Hey I might not own a Supra per se, but my A60's 22RE has plenty of power for me so far.
why are supra owners always such power whores
because we can and everyone's jelly
Got two new headlights, installed and aimed. Apparently my passenger one burnt out sometime between this afternoon and friday night. Even though i never used them between that time. Hm.
Polished up my driver side headlight, wanted to take it of the car and remove the amber reflector inside of it. FUUU HIDDEN SCREW.
So instead I put a new amber turn light in it. (The old one was literary flaking off the yellow)
Time to look up how to remove headlights and redo this tomorrow!
Replaced the left hand halfshaft on my brother's Clio with my dad. He'd managed to shear the splined shaft on the outer CV joint clean off... he's only been driving a month :v: - I suspect terrible clutch work. I'll upload a picture tomorrow.
Upon further inspection the outer CV boot had been damaged and the ABS ring was almost entirely taken over with rust. It was just easier to replace the whole shaft with both inner and outer cv joints and ABS ring as one entire unit. Part was £65 and took the two of us roughly 4 hours of actual work to fit.
The hardest part was getting the new splined shaft into the hub assembly as we were fighting against the coil spring. We didn't have a spring compressor or anything like that. Apart from that it was a very easy replacement.
Replaced my fuel pump today. Probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, well, getting the tank off, anyways.
It was such a hard thing to do to change fuel lines oh wow. Vacuum-tight rubber hoses. Popped the hose, only to have fuel gushing out everywhere. I had a cloth to soak it all up thankfully. The fuel coming out of the old one looked like someone dipped a pen in it, almost black. I believe I lost quite a bit of brain cells working on this while inhaling all the fumes

Cut the hoses at the end and re-clamped. The difference was night and day. The 300zx filter compared to the plastic-topped OEM 240sx filter. Car is now rev happy smooth and my wheels actually spin now :D
When I changed my fuel filter I cut the fuel pump and let it run until it quit.
You can imagine the surprise I had when fuel gushed out of the filter line when I took the filter off.
I had never been so careful to keep my head and general face area away from open flames.
My friend and I painted the calipers on his Sentra the other day. We also got a new bumper on my Jeep.

I thought you had to remove the calipers to paint them properly, looks like you just taped off anything nearby and sprayed away (Nice job at it)
Yea we could have taken them off, but we figured only painting what could be seen was good enough. Thanks, only cost $12

But....the 22RE has ~120 hp from the factory. You can beat the piss out of it though. :v:
[editline]6th June 2012[/editline]
That might be a little generous with the hp rating, but I don't feel like looking it up.
I put my stock intake tube back on, but ripped out the silencing tube, so instead of a 2 inch diameter tube coming out of my fender into my TB, I've got about a 6 inch tube. I also wasted about 40 bucks putting a "Power Charger" and an Injector pod spacer on my TB. The "Power Charger" just replaces the little neck between my air filter and the TB itself with a larger diameter....well, people call it a salad bowl for a reason.
Old neck:(I cleaned up my TB with some carb cleaner. Just keep in mind this thing sat for a couple years.)

Google image of what I put in, since I guess I didn't take one:

and what I'd eventually like to do to my air cleaner; the hole in the bottom is about the same as the old TB neck.

Bonus:
took out my old OEM stereo because it didn't work. Took about an hour and a half of trying to trace the wires, with absolutely no slack, and finally found them plugging into a box deep under the dash. I haven't pulled out the control panel yet, because it would just leave a big gaping hole in my dash to the right of my steering wheel, until I can get a kit to replace it with a little storage cubby.

Tape deck on left from the middle of my dash is where I put the new stereo, and the thing on the right was way the fuck under the dash. I had to remove a couple panels to get access to the bolts holding it in.

I'm glad to find out that after replacing my fuel pump I find out the gasket on the top didn't seal right and I have gas leaking right next to my exhaust. Can't wait to drop the fuel tank AGAIN.
extending harness... still...
God I hate wiring
Gahhhhhh looking at all of this makes me want to buy my 944 NOWWWWW.
I want to buy an '85+ Porsche 944 and restore it and make it beautiful and mine, but I can't afford one right now. Such is life as a poor college student :c
I mean COME ON! It's like it's teasing me, just out there somewhere!

It hurts so much, I want to sell my xD and buy one and use the extra money to restore it, but technically it's still my dad's car and he doesn't agree with it :(

100hp, but near 200ft-lbs of torque. When you give it the beans, it moves well enough on. It's just a DD. I have a boosted civic for crazytimes.

I'll be trading off long-stroking-boosted-torque-monster-7mgte for a short-stroke-high-revving-lots-of-hp-1jzgte.
we'll see how I like it :/.
but I agree that horsepower when in absence of torque, is amazingly booring
Tell me about it. Me and Jap had a... "spirited" run on the highway between his GSR-swapped CRX (B17A1, 160hp, 117ft-lbs tq) and my Celica, and I pulled him in 4th, he was in 3rd at ~9k when he started to gain ground on me. If he would have shifted to 4th and dropped off his powerband, I would have still outran him. But we stopped because we didn't want to get in any trouble, just having a little fun. Drive safe on the highway, kids.
But yeah, I really like Honda engines and all, but that was kind of sad. He's got a couple grand in that car, I have ~$600 in mine. *shrug*

the 83 celica was stated having 105hp @4800rpm and 137ftlbs @2800rpm also 26c-38h mpg
not near 200ftlbs.
That'd be great if I had an '83 Celica. I have an '85. With a 22RE.

I'll admit it is closer to 150, but still. *shrug* I was reading the wrong number :P
Continuing on the cooling system job I started yesterday:

Nice wood floor you've got there.... :smug:
what i need to work on--
Inner fender plastic crap all fell out ages ago, going to put some roofing pad things in there.
basically on my jeep, if you open the door and look through the spot where the hinge is, you can see dead center of the front tire on either side.
So when i go through mud/water it sprays into the door hinge area, creating a messy situation.
[editline]7th June 2012[/editline]
Also injector upgrade from a later year renix would be coolio.
I've been selling everything that isn't bolted down at my house for the dart, should hit the 4 grand mark soon. I can make another grand and a half when I sell my blue dodge full of metal and the center console I'm getting chromed. With what I should have I can get the interior done and all the metal work but I may need another grand or so for the bodywork such as materials and paint.
Also, I just got a Lebaron for free, no keys though. Going to have some fun then I'm taking the engine out, sorta trading it for a 440, taking the cragar SS rims off, then either selling the car or parting it out then scrapping it.

Give it to me god dammit
Went to the junkyard to pick up some piping and a actuator, Saw a BMW E34 M5 there, made me so fucking mad to see such a nice car there. I also saw a BMW 740il with custom rims beautifully maintained. But it will face the same fate.
Saw two bashed Porsche 944s too.
Finally got a decent turbo for the MR2. Only problem is its a CT26 from a supra. Hot side flanges are different between the two. Hoping I can just swap the hot side housing from the MR2's turbo but I'm betting the housing is a bit smaller on that one. Oh well we shall see.
free junk
Who exactly are you providing your fellatio skills to that you keep getting tons of free cars and scrap?
Well gents, I have to say that I love you all because...
I am now saving up for a 944.
There's a man in Oregon who's friends with my aunt in Portland who has a 944, and he says that if I can give him $1,200 up front when I come to town, he'll give it to me because he trusts me (through my aunt) that I'll get him the additional $2,000 for it!
