Crazy Heart 8.5/10 Same concept as the Wrestler, different theme. Jeff Bridges acting great, but singing was even better.
Ink - Pretty good indy thinking film. Nightmares vs dreams. 7/10 The Descent - Alright semi-horror film. 6/10.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - 8/10, didn't really expect too much but I actually quite enjoyed it. Great acting and all that jazz, awesome film. I'll definitely be watching the sequels if they end up making them. LOTR : The Fellowship of the Ring - 10/10, need I say more? Bloody marvelous.

Four Lions, 7/10 - didn't find it that funny, but the part at the end really made me feel a bit odd inside. "tell them that I was smiling" *boom* :saddowns:

[sp]"tell them that I was smiling" *boom* :saddowns:[/sp]
Spoilers, please. The Inbetweeners Film; 10/10. Laughed so hard. Kind of awkward watching with my dad, and my teenage sister who's going to the same location on holiday in a few weeks.
The Bank Job 8.5/10 For some reason I had thought it's some run-of-the-mill modern heist movie, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Thor 8/10 It was actually good. I liked how they kept away from the romance and focused on the storyline. Special effects and fight scenes were awesome as well.
The Double Life of Véronique is also one that you should watch. One of the most beautiful movies I've seen.
Just finished watching Bleu and Blanc... they're stunning movies.
i really like darren aronofsky but I did not like the wrestler, at all. i just didn't resonate with the character, it has some pretty backwards messages. and then in the end [sp]he basically killed himself out of a selfish sense of pride and self worth. wtf dude[/sp] did not like that one, i do however like most of his other films a lot.
[sp]it wasn't about pride or self worth, it was about doing what he was all about and dying for the one thing he had in his life or something like that, the ring was the only place he belonged and the fact that he died in the ring doing his signature finisher on his first big opponent is just so.. guuuuh[/sp] the speech in the end kind of sealed it, the only people he was mutual with were his fans. i was never really big into wrestling as a kid, i watched it sometimes but i was more into it for the whole glamor and showmanship part about it because i knew it was all staged. but something from way far back triggered in me as he stood up on the ring pole for the final ram jam with his body cocked just before he jumped. Pi i get, it's abstract understanding though. maybe it's just because i've had psychotic and obsessive episodes and experiences before. also the soundtrack is simply amazing. the one thing arnofsky does really well (and i think the only thing he really does) is the descent into madness or obsession or both kind of thing. i'm a fucking broken record but i've been there before, multiple times, so i really respect him for how he can portray it so well that i can relate based on my legit experiences. i respect him even more if he hasn't even had any sort of massive breakdown or hit rock bottom before. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] i'm watching passion of the christ right now, probably have a rating soon but it's most likely gonna be low... so god damn boring lol
Pi i get, it's abstract understanding though. maybe it's just because i've had psychotic and obsessive episodes and experiences before. also the soundtrack is simply amazing.
I liked Pi a lot tbh... more so than Requiem actually.
I liked Pi a lot tbh... more so than Requiem actually.
i like all of his films equally (yes even the fountain) Pi for me was basically like eraserhead but with an actual coherent plot. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] who the fuck is this hoody dude with no eyebrows?
Just finished watching Bleu and Blanc... they're stunning movies.
Red's my favourite outta them. The ending couldn't be more of a fitting way to end the series.
Red is probably on my list of my favourite films of all time. Also, La Double Vie De Véronique is a favourite of mine too, Kieślowski had a really great talent with directing music into his films.
passion of the christ 4/10
you like Crank
Whaaaat? -1000 credibility
oh yeah, just rewatched a scanner darkly 9/10.. maybe 8. you really need to have read the book to understand lots of what's going on. for instance, when [sp]freck decides to kill himself[/sp] it takes a big assumption to realize when the narrator says "he was burned" or something along those lines that whoever he bought the "downers" from knew he was going to use them to kill himself and instead gave him a bottle of very powerful psychedelic drugs. so instead of [sp]commiting suicide[/sp] he trips balls so hard it fries what's left of his mind. which is why you [sp] see him at the newpath group with bob near the end of the movie, bald[/sp], he says something along the lines of "the dead should serve the purposes of the living". being bald i realized that was freck on another rewatch of the movie, at first i though he was just another burnout. also during the road trip to san fran when the gas pedal breaks loose you have no idea what they're talking about when they say "if i knew it was harmless i would have killed it myself". in the book it fleshes that out with a flashback to when some girl with big tits asks them to kill a mosquito hawk for her. they notice it's a mosquito hawk and tell her it's just harmless and she replies if i had known it was harmless i would have killed it myself. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline]
(especially the main character's mother)
she's got real talent, in requiem she's an ignorant burnt out mother (and quite believably so much so that you'd think she's not much of a good actor otherwise) but then watch the fountain and she portrays the role of an administrator so well. Ellen Burstyn is an exceptional actress.
these people who try to say that crank 2 is a good movie are fucking ridiculous. The movie was ironic? It was a satire? of which movie was it a satire, exactly? Crank 1? or maybe some other dumbass movie in which Jason Statham was the star? one of the three awful transporter movies maybe? or In the Name of the King? or death race or almost anything else the talentless meathead retard actor has ever been in. Even if crank 2 is actually supposed to be a "satire" of a bad movie, it's still a bad movie, with bad actors, bad direction, and bad writing. It's just all-around bad and the only people who like it are people who like worthless, fuckass movies with no value beyond LET'S DRIVE THIS CAR REAL FAST AND SHOTO AT PEOPLE AND FIGHT SCENE SEX END OF MOVIE. If anyone here actually "appreciates" crank 2, let me know so I can take down a mental note that your opinion is stupid and you have bad taste - so that I won't waste time listening to your shit movie advice if I happen to read it in the future. [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] Just expressing my opinion, bro.
don't you dare ever say transporter 1 is a bad movie [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] one word snatch jason statham has got talent, i personally love him. and i liked crank 2, maybe it was because when i first saw it i was in rehab and besides already being on amphetamines i was also on some kind of opiate, pretty much the only high person there, and much higher than i usually was.
Ip Man 9/10 An amazing martial arts flick.
i am legend 9/10 why didn't he just get inside the coal chute with them, toss the grenade when the glass broke and shut the door? well i guess it makes it more dramatic but these little things in movies always niggle around in my head for a while after they happen.

I didn't care for it myself.
that's not at all what i said. he said the creatures are beyond human cognativit-whatever. what i said was he gets in the coal chute with them, with the door ajar and tosses the nade when the glass breaks and shuts the chute door. this ending is alright though because that was the one zombie that went after him when he captured the girl zombie. [editline]27th August 2011[/editline] the second comment pretty much sums up why i don't like it either
Nope. The leader of the Argh!* brigade and his Argh!-arian disciples became far too moderate far too quickly in this ending. It didn't gel with the movie at all.
Just saw Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark. lol/10
Red is probably on my list of my favourite films of all time.
Yeah, just finished watching Rouge. It's a great end to the trilogy. Very easy to watch and probably the most meaningful relationship out of the three. I personally preferred Bleu though. :>
