Nearly everyone I know, including myself, use condoms. They're knowledgeable and are aware of the consequences of not using protection. My girlfriend is on birth control and I still use one just to be safe.
If you properly use a condom, it's nearly 100% effective. The only reason they don't work is because of misuse. Not enough lube, loose fit, not pinching the tip, etc. It goes on and on.
