Hated Cedar Rapids. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
your posting in this thread is like watching a horrible trainwreck
It's like you're posting into a mirror, lol.

Scream 4 - 7 / 10

I didn't expect a score that high for that. Is it worth a watch?
The Godfather 9/10 I'm really glad I finally got around to seeing this one.
Then let him ban me? Its a legit experiment. Just a heads up - I've never seen Rusty ban anybody who talks shit to him, not once yet. No matter how much shit talk flies at him he just flings shit right back. (Obviously green highlights denote moderation powers, obviously Rusty has the ability, but this is a question of his use)
uh whats wrong with you ofc i can ban, just rarely people who attack me because that looks like a personal ban so another mod will just do it if you flame gj [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
WOAH, THATS ORIGINAL. lol fag. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Rusty100)) (User was banned for this post ("You know what, threadshitting" - Rusty100))
Does this answer your question [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] related i saw Cowboys and Aliens. I liked it, it started to get a little shitty toward the end but it was actaully a pretty solid western that wasn't too stupid. 7/10
I didn't expect a score that high for that. Is it worth a watch?
It was pretty decent, but it's mainly because it brought me back in time.
Pulp fiction 10/10 toy story 3 9/10 inception 9/10 For me while watching inception I found it really odd how well the girl understood everything
Sucker Punch - 5/10 Wow, girls with guns...how very original. (I didn't know when girls dance they imagine they're in some fucked battlefield with weapons that have heavy recoil that obviously they can't handle.)
Also I need help picking which movie I should watch tonight. four lions the fifth element No country for old men the shawshank Redemption
all of those movies are excellent so it doesn't matter [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] if you wanna watch a hilarious comedy, four lions if you wanna watch an action comedy, fifth element if you wanna watch an action drama, no country if you wanna watch a classic drama, shawshanky
all of those movies are excellent so it doesn't matter
well there goes sleeping. I guess i'll go with the shawshank redemption since it has morgan freeman and was written by stephen king
The Big Lebowski 9/10. Finally seen it and it is hilarious and awesome.
Bad Boys II - 8/10
Bad Boys II - 8/10
Omg that movie was such a clusterfuck of bad writing, direction and mindless action for the sake of action that I can't remember what the hell happened. It was so bad, my mind actually repressed the memory of seeing it.

Gummo - 8/10
Bad Boys II - 8/10
Good grief. As if liking Requiem for a Dream and Sucker Punch wasn't bad enough.
Gummo - 8/10 Good grief. As if liking Requiem for a Dream and Sucker Punch wasn't bad enough.
what are you talking about? Requiem for a dream was fantastic
Gummo - 8/10 Good grief. As if liking Requiem for a Dream and Sucker Punch wasn't bad enough.
uh what? why are you grouping requiem for a dream with suckerpunch? requiem is a darren aronofsky film and is excellent (with an excellent score by clint mansell)
Bad Boys II was a fun movie.
what are you talking about? Requiem for a dream was fantastic
Nope. It was terrible. Too much of a reliance on visual gimmickry, poor casting(Connelly has, and will always have, the personality of a plank), the performances are either cartoonishly overwrought or completely and utterly forgettable, and the basic story(a drug-fueled downward spiral) has been told before, told better, and told without the obnoxious preachiness. There's also the what I like to call the Robocop effect, where a scene in a film which is supposed to be shocking and disturbing is done in such an over-the-top way that it becomes hilarious instead(only Robocop was self-aware, there's not a moment of self-awareness in this piece of shit), trivializing the point it's supposed to make and turning the characters into unbelievable caricatures. If the final collage of the protagonists' fate was less over-the-top, Requiem would merely be a mediocre film, a forgettable morality tale. As such, it's a parody of itself, it's an hour and a half-long version of "This is your brain on drugs", somehow even more ridiculous. Go watch Trainspotting. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
uh what? why are you grouping requiem for a dream with suckerpunch?
They're both terrible movies.

Go watch Trainspotting. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline] They're both terrible movies.
Trainspotting is also a very good movie but you're entirely wrong about Requiem. It doesn't rely on visual gimmicks much like a Terry Gilliam film. It's visuals are strong yet aren't relied upon. Jennifer Connelly is a capable actor. I'd never claim she was great, but there is nothing wrong with her performance in this film. What you stated about the performances is just totally wrong. Almost everyone in the film (especially the main character's mother) deliver great performances. They're intended to be a little bit over the top and caricatured, but it works well for the film. And not once were they 'unbelievable'. In fact, while the idea of a drugged up downward spiral wasn't a new one, this one is told well. Yes it's been told better, but this is among those that tell it the best. And as for obnoxious preachiness, I do not see any. Anywhere. Your entire post feels like it was copy and pasted from somewhere else. It screams of trying way to hard to analyse films rather than enjoying what they do well. This film does a hell of a lot well and it's a great film. I don't need to write out a psuedo-indepth analysis, you're just flat out wrong. The movie is great.
liking Requiem for a Dream wasn't bad enough.
are you clinically retarded? [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
the personality of a plank
great way to describe yourself.
It's visuals are strong yet aren't relied upon.
Aren't relied upon? The visuals are used as a borderline plot device almost constantly, especially in Ellen Burstyn's segments, up to the point where all the "kooooky" camera angles and the hallucinatory imagery start to seriously get on one's nervs. I don't have a problem with a camera trick here or there, but the constant visual bombardment on display in Requiem seemed to masquerade the core mediocrity of the film.
Jennifer Connelly is a capable actor. I'd never claim she was great, but there is nothing wrong with her performance in this film.
The personality of a plank.
As I said, the characters were either instantly forgettable and so lacking in personality that it was hard to sympathize with them(Connelly, for example) or over the top to the point of being annoying(Burstyn, for example), there is no middle ground. By making the characters as such, whilst still attempting to deal with a serious subject in a serious manner the film basically trivializes itself. Over the top performances may work for Fear and Loathing(and they do), but they don't work for this.
And as for obnoxious preachiness, I do not see any. Sure, it didn't feature Pee-Wee Herman screaming "DRUGS ARE BAD, 'MKAY" at you, but it may as well have.
YThe movie is great.
The movie is pretty awful, sorry. [editline]24th August 2011[/editline]
great way to describe yourself.
Oooh, harsh.
The final montage was an amazingly powerful way to end the movie, I don't know how you can hate Requiem for a dream
the core mediocrity of the film.
Don't talk about movies.
