What did you work on today? (DIY pros ITT) - General

That's what I'm saying though, I prefer the 8 point inset lugs since they are a locking lug with a special key but also stay looking good. They are what I have run on every set of nice wheels I've had (besides lately on my Slips)

Lemme go take a picture of my lugs, they've got some weird ass setup, I'd assume because of the difficulty to duplicate them unless you have the key? brb. Internal is the way to go, they don't look all lumpy and weird. I think I have a pic somewhere of my old lock lugs... I'm not fond of locking lugs at all. The keys aren't hard for thieves to obtain. 'Sides, Justin's wheel there is designed to be used with a full cap that would hide the lugnuts entirely, doesn't matter what they look like. As for what I've been up to, ready your Gojo and feast your eyes on this. I'm guessing the previous owners never heard of synthetic oil... Also found the old oil filter and the drain plug were loose, those were fixed when we did an oil change after the gasket change. Didn't get anywhere on the brakes though, some asshat stole our floor jack.

Last i checked they don't even make the tires anymore...And i don't feel inclined enough to dismount the tire to see if it's stamped anywhere inside, i kinda doubt it though.

The only oil seals that still hold are the front and rear main. That's why I was putting a valve cover gasket in it in the first place. Amazingly, filthy as it is, that thing runs as smooth as anything Europe or Japan can come up with. I tested it with a seismometer app on my phone, line was smoother when the engine held it than it is when I hold it :v: Oh, and as a point of comparison, here's what the valves of my '85 looked like after a head gasket failure at 265,000 miles. Replaced my TPS last night and got the car tuned to run nice n' smooth after previously having it tuned to run with a shit TPS, now not only does the car idle and run much better in general but when i get up where the secondaries kick in and get off the throttle all together, popopopopopopop crackle crackle popopopopopop sounds like a fucking race car with this header, my friend in the passenger seat was laughing at me because i would continually do it just to hear it, and break out in a smile ear to ear every time. So awesome.

The crackling and popping on decel is sign of the TPS being incorrectly calibrated, actually. I've run into that before. Not that I personally mind it, it sounds hilarious and/or awesome.

That very well could be what it is, as well. But even so it runs better than it did previously, and like you said sounds awesome so i think, at least for now, I'm gonna keep it like this. It does, however, have a really nasty jolt when you go from no throttle to open throttle. (Not necessarily wide open, more like you barely touch the accelerator and it throws you back into the seat)

Yeah, definitely out of spec then. But it should be 100000 times better than before, I know mine was when I changed it.

Yesterday while I was at work, my brother went half way across the state to tear apart another MR2. We managed to get the whole engine, raised engine hatch (for turbos), and leather door panels to replace the fabric ones I have now. All a good deal for 443$.

I think my injector seals are leaking since I smell gas when the car is running and it's getting bad mileage. The injectors are held on by 2 phillips head bolts and two of them are stuck, when I try to get them off with a screwdriver the pattern on the top is stripping. What would be the best way to remove them without an impact wrench?

the injectors are supposed to be bolted in place by the fuel rail?

Engine teardown day, we are on our 4th trip to the auto store to get [i]another[/i] socket. Once we do get it though, and have the manifold and head off, we will see if the investment was worth it. All we need is the block itself dammit!

I got the Lebaron to turn over and I got the dash buzzing with the help of google for hotwiring. Drained my battery in no time at all so I had to go inside fast, maybe tomorrow I can get it going. I couldn't go to car bashers today because I left my keys in my truck which was in the garage and only me and my dad have keys to he garage so I couldnt get in till he got back. Pulled off the dented bumper and attempted to but the new one on. Bumper brackets are all bent to hell. Managed to get two bolts in and my license plate is held on by zip ties I hate vehicles

I feel like it would of been done with if they dropped the trailer on it right side up, since i doubt it would of bent around it. and i agree with you testecull i doubt any post 90's toyota truck could do that lol.
