i'm pretty sure there was enough room for the suspension, pushed down on the car as if someone was in it and there was still clearance. idk anything about spacers honestly. think i'm just gonna take it up to a tire place and have them laugh at my face and fix it or have them tell me it's not gonna work out and cry. can the wheel hubs deteriorate/rust and affect the way the wheels drive? [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] would make sense because of the way the sound would go away when i would brake, rotors grinding / messed up or something. hard to say for sure what exactly.
Dad ordered all my afco suspension stuff for the dart, picking up rotisserie tubing tomorrow
Getting motor mounts done tomorrow whoo, that means new exhaust comes next.
Finally found my boost leak [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/y5wrU.jpg[/IMG_thumb] [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/oNzaV.jpg[/IMG_thumb] The PCV lines are covered with cracks and giant ass holes we somehow didn't see before. Problem found, now to fix
Got around changing my cone filter, it was nasty, and also cleaned my MAF, idled better and the LTFT were better, got readings of -3.9% at idle.
Painted my Winter wheels today. Now, Either I need to repaint the silver for the Center Caps, or clean it off to reveal all the chrome. I'm stoked as hell, tomorrow is 360 swap day for my Chrysler. I've been saving money, buying parts and working towards this for three years, and it's finally gonna happen!
End of the quarter, and didn't have much to do for the rest of the day with Inventory going on, so I took off work at lunch and finally got that Clutch master and slave put on. The piston in the slave cylinder was almost pushed completely out. :v: But I've replaced no name parts with a good set of Aisin's so it should be good for years to come. Just gotta fill and bleed the system tomorrow, and then I gotta replace my oil pan. :( [editline]28th September 2012[/editline] I'll go take pic's in a bit.

I'm getting the feeling that I'm not gonna be able to walk and/or bend over tomorrow from trying to squeeze into the footwell to unbolt the Clutch master Cyl...
So I've got a list of stuff that needs to be fixed on the Mercedes (35 interior things oh dear). Not going to list all, but what's probably the most urgent is the fact that the engine makes a whirrrring noise when it's starting cold (sounds like belt-noise so I know where to start out). The cold-start valve is also leaking a bit, not enough to see anything but enough to smell petrol when you're near it. The guy who sold me it said that there was seemingly nothing wrong with the valve itself, it was just a small rubber sealing that had gone bad. So that shouldn't be too hard to get done, especially considering that they are only mechanical issues on it. So glad that all the issues are cosmetical. however fixing up the interior is going to be such a bitch. There's no possible way that I can fix up the seats on my own. [t]http://i.imgur.com/BvHBf.jpg[/t] And another thing that's going to be a bitch to replace is the dash. There's this pretty huge crack in it, due to it roasting in the sun. [t]http://i.imgur.com/7yybD.jpg[/t] Could have been a whole lot worse. I just cannot do the seats. :v: [editline]edit[/editline] anyone know a good way of making the crack in the dash look a bit less cracked? replacing the whole upper part of the dash will be a bitch, mainly because it'll probably be quite hard to get one in good shape that looks the same as the bottom part of the dash, colour-scheme wise. also dosh.
snip
Almost positive you can buy reproduction parts for Benz's
Changed my radio and my thermostat, which opened too early, causing the engine to not get up to working temperature. I can finally listen to casettes in my car!
You can also buy dash covers, but I don't know how nice they'd look.
You can also buy dash covers, but I don't know how nice they'd look.
I've heard of places that do dashboard restorations, like filling in the cracks and whatnot. I got the motor mounts done today as well as getting the transmission mounts checked out. The engine now sits about a 1/4 inch off the subframe where before it was actually resting on it. Now I don't have to worry about the engine torqueing under boost, which already broke one of my A/C compressor lines. The transmission mount is holding but has to be replaced soon, the whole transmission needs to be flushed, and I am going to install the Transmission oil cooler soon as well. But since the motor mounts are done, that means I can get my new catback exhaust :)
Hey Siminov what injectors do the old 240's use? I herd they use the same as my vw cabby and I need a new one.
Hey Siminov what injectors do the old 240's use? The OLD 240s used a K Jet system which was mechanical fuel injection.
Got new dark tail lights at H2Oi: before [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/iFrHt.jpg[/IMG_thumb] after [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/8KN2W.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Also got a vanity plate [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/fWApI.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
The Diesel did the trick for getting most of the gunk off, I'll be doing it over a few days. I also managed to take apart the fuel injection system, I'll need unclog both the fuel line and the breather line just to be safe, I also now have a port to directly mount things to, trumpet system here I come!

the ones that look bad are the shittily spraypainted ones those look alright i'd personally just get one of those film covers

Also I gave my injectors a bath today in some B12 if this shit wont cure them I'm fucked. [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/VWCabby/2012-09-29%2019.24.35.jpg[/t]

The only thing is, the volvo ones are just as rare.
Finally got the girlfriend a decent power side mirror frame from a dead 240sx at the junkyard. Cost like what, $25? Cleaned it up, lithium grease, proper bolts. I even used my Dremel to etch a line on a bolt because we couldn't find a Phillips screw. She's all happy playing with the motor in it. Mirror when she first bought the car: Now planning and deciding whether we want to rent a pickup truck to go back to the junkyard in Los Angeles. Want to go back and get that nice white hood and the spoiler-less hatch door we left there. Maybe even that awesome uncracked windshield
Got most of the dart roller/rotisserie thing done today with my dad, man is the consept behind it wierd, you literally roll the car on the side which is a scary thought but apparently it's extremely easy to roll. If this seems scary, imagine the old boat of a car '68 coronet on one of these things. Dad built most of it as I had no idea how it worked, I build some door brackets for the front [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/F6752B0F-295E-419B-A306-348900552969-210-00000024BC5E180E.jpg[/thumb] My grinder-fu is weak, need to work on it. All in all it was a good day, car is progressing rather fast, tomorrow it should be rolling, we will be doing some cutting off the other car and probably a lot of measuring.

[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/VWCabby/2012-09-29%2019.24.35.jpg[/t]
Looks a lot like the mechanical injectors from my dad's 450SL. About every year one or two of them will clog up because American gas is shit, so we take them out, soak them like you're doing and use a small piece of wire to clean the gunk out of the inside. That usually helps.
changed the rear brakes on mi madre's jeep compass today (06 i think? first year of the compass).. i thought i was playing with brakes for one of those little electric cars they make for kids, it was comical how little those brakes were the rotors were 10", only like 2" was actually rotor and the rest was a drum for the e-brake setup.. the brake pads were all of an inch tall by maybe 2-3 inches wide. fucking silly small, i couldn't help but laugh at how little they were the bolts were seized up pretty fucking tight, on one of the passenger side bolts for the caliper, when the bolt broke lose i smashed my hand wicked fucking hard into a solid piece of 1/8" metal, it hurt like a bastard. going to have a wicked bruise tomorrow, probably going to hurt like hell too because any time i stop moving my thumb for any period of time it kills to move it again whatever.
Smaller pads have better bite than larger ones. It's a well known old-school dirt track racing trick to put glazed-over brake pads on the right front and cut the left-rear pads into tiny squares on the pad surface, on tracks whose rules don't allow a brake bias other than factory settings.
360 swap was a complete unmitigated disaster, the assclown who rebuilt my 727 let a bunch of rust build up in the pan, and it won't even go into park property. The whole thing has hit a brick wall for at least a month, this weekend was literally the old time I could work on it. Odds are I'll just have to buy a new transmission because he fucked it up. I can't even bitch at him for it because we don't even work together anymore and he dropped off the face of the earth. I cannot even come close to describing how furious I am.
Tried to find a pic for you DP, but it is the four bolts. They are going to be VERY tight, just be careful and firm, you shouldn't have a problem getting them out. There's one at each corner, I recommend removing them in a criss-cross pattern (Top left, Bottom right, Bottom left, Top right).
bradley sayed they would be tight... [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/1031910/VWCabby/2012-10-01%2016.50.05.jpg[/t] R.I.P. And my sunglasses was mostlikly the ONLY thing now letting me type this.
