Pulled an oil pan. Found these. Silly tappet adjusting nuts, you belong in the head!
All dat jet black oil in the pan.
How much boost does it make?
It was making about 4 psi on slow pull. probably would have been 6-7 on wot, but don't know, will never know.
All dat jet black oil in the pan.
Yeah... I'm having some problems getting it timed though, maybe bradley or someone else with experience in timing motors could chime in here on my issues. I'm fairly sure the cam gears are off since I can't get the cams to stay in place while putting the timing belt on and the gears refuse to stay timed when putting the timing belt on. Should I bother locking the cams with the timing holes and checking to make sure the gears are right or do they only go on one way? Shouldn't the cam be able to stay at at the timing marks? I currently have to hold both of them with wrenches to keep them on the timing marks while someone else fails to get the timing belt onto the crank and it always ends with one cam or the crank being a tooth off. I don't really trust anything the previous owners did, when they changed the head gasket they didn't tighten down any of the tappet nuts, put the washer and tensioner bolt on the outside of the timing belt cover. It's on a B16A if it matters to anyone.

It was hell of a lot of job, changing the rear spark plugs, goddamned, it was harder than getting to the lower intake gasket. Either ways the car is sitting in the driveway with a rod knock. Looking for an engine because that car has saved me from depression, guess it's my turn to save it from getting squished at the junkyard. Found a '98 Buick Regal GS L67 block with a 4T65e-HD for around 350 or so. Will look for it next weekend.
rod knock because ?! lack of lubrification or simply not strong enough to withstand the Forced Induction. What do you use to control timing and fuel?! did you had predetonation?
No knock retard detected, no misfire, the timing adv was right, oil was at the max line, clean and new right after I got done doing everything, full coolant. Was very light with it. It just pooped on me. Normally should have held with a factory option blower.
How were you monitoring boost, oil pressure, and AFR? If you weren't -- that was a gamble. A gamble you unfortunately lost. Forced induction is srs business. :(
Was monitoring up from the pcm using the torque app, it pretty much give me the infos I would have gotten with a Aeroforce gauge.
Worked on pulling the transmission off of the motor for the Vega. Mocked up turbo manifold. Need some 2.5" piping. And a flange. Thermalarc, do you know of a place that sells a cheap threaded T3 flange? If not I'll just have Davis' Mfg. here in town make me one, he usually does me pretty good on flanges. Can't wait to get the vega gutted out and ready to swap. I might see if that old Vega motor will fire up before I pull it, I don't know though. 2.3 liters, 78hp, and an automatic behind it doesn't sound appealing to me.
Was monitoring up from the pcm using the torque app, it pretty much give me the infos I would have gotten with a Aeroforce gauge.
stock ecu map?
No the pcm was tuned for the top swap. Sure it was canned, but it came from the most reliable tuner for the 3800 scene.
Well best of luck to you wolf on getting it back on the road.
Gonna go snag up a L67 engine with a 4T65e-HD Trans next weekend, well see if it looks well, and install it. But then I'll have to wait for a new tune from Will, then should be back on the road. In the mean time I'll drive a BMW 540i
Left it last night like this.. Got up in the morning with a buddy of mine and decided to do it in reverse from what we did the night before, went right on with a little effort but the intake cam was off a tooth the two times we tried. I had an idea and I skipped it back a tooth by turning the exhaust cam clockwise slightly and the intake counterclockwise. It popped right over without much effort, spun the crank around some, tightened the tensioner up and everything lined up dead on. I don't think that's really an approved method for doing a timing belt though. Now I can see if it even runs since we really don't know anything other than a bunch of dumbasses did a headgasket on it. Valve adjustment, oil, put in all new battery cables/grounds, check the starter and throw some new gas in it and it might actually run! However, there's still every balljoint being toasted, transmission leak at the shift linkage(?), two broken axles, wiring issues out the ass, bent shit in the front right, water leaking from everywhere, cracked radiator, half a rattlecan paintjob, missing passenger window regulator and motor(i dont even know), brakes not working for shit, rear calipers being seized(maybe), getting some proper rubber for the car, new headlights/corners, better suspension and it might be road worthy at that point..... :v:
As soon as I start working on the Golf it starts hauling down with rain even though there's little to no clouds in the sky when I start on it. Every fucking time. I want a damn garage

Here's what I will be using... when dad moves his Suzuki down by the Jeep... [t]http://puu.sh/P7eu[/t] He's gotta move it down here but that hasn't been done in quite a while :v: [t]http://puu.sh/P7eM[/t]
officialy drove the supra yesterday... Can't get easily into first, I think it's my clutch pedal adjustement (isn't releasing all the way). I hope it's not the "new" trans My dash illumination isn't working, I got to check my wiring my FPR is still leaking even with new crush washers... wtf weird clunking noise front right (I think it's the "CAI" pipe knocking on the strut tower) but it ran, ran good. felt good bro
Redid my radiator fan, took a shroud that actually fit the radiator, moved the fan from the incorrect shroud to the new one, used brackets to mount it, and filled in the excess space with expanding foam. It's twice as efficient as the old one.
Where do you guys go to get auto wire? I'm repairing some wire on my Jeep and I want to keep the OEM colors. I have things like Purple w/Red stripe and such. NAPA doesn't have stripey wire.

all kinds of little things today.. if it wasn't supposed to start raining and shit tomorrow and on until next week i'd mess with building the engine cover out of 3/4" 9 gauge expanded and painting the car (i have.. one whole rear quarter done-ish) but RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINNNNNnnnnn, bleh. anyways, today I: put on a new steering damper replaced the shifter, like the whole shifter. new shifter, new boot, new reverse lockout plate and shifter bushing replaced the shifter coupling at the back that hooks the shifter rod (in the center chassis tunnel) to the transmission installed an oil temp gauge, it's kind of meh because the sender is in the oil pan so it's not really the best/most accurate reading but it's better than nothing at all. bought new points and a new distributor cap but for now she runs pretty good and i don't feel like messing with gapping the points again so those can wait to go on the shifter is really tight now, the new rod is slightly shorter and has a slightly tighter shift pattern. new bushing and new shifter coupling have gotten rid of the "stirring a big bag of marbles" feeling that was trying to find gears before, although now reverse is a little bit more of a pain in the ass to get into (i think it's more because of the way the car/tranny is than anything)

First post in here so: I own a 1995 Chevy Suburban. Nothing really special but I've always loved the C/K1500 series from Chevy and my step dad got a good deal on this thing for $400 from a co-worker. When we got it the fuel-pump had a bad ground on it, which is a common issue for that year it seems, as well as a strange miss in the engine. Well we finally fixed the miss after 3 years of not knowing what the fuck was going on with it and my step dad officially handed me the keys to my very first "truck" back in June. She runs well enough for having 140k on it and having been a daily driver with a bad miss for 3 years. I know it says "today" but it happened a few days ago, I work full time and tend to fall asleep before checking FP. We straight piped the exhaust and I took it for a ride through my small village. Got to the center point of town with some 3 story tall buildings at a 4 way intersection. And I was first in line for the light. Took off and the echo produced from the exhaust was shaking the windows on buildings. Today I'm heading out there to find a coolant leak on it and hopefully hook up the lights on my visor finally as well as throw some fender flares I got for it. Here she is: Oh and we removed the side steps on it. I'm a tall guy and don't need em, and it just gives me a reason to help short girls in short skirts into it.
