brutally murder them all etc) despite it still being a kinda of psychological horror type film. I really liked the fact that there wasn't any real gore in it or whatever actually.
It's also got that guy from CSI in it, but sadly he doesn't wear shades.
Pontypool 9/10.
A bit confusing but fucking awesome.
I use subtitles only for educational purposes.
believe it or not, it really helps with your grammar.
One of my favourite movies is subtitled. It doesn't bother me.

I can't read a book if the world depended on it but i don't mind reading subs.
Watched Inception last night from 0:00 to 1:30 AM.
Awesome film. I had a small mindfuck with it though.
Can i ask you guys, where is the part that plays Mind Heist by Zack Hemsey?
it's not in the movie, it was written for the trailer
Watched Fight Club a few days ago. Probably a 9/10, only because I wasn't literally screaming with how good it was. Nothing in the world deserves a 10 for anything.
Just watched Redline (2009): 7/10
It was visually stunning. But despite tits, the story was seriously lacking. I mean, maybe I'm not fit to be making a review of a movie right now, but I'm pretty sure one section of the movie went like this.
[the movie is about people racing in space, [sp]with the final round of the tournament being held on a planet where racing is illegal, and also the planet has a lot of army shit]
Main guy is losing the race. Suddenly he catches up? And then another racer crashes through the earth and wakes up an ancient sleeping world destroying monster that the government created for wars or something. The government ends up using all their fire power trying to beat this monster (so it doesn't destroy the planet), with the blast to destroy it, they fuck up the race. One of the government people simply becomes a whale monster and fights the other monster. Main racer and main FEMALE racer get in a car and win the race, the end. Turns out they're in love. Baw.[/sp]
If it wasn't for that part it would probably be an 8.
I watched x men first class and for some reason none of the foreign bits had subtitles. I have no idea who most of the people Magneto met were. Subtitles can be useful.
Those should have been hard-coded
Network.
True greatness/10
Superb acting, and insanely funny. Can't remember what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't this. :v:
Citizen Kane
99.99999989/100
First movie of the year. Good choice I must say.

Having seen 12 Angry Men for the first time recently, I'm gonna reckon Sidney Lumet's catalogue of movies is worth delving into.
l'M AS MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE
Saw This is Spinal Tap right before the new year started
Didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I'm pretty sure I understood most of the jokes but I just didn't find them that funny.

I heard its one of those movies that aren't especially good on the first watch, but are better when watched a second time.
Anyone seen "Cronos"?
will watch either Ides of March/Badlands/Aguirre tonight. Let's see how I feel.
Anyone here watched the french movie Special Forces?
Its pretty good, but then I hated how[sp]they killed off some of the members[/sp]
I give it a 7/10
And there are no white flags so its not accurate
[editline]2nd January 2012[/editline]
And it felt like a big french special forces commercial
Cashback 7.5/10
I liked the idea and it was pretty funny too, but more importantly it looked and felt good.

Yeah. Guillermo's older films are certainly well made, but their stories just don't really capture me and they often feel quite uneventful and their climaxes are disappointing.
Expendables 7/10
Total shit but total entertainment. A great hangover film after the New Year party. Mindless action film with over the top violence, perfect for those days you don't want to think.
I finally finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy, I cried manly tears at the end. 10/10 take my winners Peter Jackson, take all of them.
Watched Transformers on TV
1/10
liked the fight scenes, though
What languages are American movies translated to? I grew up watching them in German, but started watching them in English once my English was good enough.
What languages are American movies translated to? I grew up watching them in German, but started watching them in English once my English was good enough.
what do you mean
I think they translate them to pretty much every language
Subtitle-wise the standards are usually like French, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese I think
Some of my favourite movies I watched in 2011 were Donnie Darko, Pan's Labyrinth, and Fight Club. Dark psychological/fantasy stuff. Can anybody recommend me more movies like these? Since there's no thread for movie recommendations ):
