now you're just some old drum
that I used to brake
EDIT: since i'm so full of swag with this god damn rhymes
I finished mating the body harness, haven't had time to verify the wiring and to do the electric fans wiring, will do that aftertomorrow.
hopefully, the supra will run this week end, it has to...
also, I'm now the delivery guy at my job: Driving a brand new 2012 Heavy duty powerstroke (turbo diesel) ford is god damn fun. Dat transmission (6 speed) is fucking amazing with that engine, it's the first autotragic that is acting like a proper trans.
Took everything out of the cabin. Definitely not the 4-on-the-floor I expected, but that can be changed, seeing as we might look into an LS1 swap anyways.
Will try to get it onto jack-stands tomorrow.

I was just looking around for my icepack, but I see it in the first picture.
Will you be using a rotisserie?
My bumper came in today, really completes the car seeing it on. The only real body pieces that I need are a trunk trim panel and some tail lights

Nice to see someone elce restoring an old vehicle

I doubt it, we have very little room already, to get to the front of the car the garage door has to be open.

I got it back together in-time for the funeral arrangements.
I had to cut corners and I think my driver side bumper support is upside down, Hence why there is a huge cap.
I now have to take it all of and redo it.... Later.
Put the door handles and locks back on so it's not such a pain in the ass to get them open. Got the car on stands and reassembled the front right disc brake (for some reason someone let it hang by the brake line all this time.)
Good thing this is american muscle, I can sit comfortably in the wheel well and work on the brakes.

Just acquired many gaskets, o-rings and misc parts for the beamer... Looks like some time in the next couple of weeks I'll be ripping the intake manifold / throttle body to pieces and doing a big cleanup.
I finally managed to locate the large-ish vacuum leak I'd suspected was there. Disconnected the MAF (as it does make the engine run a bit more rough and therefore makes vacuum leaks more apparent). Started spraying around the throttle body and intake manifold with MAF cleaner and before you know it, I hit the sweet spot and got the rpm jumping like crazy... bingo. At this point it looks like it's mostly just the throttle body but as the car is 16 years old, I'm going to rebuild the intake manifold while I'm at it anyway. Too many random hoses and bits to ignore.
Aye yae yae.

I thought i try using some cleaner wax to clean the underside of my bonnet, since it needs it. It was the only thing i could think of to try that i know would be safe for the paint. It seems to have worked well enough, but it still isn't EASY work. Very tedious and inconvenient.
That looks really great.
Fuck those fucking late 80's early 90's toy engineer.
I've alway had a hard time passing the harness through the firewall/blowermotor/air duct assembly to the ecu position... fuck me fuck me fuck me couldn,t they just fucking make that hole a bit bigger
I remember when I first cleaned under the hood of my truck, took me a while and it was all hand done but the results really showed.

NVM
wasn't the hole the problem, it's what's behind the god damn hole... fucking gay air ducts...
but I got it with a bit of foreplay and some lube (no kidding).
Key ON, I got the nicest check engine light in the world (also everything works but I havent started it since my gearbox is dry...)
Get some HUEL in it and fire it off! I've been waiting mang.
Cleaned NBC filters, better safe than choking to death while your lungs turn solid I guess.
Drove my step-father to his new office, got his wet-vac and cleaned out my Accent. Got home and took the rest of the trim and cushions out of the interior of the GTO then vacuumed all the wildlife out. Found the build sheet and found the transmission (70-PA) is a Turbo Hydra-Matic 400, not the 4-spd manual. The engine is ID'd as Y9, but the factory engine codes do not contain a number, but is definitely a 400, so it is a Ram Air IV, but that means the owner swapped the ram-air cowls with mock ones and replaced the shifter with one from a Trans Am.
I have no idea.
Still have to identify what engine and transmission is on the crane, it definitely wasn't out of a GTO.

What's the casting number off of the bellhousing on the engine? Right behind the driver's side head.

It didn't have one there IIRC. I'll walk back home and check in a couple minutes.
No wonder I didn't see it, it was under half an inch of caked on mud and oil.
GM12
Today and yesterday have been ridiculous. Basically got home from work at like 2 yesterday and my package arrived at 3. I started working on the Beetle at a little past 3, my buddy came over to lend me his 17mm allen wrench (and ended up staying to help) and we worked until about 9:30.
we:
-replaced the driver's side drum
-replaced the brake hardware and brake shoes on both sides of the front axle
-emptied (and refilled) the tranny
-changed both rear axle boots
today i went and bought spark plugs and wires.. they had to order the wires but at least they could get them, they should be in friday..
i definitely need to spruce up the shifter, it's really mushy. in gear you still have quite a bit of sideways play, it goes into gear nice but there's a lot of play. thinking i'll just get a shifter rebuild kit, replace all the bushings, the shift coupling and all that jazz to try and get rid of the mush. probably replace some front suspension/steering bits next. in the mean time, i'm gonna throw a piece of metal, some metal tape, bondo and paint on the heater channels (and hopefully my buddy will score some tires at work cause my front tires are dry rotted to hell, it's great knowing someone who works as a mechanic) so i can register the bad girl and go for an inspection
I picked up the correct intercooler pipe today, which does add a notable improvement over my hacked up one, which leaked profusely.
I also removed my non working evaporative emissions system, dead weight...
Along with that, I scored big at the junkyard today, 760 Turbo intercooled, with full oil cooler and trans cooler setups. Went to town on that thing and got those parts off of there. I tried to get the oil sender though, couldn't do it, though I did get a shroud so I could correctly mount my E fan.
I also ended up pulling the wiring harness from a 940 with sidemarkers, which worked out really well.
So hopefully tomorrow, I will get around to installing those sidemarkers and E fan.
>Came back from work
>poured the mt-90 redline trans oil that my mom brought home while I was working (thanks mom, I love ya)
>bolted the shifter
>went to start it
>CLICK, CLICK, CLICK.
>bendix would push the gear but it wouldnt turn
>check power cable to starter
>realise I forgot to bolt it on the battery
>bolt it on the battery
>check fluids again
>crank for 2 sec
>vroooooooooom purred like a kitten
>turned it off after 15 sec
>fuel leaking from FPR, got to replace the crush washers
>pulled the code and got 14 (no IGF from igniter)
tomorrow I'm off from work so i'll be fixing those two issues and doing more test but OMFG IT STARTED FIRST FUCKING TRY
soo fucking happy
My cherry picker and engine stand came today, engine is ready to come out. Waiting till Saturday, and then it'll come out. Im a slow working fucker.
[QUOTE=Concur;36996328]Got the rear tires off, going to change the shoes this week hopefully.
Passenger side rear tire didnt want to come off, so mr winch had to help.
