Or if you rebuild the engine wrong/sloppily. The downfall of the engine that came with the chassis was due to a very incorrectly installed boost gauge, dude left an open vacuum to the outside air of the engine, which basically broke the cruise control and could have destroyed the turbo. then the next two blocks both failed due to bad thrust bearings. So once I do get a good block, I am going to do everything I can to make it break proof.

I'm BANNEDUSERS brother. I agree these are some well built engines. Both of the new blocks failed because the PO installed thrust bearings incorrectly. They hold the entire pressure of the clutch when its engaged so when they fail the crank comes into contact w/ the block and acts like a machine lathe on the main caps and block. Sad to see this happen to so many engines. We now have three useless 3S blocks in out garage. I have a lead on a good condition one though. Hopefully checking it out soon.
Moral of the story: If you are going to build a block, don't overlook the little details. One of these blocks seemed to have been rebuilt within 1000 miles. It has absolutely no burn on the pistons and you could still see the fresh hone marks on the cylinder walls. Everything was done right except the thrust bearings. Easy to overlook and get wrong.

replacing this tire
7,000 miles with tcs off :)
ENGINE AND TRANS IS IN AWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHH
took only 15 minutes with my dad too, we were super efficient with this new hoist!!
then it began to snow and it was like 2Celcius outside so I bolted the tranny's crossmember, motor mount, motor damper, driveshaft, a few chassis bar, connected a few connectors and reinstalled the hood.
then took a beer with the old folk and called it a day.
oh yeah and: NEW WHEELS ARE ON THE CAR, will try to take some pictures for you guys since now all I'm waiting is decent weather and a nice outside temps to reinstall all the coolant hoses, oil cooler hoses, intercooler piping, vacuum piping, fluids, yadda yadda and run that bitch :D
post a picture of your car, i don't remember what i looks like.
i love it when you have the tools to do shit instead of improvising and taking ages

this is with the old wheels
been trying to get that old damn motorcycle running perfect.
i took the the bowls of the carbs and cleaned them. took out the both jets in both carbs and cleaned them. but it still has lack of power under 4k rpm but after that it pulls strong till 10k rpm redline.
also new oem plugs got new wire boots on the way.
what is weird i can pull the left plug off at idle and nothng changes. plug it back in and pull the right off it dies. wtf.
Fuck. Sitting in a school parking lot, in 35°F weather, in the rain, replacing a tire. To make matters worse, some asshole at Pontiac decided it was a great idea to put the security lug nuts that require a special attachment, which doesn't even fit on the lug nut very well. Didn't help that the tire probably hasn't been taken off in well over ten years.

GM doesn't put locking lug nuts on their cars... Especially not 10+ years ago.

Ever since I saw you post the picture of your 'Vette I was waiting for this, hahah. One of my Z buddies picked up a C4 and raged for months.
Well, it's not really the whole "being a C4" part, it's the "people who put this motor in fucked up a lot of things I'm now fixing" part that I'm raging about.
Everything has been relatively simple and easy, it's just the little stuff I have to go back and fix that pisses me off.
The ground cables were arranged wrongly yesterday and I just found this out. They didn't put the bellhousing ground back on, and the main actual ground was taped to another ground wire which was running to the battery. So I had to redo that stuff and re-run the ground and hook it up, since the entire car was grounding on some little 14-16 gauge wire and it was about to boil apart due to the crazy high voltage it was running through it.
But now it fires up and I can drive it around, just have to install the wiper motor and get the hood back on.

And that is why I don't like or want security nuts on my wheels. lol.

Means the left jug isn't firing at idle. Figure out why and the power should come back. It's probably just a fouled plug if I was to guess, if that's the case the new plugs should get it going again.
...I... What?
Pontiac, when it was around, put security lug nuts on their wheels for Grand Prixs. I switched it to Pontiac instead of GM in case you had something different in mind.
Weird, I had to look that up. I guess Pontiac did it but I can't find an instance of any other GM brand doing so. Huh. There were dealers that offered them apparently on many GM cars...
Yeah, I wasn't sure if they put them on other GM cars either, I just knew Pontiac had done it. Regardless, security lug nuts are a pain in the ass.
So Kenny, the mechanic friend of the roomie and I, looked over the Wagovan today.
Unibody damage at the impact is too severe to even try and fix. The car is doomed for parts or scrap...
:(

Send it to me fgt
What is fgt? And we can't, the insurance company wants it and there is no sense in buying it back when no one is going to pay more then 2Gs for it. Sorry dude, would if I could.
May not be my car, but I've kinda grown attached to it. It's not easy hearing "your car/friends car is a future toaster oven." from a guy whose been fixing cars for like, 30+ years
fgt = faggot
except fgt is usually used in a playful brosef kind of way
It sure sounds more like he's been fixing cars for 30 minutes.
I want it. I can fix it. I will guarantee that.
It depends where he's at, but it could be illegal to sell a car that has frame damage. Even if it has been repaired, since it will never go back to complete strength.

That's not illegal anywhere. In some states there are lemon laws that require you to present a salvage title if the car has been wrecked, but it is not illegal to sell damaged cars.
With the person knowing it isn't.
But I may have had too many bad experiences with car dealers or something.

Well if you can get to Pasco Florida, I'm sure Zach (owner) woulden't mind selling it to ya.
And I literally just informed him you want it. If you offer more then the insurance people do it's very likely yours. I'm betting they won't give more then 1500, but we'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.
