I am, in about a week i'll be driving amongst these guys: http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r168/bram_DC/DSC_0551.jpg But it's also my daily :v:
rotated the tires on the wk2, x pattern.
Attempted to Fix-a-flat. Nope, fucking valve stem. Did this for 20 minutes while listening to my brothers music.
Tinted the front window on my Jeep:
Yep, that's definitely a window.
My amp likes to overheat very quickly, sometimes within the span of 10-15 minutes of moderate bass. It's passively cooled, and being in the trunk doesn't give it very much airflow to cool down with. So I picked up a 120mm case fan, drilled a few holes and got it rigged up to the amp. Power is directed to the remote post so that it only turns on when the amp is on. I was kind of worried about grounding it to the amp as it might generate noise, but I haven't noticed any deterioration in sound quality, and it hasn't overheated since. I like little projects like these.

Off note: Ya know I don't think I've posted a picture of my car yet... 1979 Pontiac Catalina 301 "Odd Block" Needs a ton of work, but It's mine and technically my first car.
Changed my sparkplugs, figured it couldn't hurt right. OMFG WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD ONES, THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A YEAR ONLY (6month in storage) AND THEY ARE COMPLETLY GONE, THE ELECTRODE DOESNT EXIST ANYMORE ON ALL 6 (the color is good however on what's left of it). It's purring like a kitten now (sort of, still have those ultra aggressive cams). Just in time for the ride+meet I have scheduled for tonight
My throttle cable clip broke so I replaced it today.... Yep.
My throttle cable clip broke so I replaced it today.... Yep.
Damn dude, you must be exhausted, take a cold shower and relax!
Damn dude, you must be exhausted, take a cold shower and relax!
You don't understand, it took a solid 45 seconds to get the old one off and the new one on.
You don't understand, it took a solid 45 seconds to get the old one off and the new one on.
OH shit, really? Jesus, I'd be doping myself out on morphine after that shit.
You don't understand, it took a solid 45 seconds to get the old one off and the new one on.
take the rest of the week off man, you've earned it
Ah come on guys, if that was the only thing wrong with his car, or what he had time to do today...
retuned my car yesterday, has a nice boost in torque now it was raining tits out, doing 3rd gear pulls on the highway(~90mph) was interesting to say the least [editline]30th April 2012[/editline] yes i am implying that awd doriftu action went down that day
Ah come on guys, if that was the only thing wrong with his car, or what he had time to do today...
Well I kinda tried to jerry rig it so it would work, but it was preventing me from confidently driving it, so I replaced it. I do have to tear apart my cluster soon so I can replace a few gears in the odometer, but that is really it right now. I'm sure I'll have plenty of updates sometime soon when everything else breaks in my car :v:
painted my 'new' rims i bought them for €60 and got a free set of tires with them looked like a good deal to me :) After sandblasting: [t]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r168/bram_DC/SNC00047.jpg[/t] paint: [t]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r168/bram_DC/SNC00052.jpg[/t]
You mean alloys, right?
Hunted boost leak, because fuck leaking mah precious boost. might go to the drag stripe tonight... we'll see

They look like the oldish ones too, nice choice!
they're borbet a's without the covers ;)
they're borbet a's without the covers ;)
Ah, surprisingly similar.
Bought CV shaft and head gasket today. Buying basemap ROM and some couplers/pipe tomorrow.
Parts. Building a 3sGTE for my brothers MR2. Just waiting on the block, head, and crank to come back from machining. Weisco pistons, Eagle rods, ARP hardware, ACL bearings and of course all new gaskets. Out with the old, in with the new. Actually that OEM piston and rod were from a failed rebuild (not one of mine) which is why they look so clean.
Such good choices on the internals. A++
Thanks. Had to go through four engine block to find one in decent condition and i've seen what happens with shoddy rebuilds. Every contact surface is being replaced or redone and all of the accessories are getting rebuilt or replaced. The goal is a 0 mile engine that can hold around 375-425WHP reliably.
Four 3S blocks? Man, usually those are pretty good engines, what was wrong with the ones you tossed?
Four 3S blocks? Man, usually those are pretty good engines, what was wrong with the ones you tossed?
They usually are, but not when you fail to either replace or incorrectly install the thrust bearings. Two of the blocks had this happen. When it does, the crankshaft can move laterally and when the clutch is pressed down, that force pushes it against the block and mains. The steel of the crank is stronger than the iron block...you get this: They are sometimes repairable, but between the cost and the reduced strength of the block, i wouldn't do it. The reason we are replacing the engine in the first place: Again this was the PO. Open turbo lines, some weird spliced in fuel cut adjuster, and poor maintenance and it threw a rod through the block. High school kid beating on a car that was in desperate need of maintenance. He drove it for less than a month by the temp tags on it.
you're missing 2 cylinders for that INB4 SHITSTORM
These blocks have been shown to hold in execs of 750 hp. Granted that is pushing the limit, but 400 hp is only 100hp per cylinder and these block have been shown to do that all day. The eagle rods are rated to 150 hp each. Pauter makes a 1000hp rod set for the engine but i think thats ridiculous. I'm building this engine with tolerances 10x tighter than what Toyota initially did. balanced to within 1/10th of a gram, exact bearing/cylinder clearances, and greatly improved hardware. It wont be making those numbers for a while because I will still have to build the head among a million other things. Stock they run 200hp and I'm hoping for about 220 crank after the initial break in. I'm not saying it will be the most streetable thing in the world, but it a good point for these engines. I would do a V6 swap but for the same price I can build a good 3s with no miles. Not a lot of room in the bay left after the swap either.
Took radio/guage cover thing off Took radio out Got my cassette out! It now feeds and ejects cassettes again. Put the cover back on, put in all the screws, turn truck on, pop in my cassette >wont play I fucking madded. also gonna do this soon
