changing my shocks and struts today, prepare for smooth ride.
Replaced some stuff in the steering rack, Since I know nothing about that stuff, I had the volvo techs do it for 500 bucks. Sadly, they told me my transmissions front and rear seals are leaking and it would be cheaper to replace it than repair it.

(BOSCH never make replacement seals) So instead I look up the well known ebay dude LOOKKY HERE A SEAL for 10$ weeeeee [t]http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a76/spyknow/seal-of-approval.jpg[/t]
Adjusted the timing and idle on the Galaxie. Points distributors suck yo. Switched out the old manual voltage regulator for a new electronic one. Didn't need it, but worth it just for the piece of mind. We may convert it from a generator to an alternator in the future. Also tightened the belt on the generator a bit
Adding carbon makes everything light.. not in this condition though :( [sp](painted my generator black, and put on some carbon decal just to make it look more nice)[/sp]
Well the transmission can only hold 200 torques so fuckit, It would be better to get a beefed up transmission from a turbo car than can hold 300 torques.
Wow, what engine is in your Volvo? This puts things in perspective for me, because I've been looking at transmissions for my Coronet when I swap it, and I'm only able to get something that can handle over 550 ft/lbs of torque or somewhere around this. :v:
I have a rebuilt engine with all turbo components, plus a 2.5" catback high flow exhaust and upgraded intake. 30 pound injectors with a stock AMM, Stock ECU running about 10psi right now on a tiny (stock) turbo, It hauls ass to the point my transmission is struggling to shift crisply. I mean they are torquey engines. This guy only had a chip, 3" AMM (stock is 2.5), 46lb injectors and a side exit exhaust boosted to 22psi on a unknown turbo, probably a stock or 15g.
Not bad for a 4cyl. Got any videos of it? Or is that actually your car at the top of the page?
Not bad for a 4cyl. Got any videos of it? Or is that actually your car at the top of the page?
I wish.. This was a dyno sheet I pulled from a guy with a similar engine to mine, except his has a few more mods. Here is a video of a similar car, not the same one, this one is not chipped and still has the stock AMM: But you get the idea.
Oh. :v: [editline]5th October 2012[/editline] Fuck, brb gonna go work on my car.
Who need Cologne when you can smell like Dextron™ III Auto Transmission Fluid For some odd reason the transmission oil filter in a 99 Pontiac Grand Prix doesn't bolt n it just fits with a seal and that is it. To my surprise when my friend took it off i got a face full of oil :v: Also if you car is supposed to run on 91 octane and it can also run on 87, would I get better mpg than 87 since my car's ECM will pull significant ignition timing to protect the engine from knock/detonation?
So uh I just bought this dirt bike earlier today, it's my first vehicle and i'm having some minor issues with the clutch, so i'm just going to copy my post from the bikers thread: "So after taking a look at it everything seems fine, except for the back tire, which is looking pretty used up. And also my dad say's the clutch is shitty and needs to be adjusted, there is that little wheel thing on the Clutch/cable housing but apparently that is only a temporary fix, so how would I go about tuning this thing? I also can't really tell if it's in the most comfortable spot because I don't have a lot of experience with clutches. also, holy fuck I love this thing already. It feels awesome. Also I already fucked up haha, I was messing around with the clutch handle, I can't even remember what I was doing really, but it was turned on and for some reason decided to take off full speed into the workbench 3 feet away until I could get my hand on the break. No damage done." Picture: Also hope you guy's don't mind me asking questions and shit in this thread, I don't know if it's against the rules or anything I only read through a few pages

You risk damaging it. No you won't get better milleage(Chances are it'll be worse), you'll only have a bad running engine, the PCM with those motors is really good at adapting, but GTP's are tuned for 91 octane by factory standard, running lower than it, the PCM will know and enter a protection mode (By lowering timing and stuff.) The 91 octane they put in is to fight KR, if you put lower, you'll ping a bunch, risks are chipping a piston for example. 87 octane is for GT, or N/A 3800, not S/C 3800. Hell if you got a stock GTP, it's already having KR.
went and finished my Clutch master/slave. The new Master cylinder I bought was fucked up I think. :( The hydraulic line wouldn't fit into the hole on the new one, no matter how many times I took it out and held it straight, or even tweaked it a little with a crescent wrench. It just wouldn't line up and go in straight. Took it back out( fucking bolts under the dash) and the brass cup that the Hydraulic line seals against was chipped. Might be too late to send it back, but I also think it's from trying to tighten down the line, so my fault I guess. Put the old one back in and the line slipped right in, straight and true, on the first try.(fff) I still need to get a pic of the old Slave cylinder, but that thing was pretty much blown out. Found a screwdriver, as mine has gone awol.., took out all the screws on the left side drivers footwell panel which surprisingly opened up quite a bit of room, and I found the fuse box. I could actually move my hand more than a couple centimeters at a time, and was finally able to put the wrench on the bolt. Clutch works. Just gotta put some oil in it, and jump the battery and she should be "Driveable". Still need to get a new oil pan though. I gave up last weekend on it after dropping a bolt behind the panel, and then that same panel for some reason pulled a spring off the clutch pedal assembly, which promptly fell behind the same panel(I know, I know, but I had a headache all day, and aspirin wasn't helping it). [editline]5th October 2012[/editline] Well, the line fit, but it would not, no matter what I tried, go in straight. Like the threads were crooked or something.
neat
Thanks for the info. My GTP is fully stock ;-;.
As any owner of a 3800 powered car, you should read this : http://www.grandprixforums.net/safely-modding-your-3800-a-67580.html If you got questions, feel free to add me on steam.
Fixed up a rusty header on Thursday/Friday, turned out pretty nice, the other one is more beat to shit though so its going to take more work. Sort of at the start, I sanded it a little [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/42F461B1-9666-45F2-AC0C-7B925DEF24EB-4157-000004EEB3CF4CFF.jpg[/thumb] After a bunch of sanding and paint [thumb]http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u423/Lawblind/BD659863-19A9-4474-A0EE-0BFE0F388E78-4157-000004EEB8AB3943.jpg[/thumb]
I have spent the last fucking 5 straight hrs rebuilding my god damn fuel distribution. Found gunk in the pressure thingy, meh. Cleaned that out. Ran B12 threw everything... In the end was the same in the beginning. But with slightly better ending results. Injector 1 & 4's Gass feed go 24/7 with the pressure of the pump. Injector 2 & 3's Gass feed does what there suppose to do and go with the Airflow sensor. I have cleaned every single fucking think in that fuel distribution that I could have thought about. My next step is to verify how much farther I can get it apart...without needing or making gaskets that literly NO ONE has. When I sayed the ending got better, use to when you cut the key off the fuel pressure was still there. Now its cut the key and the injectors stop squirting. Like they should.... Sad day and DP had to vent some :( [editline]6th October 2012[/editline] Story time : My step dad was like "Ohhh well we need to brake it down further so we can clean it better." I told in "Good luck with that" About 10 sec later I herd him grunting like everything. He was taking a flat head to a bolt on the FD. His face started turning red and was trying 140% About that time he gave up and called it a "mother fucker" I than replied "I tried to wish you luck". replaced my shocks and struts. I love toyota for this. I didnt have to touch my coils to get the struts out. I just had to undo 2 lower bolts and one upper, pull the old one out and put a new one in. The old ones didnt even provide back pressure. I could push them in and they would stay compressed.

Doesn't it grip enough? Or doesn't it move seamlessly? It if moves unregularly (it feels like it's harder at certain points), it probably needs lubrication. If it doesn't grip enough (there's contact between the engine and transmission when there shouldn't be), check the little tightener or whatever it's called on the lever. You can also adjust the screw on the clutch, but eventually it will wear down so much that you'll need to replace it (as with any engine/transmission with a clutch) [editline]My crush hates me because I'm a fucking idiot.[/editline] As for what I did today, I did a tire/wheel change on my mom's Caravelle, switched from summer tires to winter tires. Why does the summer bolts have to be 17mm while the winter are 19mm??? And oh my how tight some of those bolts where, I used an air powered bolt-thingy (it looks like a gun, please someone tell me what it's called), and it still wouldn't come off. I had to actually stand on the wheel key (is that really what it's called?) with my whole > 110 kgs (roughly 242lbs) , and it still wouldn't move :suicide:

Fuck. Got all the panels and everything back together on my supra, put some Permatex high temp thread sealant on my oil pan drain bolt to patch it up for now, seems to be holding. Not a drop of oil so far. Hooked it up to my truck with jumper cables and started it up for the first time in a couple weeks. Fucking stoked! Left the jumper cables on for about 5 minutes to juice up the battery a bit, and then unhooked it. I was flipping on some lights as I had changed a fuse trying to see if my fog lights worked, and when I flipped the switch for my headlights, the car shut off. Whatever I thought, drew too much juice maybe. I tried to start it, nothing. I tried to jump it again. Nothing. FUCK. I've checked all the fuses and fusible links under the hood, and under the kick panel in the drivers footwell. I'm hoping it's not something else that needs replacing...
Replaced that PCV hose that was full of cracks and whatnot, drove it around the block and was slightly satisfied with the results. But the more I drive it the more the problem returns and now its back to the way it was and I need to find another busted line -.-
I'm willing to bet AM2 or domefuse (will prevent car from charging)
I don't know what I did, but I got it started again, however... The electrical system is all screwy now. WHEN the locks work, they lock and then unlock, the brake warning on the dash flashes, and the gauges all jump around. The windows work when they feel like it, and it runs like ass. Fix two problems, only for more to show up. God damn it. [editline]6th October 2012[/editline] Oh, and it won't start unless I have jumpers attached. There didn't seem to be any issues when I parked it. :(
Got a set of 4 NOS police car shocks for the Fifth Ave in today. Too bad the damn car is still stuck at my buddy's place with the screwy transmission.
