Tuning with Toyota usually means modifying the signal going to the computer.
what do you think my safcII is for
Oh and I cleaned the Air filter, drained the oil, but bought an Oil filter that will probably fit, but it's way smaller than the one that's on it now. Gonna see how my Valve stem seals like Castrol GTX high mileage 10w40(don't think the local Autozone caries anything heavier) tomorrow, and then wash her.
My gosh don't tell me you did the $25.99 deal with the shit Fram filter. My manager pushes us to sell that crap product.
My work carries 15w-50 Mobil 1, 0w-40, 10w-40. You also get a Bosch(Purolator) filter for $32.99. At least get that lol
trying to figure out why my KA won't idle with the MAF plugged in
I've tried cleaning it, it worked for like 5 seconds, I'll probably pull ecu codes and borrow a good MAF from my friend today

Will update with pics of completion (minus the rms) OR rage that i need a 1'' spacer for the fan (got a single .5'')
[editline]20th August 2012[/editline]
r-rage
s
so much
fuck
Vatozone ended up having a 1'' spacer, but i have no idea how the fuck to put the spacer on ;_;
(as in cant get the old... bolts? off of the pulley
why not just install an E Fan?
I don't trust an electric fan as my only cooling apparatus on a vehicle that romps into puddles during most of its use.
Though i am going to look into getting the factory elec fan wired to a switch, since i have no idea what makes it turn on.
With these fans, they usually get turned on by a temperature switch wired into the radiator. now you can bypass that switch and replace it with an on off switch wired into the cabin.
I always run a 24/7 electric fan through the ignition switch. It does more good than harm. It does no harm, in fact.
Just a way to ensure it doesn't get forgotten and it doesn't get left on.
E-fan should be off @ highway speed
have fun

Fuck fram. I wanted a Purolator but I couldn't find anyone that carries them. I ended up getting a NAPA gold.

Purolator Pure One.

My AC (or heat) runs still even if its off at highway speeds. FORCE THAT AIR INTAKE. FORCE IT.
coolant disapeiring. Investigated a bit...
after much worrying: heatercore was empty and sucking coolant a bit (the heatercore bypass was only flowing a tiny bit).
troll supra gonna kill me from worrying lol
E-fan should be off @ highway speed

Should, yeah, but anyone who does ANY city driving shouldn't mind having the fan on all the time via ignition.
Again, it does no harm. It's better in the long run. wearing out a fan a *little* faster than normal is worth not destroying your engine if a relay or fuse decides to pop. General e-fans are fairly cheap.

Bosch, Purolator and WIX are pretty much it. Stay away from Mobil1/K&N they burst. The Vatozone I work at only has Bosch
Mann.
Mann? Mann. DP is da Mann.
A German Industrial machinery company?

Hehe, I actually pulled off a K&N. :v:

Well, Mobil1/K&N have similar build. Its just that the Mobil1 has been known to leak a bit with some models. No big
STP master race
I've never had any complaints or problems out of them, I don't know why people turn their nose up at them when they are in Autozone or the likes. Great filter.
Fram is crap and anyone who uses one should NOT be touching ANYTHING under the hood of your car. If you haven't read the many articles on why they are crap, there are many places you can.
Basically, they're cheaply made, have very little filter area, and bits that should be steel (as blistering hot oil flows through it) are plastic and cardboard.
what do you think my safcII is for
Good choice.
The fram tough guard is not too bad. No cardboard construction.
The fram tough guard is not too bad. No cardboard construction.
Incorrect, unfortunately.
This filter has an improved filter element with more surface area (248sqin), a heavy silicone anti-drainback valve with a good sealing surface, the same plastic pressure relief valve but with an integral screen to keepout large particles, and enough inlet holes for good flow. In my opinion, the only real drawback to this filter is that it is capped on each end with cardboard instead of metal.
good on ya m8
I just get sick and tired of plebians coming to my Autozone and telling me Fram is the best filter they have ever used and Lucas oil will not eat your transmission synchros. PFFFFFFFFFFT
No shit, brother.
Being a Honda guy I run motor oil in my transmissions because we are strange like that. It's very strange when a transmission and engine oil change requires just 6 quarts of 5w30.
As far as oil I just run cheap walmart shit, oil is oil... Usually. There are some bad brands and some no-nos, though. But Super-tech oil (The wally world brand) is decent and will hold up fine in an everyday engine.
My dad swears by Quaker State which is a Fram-owned company now iirc, they rebrand Fram filters and the likes. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them and I don't bother picking them up.
DIY
I drove it by myself today
Noticed no problem. Showed it to co-worker for the first time.
now off to college my class starts in a hour
i use these

Wouldn't really say I 'worked on' my car today, but got some alloy dust caps for my tyres as they were missing some. 4 blue for £1, not too bad.
I took the back seats out of my car because a dog pissed on them before i got the car, and i'm tired of it smelling like dog piss on hot days. BUT, under the seats was a big pile of sand and sea shells... wtf...
edit:
here is said beach
