I saw War Of The Worlds once, I thought it was Ok.
Then I became a fan of the Jeff Wayne musical and tried to watch again.
I couldn't. Compared to the musical it was absolutely HORRIBLE.

I never really got into aliens that much, but nonetheless it was a great movie. AvP, I loved and I want to watch it again.

Not to ruin your conversation.. But I watched The Shawshank Redemption for the fifth time... and 10/10. I love that movie and everything about it.
Green Lantern 6/10
Movie is entertaining to watch. Acting is decent. Significant artistic license is taken with characters, like Parallax's appearance and its origins as well as Abin Sur's death and a whole host of other things.
While people have complained about the CGI being overly used, the frame rate used to play the movie makes it less obvious as compared to the movie stills.
Segments of surprise were used well in the start to grab the audience's attention early on but then the movie begins to dull further on. Parallax's manifestation was disappointing as was the fact that[sp]They just killed off two of the Green Lantern Corps greatest enemies but they did foreshadow the plot of a possible sequel, namely Sinestro's fall from grace[/sp]
However it has failed to live up to expectations and in general comic book lore in numerous accounts. Unlike a film like Batman Begins which expanded on the general ideas put forward by Batman: Year One and similar stories, Green Lantern takes the stories put forth and twists them rather than expands upon them. It is understandable that a movie would choose to update the story to be more relevant, to appeal to the tastes of audience, like Iron Man, but having[sp]Hal Jordan fight and defeat Parallax[/sp]as his first enemy is pretty ridiculous.

Saw Pirates 4 last night. I don't get why there is so much hatred for this movie; it felt like just another Pirates movie, and was by far better than Pirates 2 and 3.
I'd give it a 7 out of 10.
