reinstalled glove box, was tired of seeing the ecu on the ground.
tie-wrap'd the harness to the firewall. was tired of seeing it rest agaisn the valve covers
blocked the old BOV, no more leaking under boost plz
Woo, my new muffler fixed my issues with my engine running rich and I can actually idle at a low RPM (Can't tell since I don't have a tachometer)
Also replaced the radius arm bushings in my dads truck.
Today was good day.
Same here. My new muffler and cat makes my truck feel like it runs so much better. Throttle response went way up too.
Took the shit 7 1/4 out of the dart along with the crap torsion bar front suspension, boy is it light now, I can lift the front with one arm with how it's sitting right now. Cut the front inner fenders out along with everything infront of them and a good chunk of the frame rails got cut off.
Need to build some funky sort of rotisserie that my dad has planned and then the car is getting media blasted.

First: What is it your working on
2nd: Is that a diesel
and three RD (3rd pun): What the shit happened to your intake tube?
86 VW Cabriolet 1.8l
Diesel : I WISH
And I was trying to remove the fuel filter by lifting up on the top of the MAF/Fuel distribution and ripped it :( Found out later I ripped it.

Ouch man, that sucks. And dude, i wish you lived near me as I would LOVE to help work on that, I've not seen one of these before and looks interesting to work on. Mind you I've worked on engines of some sort since I could hold a wrench just about, less worry of me breaking something. :v:
If you or anyone has worked on VW's can some one please tell me how to take off the throttle body.
I tried the 4 bolts that are 8mm and it felt WAY to tight.
gonna brake out my bently and have a peek.
Tried to find a pic for you DP, but it is the four bolts. They are going to be VERY tight, just be careful and firm, you shouldn't have a problem getting them out. There's one at each corner, I recommend removing them in a criss-cross pattern (Top left, Bottom right, Bottom left, Top right).

ARP exhaust mani studs because the ones on mine are real old junkyard parts. Getting ready for head removal soon

I don't want to shatter your happyness but it's probably the thread that are pulled by being steelbolt in a aluminium head.
You'll need helicoils bro

No, its all there. Two of the old bolts snapped inside the head due to the manifold shifting during usage. Since been extracted and replaced with equivalent junkyard bolts. Er on the side of caution I might as well do this while the head is going to be off. It's the same case with the head being bolted down with ARP studs. Should be ok with right torque
hopefully
i say that a lot -oh that should be ok or ill just do thus real quick and then 4 hours later I'm in the corner, sobbing in the fetal position
my exhaust is held together with those cheap zinc homedepot bolts

Ohh god I figured out how I flooded it last time. Terrible Injector squirt pattern + the injectors squirt 24/7 when the key is on.
Those look real nice DP, you did a great job of cleaning them. What did you use?

Just regular carb cleaner. Gotta re-take em apart because the spray is not right ;_;
I might just let em soak in B12
>changed trans fluid/filter today with a couple friends
>had to pour fluid down the dipstick pipe with a cone that was too big
>driving home
>smoke
>oh shit
>pull over and pop the hood
>I had spilled trans fluid all over the engine when filling it
So my car is gonna smoke a bit over the next few days. Should be fun, especially since my car already looks like a beater. :v:
