Actually it's about the only big war movie that transcends the genre, really. It's hallucinogenic imagery is incredible, and in the end it's really not about the war at all.
Super 8, 9/10.

The acting was ok, the effects were amazing (nazis,robots,chaingun samurais and dragons fuck yeah!)
And the story, well it wasn't the best I've seen, but it sure was different, so kudos for that. And I really liked the ending.
Soundtrack could've been better.
And the girls were pretty

considering the story was the worst i've seen, the acting was atrocious, the soundtrack was the only redeeming film quality, and the girls weren't pretty, i have no idea what's wrong with you

and u really liked the ending? you mean the ending where the main character decided that she wasn't the main character of the story and palmed it off onto the least likeable girl in the movie before unnecessarily martyring herself to save her? and then she gets lobotomized and the other girl gets on the bus and for some reason the guy who was in the lobotomized girl's daydreams is driving the bus and seems to know her even though he never really existed and that girl has never even seen him because she was never actually a part of the other girls daydreams?

Because they spent most of the film budget on special effects to make them look more like plastic and fake "beauties".
