Sunshine kicked ass up until it turned into 28 Days Later.
Yeah I have to admit that the first half was really a lot better
I'm a sci-fi nerd, I mean I love movies like Event Horizon (going to add that to the top 250 movies thread rhight now actually) and movies like Sunshine are right up my alley
Also the acting was awesome, and GODDAMN HOW FUCKING CREEPY WAS THE [sp]Icarus I's[/sp] distress beacon?
That sound scared me, I want it as my alarm tone

Found it on youtube, very slight, but practically nothing spoiler if you listen to it.
Sunshine was awesome wtf man
also how can the story be good if the plot was bad? They're practically the same thing
sunshine was good up until the ending

i liked the whole slasher in space thing
but not
the ending
What was wrong with the ending bro?
I thought it was pretty epic, and it had a sweet touch to it that made me feel happy.

the whole [sp]the killer is some burnt up supernatural dude from the icarus1. it was fucking stupid and made no sense[/sp]
Horton Hears a Who 9/10
- No shit, it may seem like a kids movie, but it's a great watch, and awesomely funny.
Best parts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6QliaetKk
Hm, I guess you're right I missed out on that bit
[sp]If he'd managed to survive for like, six or seven years or something in an ash spaceship with no heat, or food and then be able to go fuck everyone's shit up on the Icarus II that was a bit unlikely[/sp]
I still liked the ending though, that was really the only flaw with the movie.
Theatrical license I guess
Watched Fast Five yesterday night. It was fun watching it, it's nothing special but you sure the hell enjoy it...
I'll give it a 6/10
King's Speech: 9/10 i guess
The Tourist 6/10

here's another reminder that the plot has pro christian anti atheist undertones

Any why the hell does that matter?
Limitless: 6/10
Interesting concept and nice plot. The whole movie seemed a little random though, as if there were no real reason for making it.

Other than money and entertainment?
on stranger tides: 7/10
was ok, although none have surpassed the first.
Any why the hell does that matter?
so a movie's messages (underlying intent) don't matter?
um
you read into shit too much
you read into shit too much
not really, let me paraphrase what i said last time
horton find's an entire life system on a dandelion, they praise him as some sort of overlord and protector
horton tells a woman (athiest) and she is reluctant to believe him, saying it's impossible. in the end of the film, the woman rallies the whole town against horton, but eventually the woman (evil athiest) concedes and admits there is life on the dandelion. horton or the woman says something like 'just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there'
there's a lot more to it than even i can just remember. there has to be plenty of material on it online, go search for it.

Most normal people wouldn't really care that much and would just enjoy the movie for what it is
you're giving this too much thought
Then again most normal adults would't be watching Horton Hears a Who
Other than money and entertainment?
Yeah, other than that.
The Way Back 7/10
It had potential to be even greater and could've easily been 30 minutes longer if done properly.

You know, that's exactly what I thought, until I actually watched it.

I thought you'd mention that, but I see it in a different way.
Horton holds an entire world in his hand, yes. But instead of interpreting it as a Christian message, I thought of it as begging the question "What lies outside our known universe"? The Whos live on the little speck that floats through the air. We could compare the speck to our Earth, as it also floats around. There are different angles to every opinion, and the one the movie is based upon probably is Christian, but you just have to ignore it.
Fast Five 8/10
The Crow: 8/10
Citizen Kane: 10/10
the Departed 9.5/10
"My theory on Feds is that they're like mushrooms, feed 'em shit and keep 'em in the dark."

no see, that's what you're supposed to get - they are using that as a basis for their christian metaphors.
here's another reminder that the plot has pro christian anti atheist undertones
I remember thinking that throughout the movie, the characters who are skeptical of the whole scenario (the mayor of Whoville and the kangaroo) seem to be caricatures of atheists and skeptics, especially with the whole "if you can't see it, it's not real" thing. I also remember the town residents being completely unobservant of the obvious signs that something was wrong (silly atheists). Meanwhile Horton is God and Steve Carrell is prophet X, both of whom are reasonable and propose something that requires faith from the masses, which gets Horton [del]crucified[/del] put in a cage by the [del]romans[/del] forest animals.
I'm not certain it was intentional, though. It just seems like the most obvious way to expand upon the book.
La Vita È Bella
A tad unrealistic and cheap looking but you've got a holocaust movie that's watchable by absolutely anyone. I liked how in the parts before the concentration camp, altough kind of boring, are mostly symbolic and needed to understand the rest of the movie, making the movie deeper than you might expect at first hand. Most of the jokes didn´t hit the nail ( some did ) and altough it had a humoursitic tone it stayed pretty sad troughout.
8/10
Fast Five 8/10
the best of the series to be honest, has this excellent action thing going on while still maintaining the bitches and the cars we all know and love
no see, that's what you're supposed to get - they are using that as a basis for their christian metaphors.
I see your point.
Just gonna ignore the christianity stuff and carry on though.
